We have bought into the idea that the harder we work the more productive we will be. Pushing ourselves to perform creates anxiety which in turn affects our ability to produce quality ideas and content. In this meditation, we experience problem-solving by approaching the issue from a different way.

Welcome to your practice on igniting innovation.

It's part of the Metta human series.

So we're going to start off with bringing ourselves into the moment.

And when we're in the moment,

We can have better ideas,

And their creativity can bubble up.

So let's first do a little practice suggested by Dr.

Ellen Langer,

Taking in a deep inhalation and slowly exhaling it out.

Open your eyes and have a look around your room and find something that your eyes can rest on.

And it might be an object that you see regularly,

Or maybe you haven't really noticed it before I found something and just really look at that.

Look at its color,

Its shape,

Its texture.

Does it make you feel any judgments that are arising around it.

And by doing this,

I'm bringing myself into the present moment.

Ellen Langer suggests that to be mindful is to notice what is around us to see what is around us.

It brings us into this moment.

It can often bring us out of our head,

Out of our rumination,

Out of our worries,

Out of our stress by just looking and seeing what is actually here.

Have I seen that tree before?

Have I seen that postbox before?

Did I notice what color my neighbor's car is,

Etc.

So now we are in the present moment.

We're going to apply some innovation mindset.

And a big part of being innovative and creative is to let go of stress.

Let go of tension.

And to move gently and beautifully into the alpha brainwave state where our creative ideas bubble up from the depths of our mind.

So bring to mind a particular issue or a problem that needs solving in your life.

It may be family,

It may be work,

Health,

Whatever it may be.

And it's something you've been grappling with,

You're not quite sure how to approach it or fix it or deal with it.

And the purpose of this exercise is to let go of trying to solve it.

Park it,

Put it on the back burner,

Let it simmer slowly.

Don't even try to address it.

And now let's breathe.

Breathing in through the nostrils nice and smooth and normal.

Breathing in,

I know I'm breathing in and breathing out.

I know that I'm breathing out.

Now that issue is sitting there in the background.

I know it's there.

But I'm just not really focusing on it.

I'm just relaxing.

I'm calming my mind.

I'm giving up striving.

I'm giving up whatever tension or anxiety there is around it.

In fact,

I'm just breathing around it.

I'm breathing.

So right now,

To extend this practice,

You can push pause.

Good.

Let's take in a deep breath through the nose.

And exhale it out the mouth.

Did anything bubble up for you?

Any solution?

Any plan?

And if not,

That's fine.

I often find when I'm in meditation,

My brain moves into alpha,

Naturally ideas will start to arise.

It's scientifically proven.

And that is often when I when I sit in my morning practice,

These ideas,

They keep coming up.

And it's the reason why I'm the head content developer for various businesses.

And it's quite simple,

I just create a space for ideas.

I don't push myself,

I just give up.

And then they come.

You know,

It's like when you meet an old friend,

You can't remember their name,

And you push your mind very hard.

And you can't remember.

And as soon as they walk away,

Their name pops up in your mind.

Because when we put pressure on ourselves,

We lose it.

Give yourself a break,

Relax,

Breathe,

And the answers will come.

Thank you for practicing with me.
