Hello nap lovers,

I'm Steph and today I want to share a few tips with you so that you can have great,

Incredible,

Wonderful,

Recharging,

Delicious naps.

According to an article by the male clinic,

Benefits to naps are relaxation,

Reduced fatigue,

Increased alertness,

Improved mood,

And improved performance.

And as a lifelong napper,

I can agree to those benefits of naps.

Now I for one don't usually get eight hours of solid sleep a night and this was true for me even before I had a kiddo.

So I've been taking 20 to 30 minute naps my entire life to recharge me,

To reset me,

To give me a little bit more oomph in my step for the rest of the day.

I've never gone wrong with a little cat nap.

Imagine my delight when I was reading Tim Ferris' book,

The 4-Hour Body,

And in his chapter on becoming uberman,

He titles this type of sleeping,

Sleeping about six hours at night and then taking a 20 minute nap in the day.

He calls this the siesta and I was beyond thrilled to know that this is actually a method that people use in order to have energy and to be able to accomplish what they want to accomplish in the day and feel really good about it.

So I thought that was pretty cool.

If you're interested,

He does talk about several other methods to use during the day that does include taking naps and how important it is to make sure you have your nap in the day.

So let's talk about how I set myself up for a great nap.

So obviously if I can lay in my bed,

I will because my room is dark,

Cool,

And I have a sound machine,

Which I absolutely love.

However,

There are times when that's just not possible.

And so I will try to have a soft blanket if I can because I need to have a little bit of weight on me in order to have a really nice nap.

So some people like to use weighted blankets or just a really soft cozy blanket,

A really nice pillow.

I try to use items that my body and mind are already familiar with and associate with napping or relaxing or resting.

I also like to use an eye mask and my favorite one that I found is the Muzy Cozy sleep mask.

I found it on Amazon and the reason why I like it is because it has a Bluetooth speaker right by your ears already built in.

It's a really soft material and it has like little pockets for my eyes.

So instead of having just a flat surface,

It's really designed for a very relaxing,

Soothing,

Supportive napping or meditative experience.

So that has been my go-to eye mask as of current.

I also like to listen to a sleep meditation or a self-hypnosis or just really soothing music when I'm trying to get in a nice energizing nap.

So what I've decided to do and I found to be the most helpful is if I have about three go-to recordings that I select from.

And the reason why this is so beneficial is because my mind is very familiar with the recording and has connected it to nap time,

To sleeping,

To resting,

To relaxing.

So as soon as my ears hear the recording,

My mind and body know what to do.

And then I just listen to the recording and when it's done,

I naturally just wake up and feel refreshed and go about my day feeling completely re-energized and centered and ready for the rest of my day,

Whatever I have planned.

And I just feel like I'm in a better mood and ready to accomplish whatever I want to accomplish or just enjoy the rest of the day doing whatever that is.

And those are my simple steps for a great nap.

So that's what I have for you today.

Thank you so much for listening.

I hope this was helpful and I'll see you in the next video.

I hope you found this helpful and happy napping,

My friend.
