Statistically, the odds were stacked against me. That didn’t stop me. Perhaps I was a little baby stoic and Marcus Aurelius was whispering in my little ears. I wasn’t supposed to have love, yet I have the most incredible relationship I know.

I wasn’t supposed to be successful, yet I am.

I was supposed to doubt myself forever, yet I believe in myself.

Thank you for sharing your story. I had many of the same experiences you did, only probably not to the extent you did. I taught 3rd grade for 26 years and then had to quit and go on disability. There are many days that I have so much pain I can’t get out bed. This happened 8 years ago and I still feel like a failure. I pray someday I can love myself again. Children were my world and now I don’t have them anymore. Every time I look in the mirror, all I see is failure and excruciating pain. I am happy for you because of the life you have now 😊.
