Grief doesn’t just live in the mind; it lives in the body. This guided somatic practice is designed to help you gently move collective grief, release emotional heaviness, and restore connection to your inner calm. Through breath, visualization, and body-based cues, you’ll create space for grief to shift, transform, and move through you, rather than staying stuck.

You're here because you feel something that simply isn't yours,

Or it's not just yours.

So lie down in a quiet space.

You can roll out a yoga mat or you can lay on your bed.

Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.

Inhale through your nose and exhale gently.

Let your exhale be longer than your inhale.

Let your body feel held by the earth.

With every exhale you can imagine any tension just dissolving.

Visualize relaxation dispersing throughout your body.

Visualize clarity coming in with every inhale.

With this practice today we're going to alchemize collective grief.

This is a great practice to have when we're experiencing chaos in the world around us.

When we see things happening that we wish we could do something about but we just don't know how.

This kind of work is the most powerful work we can do.

Alchemizing collective grief.

Grief that you feel in your bones and you don't know how it got there or why it's there.

Continue falling into deep relaxation with every breath.

When you're ready,

Whisper softly.

This is not all mine,

But I feel it.

This is not all mine,

But I feel it.

But I feel it.

And as you whisper this,

Visualize roots extending from your body into the earth.

Watch these roots grow into the core of the earth.

See how strong they are and supportive they are.

And then let the grief from your bones drain through those roots.

You can gently begin tapping and let this be intuitive.

So wherever you feel like you need to tap,

Tap.

For me,

It's on my heart or my hip bones.

Maybe you want to stroke your arms or your thighs.

Just adding this extra element of grounding and soothing.

Allow any sound to come up.

So if you want to hum or sigh,

Let it rise from your chest.

Let it rise from your belly.

Or your bones.

Just allow.

Somatic healing is really intuitive.

It's about using your body's personal medicine to move energy through you.

Grief is sacred.

Grief is wisdom.

Place your attention on your breath again.

Feel the support of the ground beneath you.

And now say aloud,

I carry the collective,

But I am not meant to keep it.

Soften.

Feel any remaining tension,

Any remaining grief leave your body.

And when you're ready,

Gently wiggle your fingers and toes.

Before you open your eyes,

Notice the space inside.

Do you feel lighter?

Freer?

More authentic?

More you?

Roll your shoulders,

Stretch your arms,

Slowly bring your awareness back into the room.

Feel the ground beneath you,

The air around you.

Keep the rhythm of your breath anchoring you here and now.

Place your palms together at your heart.

And whisper to yourself,

I am here.

I am whole.

I am free.

Take one last deep inhale,

Feeling your lungs with presence.

And one last big exhale,

Fully releasing what no longer belongs to you.

And when you're ready,

Open your eyes.

Let the light meet you.

You're grounded.

You're ready to step forward with a little more space in your body and a lot more truth in your bones.

And here's a journal prompt for integration today.

What grief have I been carrying that is not mine to hold?

And what strength or wisdom has returned to me now that I've let it go?
