Using the 5 step Neurosculpting Process, we will work with the sense of Dread and work to transform. Backed with Neuroscience we will work to change our response to the sense of dread, bringing onboard our Pre-Frontal Cortex to perhaps change the response to one of excitement.

This is a classic neurosculpting meditation for shifting from dread to curiosity.

So I invite you to find a comfortable place where your body feels safe.

There are no rules in this meditation,

So you can move,

Change position,

Change temperature,

Adjust,

Get a glass of water.

Do what you need.

Perhaps you're sitting in bed or at work,

Or on the couch,

Maybe have a blanket,

Whatever you need to feel comfortable and safe.

And I invite you to tune into your body.

Maybe you notice your breath without changing it.

Are you breathing deep into your belly,

Shallow into your chest?

I invite you to notice your body connecting to the surface beneath you.

You can notice the gravity pulling you down,

Or perhaps the surface pushing up.

What is the contact like between you and the surface,

Physical object beneath you?

I wonder if you could feel your body relax more into the surface,

Or if you could,

What would that be like?

Like would you notice your left shoulder perhaps softening and noticing your breath?

And if you could think of a tree with a bird sitting in it,

What kind of tree would you see?

Would it be from Dr.

Seuss,

Magical,

Purple,

Bright colored,

A tree that's in your yard or from your childhood,

Or another tree that comes to mind?

And if there was a bird in the tree,

What kind of bird would it be?

Would it be an owl sitting up top,

Observing,

Would it be multiple birds in a nest,

Or any type of bird that comes to mind?

And next,

If you were to think of the word dread,

Perhaps you could see it spelled out D-R-E-A-D,

What would the word look like,

And how might your body react?

Or if you were to think of something in the future,

Or later today,

Or maybe from the past,

That evokes a sense of dread,

What might that be?

Perhaps it's an interaction with a person,

And I invite you to notice or think of where that dread might be lodged in your body,

Or the space around you,

Or your mind,

Or somewhere else,

And if you noticed a color,

Or perhaps tension,

If you could imagine diffusing that sensation,

Maybe put a big pink bow on the sense of dread,

Or if you could imagine the word again,

Perhaps you could take a grounding,

Take the tree and attach it to the word and siphon off any amount of dread that you are ready to release,

Or give it some sparkle.

And now I invite you to think of something small or great,

It could be that you're going to eat a wonderful meal after this meditation,

Or perhaps you have something fun to look forward to,

Perhaps it's a nice fresh glass of water that you have access to,

What is something that you might find exciting?

It could be minuscule,

Medium,

Great.

Perhaps it's simply getting in bed at the end of the day,

And cozying up with a pet,

A book,

A show,

A loved one,

And coming back to whatever you might dread,

Or perhaps it's simply an obscure feeling or thought.

What if you could transpose your excitement or find a little molecule,

Perhaps it's getting through something,

And then when it's over,

You're excited for that.

Or I wonder if you could shift the lens in which you view the thing that you dread,

Noticing your breath,

Coming into the present moment,

You imagine yourself in this very present moment,

Perhaps imagine a new symbol that represents your dread,

Whatever comes to mind.

If you could shift one little cell of the heaviness,

Or however dread feels to you,

Maybe you feel it in the pit of your stomach,

Perhaps it contributes to procrastination.

What is one aspect of excitement or curiosity that you could find,

And perhaps you could allow your body to fill up with that excitement or curiosity,

Or something else that you would like to feel instead.

Maybe you imagine a bucket of it above your head and you fill yourself up from the top of your head,

Or perhaps it emanates from your stomach solar plexus area and emanates,

Radiates out through your body.

And what might you notice in your space?

Is it confidence,

Grounding,

Or something else?

Perhaps you could imagine a place that you could come back to.

Maybe you see the ocean,

Or a room,

Or a space,

Or it's simply a feeling in your body,

Or the symbol you imagined,

Or a new symbol,

A little bookmark to remind yourself of the shift that you made today in this moment,

That you can carry with you and always come back to.

Perhaps it's a subtle shift,

Medium or grand or any amount.

If there's a positive or curious thought you might think in this moment,

Meaning where you are honoring your feelings in this very moment,

And you do have the power to shift,

Great or small.

And this concludes our Neurosculpting Meditation for Dread to Curiosity.
