Meditation For Feeling Supported
In these uncertain times, we can access a sense of being supported within us. We use Neurosculpting ® techniques, imagination, and body awareness to find a sense of support and presence in the present moment.
Transcript
This is a neuro sculpting meditation to help you feel supported.
I invite you to find a comfortable position,
Whether you're laying in bed or sitting in a chair,
Maybe on your sofa.
Always find a position that you can relax in,
That your body feels comfortable.
Then close your eyes.
And notice the surface beneath you.
Maybe it's the floor,
The chair,
Or a blanket to keep you warm.
Perhaps you have on your pajamas or you're at work,
Taking a few moments for yourself.
And I wonder if you could notice your breath.
Getting it deeper into your belly,
Expanding your chest.
And thinking of one way in which your needs are met in this very moment.
Maybe it's taking some time for yourself.
Knowing you have shelter,
Food,
Water,
Or something else.
And if you were to scan your body,
Maybe from the top down,
What would you notice in your head space?
Is there any tension anywhere behind your eyes or maybe in the muscles surrounding your skull?
Is there any tension in your neck or upper shoulders?
What if you were to breathe in and invite some relaxation?
Perhaps there's some tension in your jaw.
Maybe you want to massage your own jaw or invite in a deep breath.
Invite in some air and some ease.
Are there any negative thoughts floating about?
If you become aware of your head space,
Any flickering thoughts,
Any conflicting feelings or sensations,
And maybe you could invite in some peace or neutrality.
Maybe imagine the eye of a storm or an impasse.
Maybe making an agreement in between the two parts of you or conflicting energy within you.
Anything that's taking away from you feeling supported.
Would you imagine a support beam,
A meeting place in this space where agreements are made?
Would you imagine a boardwalk,
A sturdy boardwalk or bridge or an open clearing or somewhere in your house or somewhere else,
A neutral place?
Now we'll continue our scan,
Noticing your shoulders.
Is there tension there?
Do you feel a burden,
Anxiety or stress at not feeling supported?
And if you were to release that tension or feeling,
How might you do it?
Could you let it float up into the ethers?
Could you lean back in your chair or notice the surface beneath you supporting you?
And next I invite you to notice your solar plexus,
Your stomach,
Your thoracic area.
And I wonder if you could notice or imagine a place of strength there,
A resource for you of your power,
A pool of light.
Maybe it's a bright light,
Maybe it's muted.
If it's muted,
Could you turn it up or what color would you like to have there?
A beautiful ocean teal,
Yellow or another color that is a source of your own power,
Strength and support.
Imagine this part of your body helping to hold up your upper body,
Your spine,
Breathing into this area.
Next I invite you to breathe into your lower body.
And do you notice any emotions there?
Is there anger,
Delight,
Sorrow?
And what would happen if you allowed that emotion to flow through your whole body?
If it's anger,
Let it zip through and clear out any garbage.
If it's grief,
Allow it to flow freely and heal your body,
Allowing you to let go of what no longer serves you.
If it's delight or joy,
Allow it to be buoyant and flow also through your body,
Bringing light to the dark places.
And I wonder if now you can notice that area of your body,
Your lower pelvis and notice how it anchors into the physical below you.
Another source of power and strength also holding you up.
And if you could think of support and what it feels like,
Perhaps it emanates from this part of your body,
Maybe it's your feet on the ground,
Or maybe it comes from a source outside of you.
But if you could imagine what support feels like,
Maybe you imagine abundant money in the bank,
Or maybe it's a feeling of being wrapped in a blanket,
Maybe you see a color or it's an abstract feeling.
But if you could imagine that percolating,
Like in a coffee percolator or a pot with boiling water in this area of your body,
And let it warm up and flow through the rest of your body,
Even down down through your legs and down to your feet.
Every cell an inch of your body extending outside of your body,
Melting away anything that doesn't belong there.
And notice any story that comes to mind that might distract from you not feeling supported.
Is it blame from the past or present?
Notice if you're blaming anyone or anything.
Simply maybe imagine the word blame or see a color.
And I invite you to call back your blame or notice it.
And notice that that's your power.
The blame is you giving away energy and power.
And maybe there's a story or a thought behind it.
Maybe things don't have to be perfect for you to move forward or there's another story someone you might need to forgive,
Maybe yourself.
But if you were to invite in forgiveness,
If you could forgive yourself or other people or even circumstances outside of yourself,
How would you imagine that to be?
How could you be unburdened?
Allowing forgiveness softly to run through your space and heal your body,
Helping you to let go and releasing you from things you might be bound to your own thoughts,
Maybe other people.
And breathe.
And I wonder what your forgiveness looks and feels like.
Even if you invite in or allow in or can receive one little bit and notice one little shift,
That is enough.
And I wonder if you could notice your lower body now your legs.
Maybe you can imagine the muscles and strength that they have to hold you up.
Connect to connect your upper and your lower.
And if your legs aren't strong,
Notice the surface beneath them holding them up so the strength is still there.
And if you can imagine someone in your life that you might think is completely supported,
Maybe you imagine a mirror or a photo in front of you.
And if they were a reflection of a part of you,
Where would you find that within you?
What's one way that you've been supported in your life that maybe you haven't noticed?
Is it a family member that you know you can always ask for help from friendships,
Your own intelligence,
Your own resilience?
I wonder if you could expand that in your space,
Filling up your space with that that has given you support throughout your life.
Maybe it's health or a strong body or creativity,
Joy,
Or a knowing that you can't explain.
And all the while your breath is breathing itself.
And if you notice any change in your body,
You might want to tap it with your non dominant hand,
Maybe it's a subtle shift,
Maybe it's quiet.
Maybe it's loud and in your face that you're supported or maybe it's in the middle somewhere.
If you could imagine an image for your own support system,
What might you see?
And a simple way to feel supported is to come back and notice ways in which you are safe and your needs are met in this very moment.
Maybe it's food or water,
Home,
Health,
Or something else that matters to you,
A unique aspect,
A unique way in which you are safe in the present moment.
And whenever you're ready,
I invite you to open your eyes if they were closed and begin to notice your surroundings or maybe you want to linger in this meditation.
Thank you very much.
