Third Eye Chakra
by Stacie Wyatt
The Third Eye Chakra, or Ajna, invites us into the realm of intuition, clarity, and inner wisdom. In this meditation, we bring awareness to the space between the eyebrows, softening the mind and opening to deeper insight. As the breath flows naturally, we rest in stillness and allow inner vision to awaken, trusting the quiet guidance within.

Hey there my friends,
Let's keep traveling up the energy center ladder and let's think about the sixth chakra today.
The sixth chakra is known as the third eye.
It is known as the eye that is all-knowing.
It's not the physical eye.
No,
No,
This one sees that which we cannot see.
The frequency for this one or the keynote,
We'll talk about tone.
The tone for this one is A.
As we go up the energy centers,
The frequencies also increase.
The color for the sixth chakra is violet,
So a deep,
Rich blue with some purple in it.
The element for this one is light.
The energy is insight and wisdom and the affirmation in simplest terms is I see.
This one is associated with light and the color indigo blue and it's located right between the eyebrows.
It's just above the physical eyes.
It's interesting to note that when we have confusion,
Something in our day-to-day life confuses us or we get some stunning news that we need to process.
Most of us,
Without even knowing it,
Will put our hand to our forehead and press.
We will say,
Oh my goodness,
Or if we're concentrating on something and we have to think,
We will innately,
Intuitively press on the forehead,
On the third eye.
What that does is it's activating our intuition.
It is activating our ability to,
Okay,
Let me see this situation for what it is.
Let me use my intuition.
Let me get into my concentration,
Get into my visualization,
Get into what am I really seeing in this situation.
Think about that the next time you get bad news or you get a surprise or you have to think.
Watch what your hands do and how you will push there without even knowing it.
Now you know why.
All right,
So this one does not see the material world.
We have our two eyes for that.
This one sees beyond the physical.
This one often is associated with things like clairvoyance,
Intuition,
Dreaming,
Imagination,
Visualization,
And people who have a deficient sixth energy center might not remember their dreams.
They might not have imagination.
They might not be able to tap into the intuition that we all have.
They might be skeptical of things like that.
They might think of it as unhealthy or not positive trait to be able to dream and imagine and visualize.
This one has to do with our creation and perception of visual input that we see,
Whether that's art images that we have coming in from television shows or movies and in recognition that what we see has a powerful impact on us and what our brain and our body and our cells and our chakras perceive,
Even if we're not aware of it,
We are all very sensitive to the images that we have in our environment,
Which is why it's really important to be discerning about what you want to see both with the physical eyes and with the third eye,
Because your perception and what you internalize can be tricky,
Especially if this one is not healthy and open.
When this one is excessively abuzz with energy,
You might experience chronic headaches.
You might have nightmares.
You might have difficulty concentrating.
When this one is sluggish,
Underactive,
Closed,
You might have really poor memory.
You might have pain in or around the eyes.
You might have difficulty recognizing patterns or making sense of visual interpretations of things.
Like for somebody who in simplest terms cannot do a jigsaw puzzle,
It may be that their third eye is impacting how they can recognize shapes and patterns.
But then it also goes to the patterns of choices that we make in our life.
And we can also,
When this one's deficient,
We can't visualize well.
And people who don't work well with vision boards or vision maps,
It's usually because they have a deficient sixth chakra,
Their brain can't conceptualize that what I see on this page,
I could actually create in my life or that this is me and I'm visualizing my future.
I'm visualizing the person that I want in my life or the job that I want or the home that I want.
And when we visualize,
We're not just looking at material things,
But maybe you're visualizing health and happiness and feelings and love and connection and beauty and belonging.
If you can't believe in your own visualization,
It is likely your sixth chakra is very deficient.
Practicing yoga with closed eyes or doing something safely with closed eyes can vary,
Can provide a lot of support to this energy center.
As a yoga teacher and a yoga practitioner,
I often invite people to close their eyes so that their physical eyes aren't competing with what they're seeing in the studio or the other people in the class or what's out the window or what time the clock says,
That they're really tuning into themselves and into the energy that they have within them.
Meditation.
I think there's a place for open eye meditation for sure,
Eye gazing,
Candle gazing.
But closing your eyes can tune out the external world so that you can tune into the internal world.
And I think that's really important to remember.
Taking a bath or a shower with your eyes closed can help invigorate the sixth chakra.
I love to use certain gemstones for the sixth chakra,
For all the chakras,
But I think when it comes to the sixth chakra,
Amethyst is such a powerful purple gemstone for the sixth chakra.
I think having it in your space,
Having it in your pocket,
Having it maybe on your altar or in your windowsill can be a great addition to supporting the sixth chakra or the third eye.
Lapis lazuli is another powerful stone.
It's that blue one with tinges of gold in it.
This one is great at awakening the inner wisdom.
Sodalite is another great one.
We use sodalite down in the fifth,
But you could also use it in the sixth.
And then I love purple calcite.
It's hard to find,
But it provides a very gentle,
Soothing,
Sort of stimulating our ability to imagine and to have intuition and intuition can be as simple as you're texting the person at the same time.
And all of a sudden,
While you're texting them,
They text you,
Or you think of somebody and you bump into them at the store,
Or you can't find something that you've misplaced and you think,
Gosh,
Where is it?
Where is it?
And you're spending a lot of brain cells trying to remember it.
And then all of a sudden in a mundane moment,
It hits you,
It's in the drawer.
And sure enough,
You go to the drawer and there it is.
So having gemstones in your space is amazing.
And then I love using essential oils as well.
I think they're important plant remedies that have vibrational frequencies that align with the frequencies of our energy centers.
I mean,
Anything that is matter has a frequency.
You and I have a frequency,
Plants have a frequency.
Frankincense is a great choice always to deepen spiritual connection,
To clear mental chatter,
To enhance meditation.
Sandalwood is a great one for promoting inner peace and clarity,
A connection to our higher truth,
Which comes from the third eye.
Rosemary can be a great oil for stimulating mental clarity,
Kind of clearing out the cobwebs.
I love lavender and its simplicity of just clearing the thoughts so that you can be encouraged to trust your intuition.
And then Helichrysum is a beautiful,
Beautiful laurel that connects to deep spiritual healing.
I think if you are a person that struggles with trusting yourself,
Trusting your intuition,
Trusting the guidance that you get in the form of intuition,
I think Helichrysum would be a great choice for you.
It's interesting to note the similarities between the third and the sixth.
For example,
The third is that self-confidence,
Personal power,
Will.
And then sixth is where we have to trust some of that.
We have to trust ourselves.
So I love that.
I love the mingling that they complement each other.
And remember,
The easiest affirmation for the sixth is I see.
And I'm not talking seeing with the physical eyes,
But I see.
And a few other affirmations that I love are simple in that I see with clarity and act with wisdom.
My intuition is strong and always guides me towards truth.
My mind is clear and I see the truth in all things.
I trust the messages I receive from within.
I am connected to my inner vision.
So that is the sixth chakra.
A couple yoga poses that I love for the sixth is child's pose with the forehead resting either on a mat or a block,
Anything that applies some pressure to the third eye space.
I love downward facing dog.
I love eye movement,
Even a drishti that takes your eyes over your middle fingers,
Let's say in warrior two pose or hero pose,
Looking down your nose,
Maybe even closing the physical eyes and turning the gaze inward is a beautiful,
Beautiful yoga posture of stillness.
Just looking within,
Anything that offers you a chance to look within is going to bring aliveness to the sixth chakra.
Stay tuned for the seventh and then revisit these from time to time because day to day,
Week to week,
Month to month,
Year to year,
Season to season,
Our energy centers are constantly changing,
Closing,
Opening,
Overactive,
Underactive,
And just having that awareness of what's going on in you and in your energy can be a powerful tool for healing and for staying present and being your best self.
So be on the lookout for the seventh and it was great hanging out with you.
Take care.
Bye.
Namaste.
