Venerable Sangye Khadro begins the session with several minutes of focused meditation on the breath. This exercise slowly, quietly settles the mind and allows us to focus on a single object before analytical meditation. The remainder of the meditation allows us to look at perceived threats by considering our own and others’ needs. With time this practice opens the heart to compassion and allows us an opportunity to reflect on how we might handle a similar situation or person differently.
