Hello divine being,
Welcome to Soft Edges,
A short meditation to find your edges and soften into them.
Whether you are lying on your back somewhere comfortable or sitting with a tall spine,
Begin to close down the eyes and let yourself arrive into your space.
You might place one hand on the heart space and another hand on the belly,
Or both hands on the heart.
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
Then open your mouth,
Exhale.
Another deep breath,
Breathing in through your nose,
Then let the breath go on an exhale,
Exhale,
Smooth,
Let it out.
Another deep breath in,
And a deep breath out,
Settling into the body that carries you.
Start to feel the weight of it meeting the surface beneath you,
Let your sit bones get heavy.
This is an invitation to you to not need to adjust or fix or control anything that comes up for you.
Sometimes when we settle into stillness,
The mind does the opposite.
Begin to take your awareness down to your hips,
Dropping into your belly.
Feel your legs get heavy.
Let the edges of your attention soften,
Like mist dissolving into water.
You are here to remember the softness within you.
On an inhale,
Notice the chest and belly expand,
And as you exhale,
Let tension spill from the jaw,
The shoulders,
The back.
With every breath in,
Allow the body to melt just a little more,
Feeling the subtle curves and hollows,
The spaces where your body naturally folds and rests.
Notice now if there's any places that you can soften in,
Finding your edge and then meeting it with presence.
You might anchor yourself into softness by letting your fingertips follow any contours of your body.
As you do a little scan,
Notice the warmth,
The pulse,
And the texture of your own living form,
Giving yourself permission to really luxuriate in these next moments that you carve out for yourself.
Beginning to find stillness again,
Imagining the edges of your body softening outward now,
As if you're just melting into your space,
As if you're water itself floating beyond its container.
If anything comes up for you,
Emotionally or physically,
Knowing that the intention of release is medicine,
Give yourself permission to release anything now.
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
Exhale,
Release.
Another smooth breath in,
Follow the exhale gently,
Breathe in through your nose,
Hold at the top.
This time,
Invitation to sigh it out,
Release.
These next few moments are for you and your breath.
Just noticing each breath as it comes and goes,
Gently drawing your awareness back to the body,
Noticing any subtle shifts in sensation,
There is sacredness and yielding,
And there is a deep power and softness.
With every inhalation,
Allowing the awareness to ripple through you,
Like a gentle tide washing over sand,
You are fluid,
You are alive.
Take a deep breath into that,
And let it go.
Expanding your awareness to your whole body now,
Feeling the length of your legs,
The length of your shoulders,
The gentle curve of your spine as you coax your mind back,
Knowing that this is no place to fix,
This is a space to feel,
Let yourself dwell in this softness for the rest of your day.
As you prepare to move,
Invitation to carry this sensation with you in whatever that looks like for you.
Edges softened,
Tension dissolved,
And presence embodied.
Start to bring a little gentle movement to the body,
Noticing the floor beneath you and the air around you.
As you open your eyes,
Allow yourself to bring this soft,
Fluid awareness into the room.
And so it is.
Thank you for taking the time for yourself today.
Bless your way.
