There is a beautiful line in the Hindu text,
The Bhagavad Gita.
This verse is in the Sanskrit language and goes like this,
Ātmē vahī ātmanobandhur ātmē varipurātmana This verse means,
Your mind can be one of two things,
Either your mind can be your best friend leading to freedom or your mind can be your worst enemy leading to great suffering.
Today's meditation is a training for the mind to be our best friend.
Find a comfortable space and allow your body to settle into a position that's both relaxed and open.
Gently close your eyes,
Focus on the inflow and outflow of your breath.
Notice how each inhale fills you with precious life and allow a sense of surrender in the exhale.
With a smile,
Acknowledge your decision to dedicate time out for this practice.
Invite a deep sense of goodness towards yourself as you intensely connect with your breath.
Allow the inhale to fill your heart with love and allow the exhale to loosen any tension in your body.
Smile as you flow with your inhale and your exhale.
Here you are in the now with your celebrations and tragedies,
With your castle of successes and your ruins of failures.
Here you are in the now with an inner core that is radiant and divine and magnificent,
No matter what the external.
For a moment,
Surrender all glory and shame,
Surrender every label that you give yourself.
Breathe,
My dear friend,
Breathe and let go of every judgment,
Every label.
As you breathe slow and easy,
Repeat these words to yourself with feeling,
With depth,
With love.
In this moment,
I honor and embrace all that I am.
In this moment,
I honor and embrace all that I am.
I accept all of me.
I accept all of me.
Smile,
Breathe slow and easy,
And invite a sense of surrender to wash over you.
Say yes to this dance.
Smile and send loving energy to yourself,
To the infant you,
To the little child you,
To the teenage you and the present you.
Send love to all parts of you.
Smile,
Inhale deep and open your heart to loving kindness.
Open in the nurturing cocoon of this embrace.
Repeat the following words with all your heart involved.
In the nurturing cocoon of this embrace,
Repeat the following words with all your heart involved.
May I be patient with my journey,
Understanding that growth takes time.
May I be patient with my journey,
Understanding that growth takes time.
May I be gentle with myself as I navigate the twists and turns of life.
May I be gentle with myself as I navigate the twists and turns of life.
May I be kind to myself,
Tender like the petals of a blooming flower.
May I be kind to myself,
Tender like the petals of a blooming flower.
May I feel at ease.
May I feel at ease.
May I accept all the loving kindness from myself.
May I accept all the loving kindness from myself.
I invite you to step into this lake of love and kindness for yourself.
I invite you not just to dip your toes in this love,
But to drench yourself,
Every part of your being in this never-ending reservoir of loving kindness inside you.
I'll let you embody this love for a few moments,
And my energy will guide you in about a minute.
Gently return to the awareness of your sacred breath.
Take a moment to hold on to this warm and tender space you've discovered in yourself.
You've created a new inner space in you today that accepts all of you.
The most happy,
The most wise people also have created this inner space where all parts of themselves coexist despite the contradictions.
Now,
As a new you,
Open your eyes with loving kindness.
Namaste.
