Wise guide or compassionate friend guided imagery can help you build trust in your own inner wisdom.
I invite you to make yourself as comfortable as possible.
Perhaps find a supported position in a chair or you can lie down on the floor,
Place a bolster under your knees,
Cover yourself with a blanket if you're cold,
Make yourself as cozy as you can,
Breathe and relax,
Trusting that your imagination will do the work for you.
Feel yourself supported and held by the chair or surface that you're lying on.
Take a few deep slow breaths to settle into your body,
Really arriving in your body.
How does it feel?
Maybe noticing the points of contact between your feet and the floor,
Where your hands are positioned,
Letting your breathing become even and comfortable.
Breathing is one of the most powerful conscious influences you have on your nervous system.
And then to remind your body of your intention to bring warm,
Kind awareness to your experience.
I invite you to perhaps put your hands on your heart or some other soothing,
Comforting gesture for you,
Letting your body know that you're here,
That you care.
You can position your hands wherever you are comfortable,
Knowing this type of touch is also available to you if you feel you want to connect with more warmth to your experience.
So now I invite you to imagine that you are in a beautiful,
Peaceful,
Comfortable and safe place.
Allow whatever image rises in your mind to come.
Can be imagined place,
Favorite place,
Perhaps a cabin in the woods.
There's a living room.
There's a crackling fire.
Perhaps it's a beautiful place in nature,
Sitting under an umbrella on the sand on a warm beach with a light breeze,
Or in a forest surrounded by beautiful trees.
Your safe place can be completely imaginary.
Perhaps you're floating on a cloud.
Generally try not to overthink it,
Just allow an image to form of a safe,
Comfortable,
Peaceful place.
Should more than one image come to mind,
Allow yourself to stay with one of them.
The only thing that matters is that it's a place where you feel completely comfortable and safe.
Begin to appreciate the scene with all of your senses.
Hear the sounds,
Smell the aromas,
Feel the air as it caresses your skin.
Is it cool?
Is it warm?
Touch and feel the whole environment that you're in.
Notice what you're wearing,
If you have anything on your feet.
Notice the time of year,
The time of day.
Notice how old you are there.
And notice if you're alone or if someone else is there,
Perhaps an animal.
As you look around,
Notice if there's anything else that would make this place more comfortable for you.
Perhaps something you need to remove or something you would like to bring in.
If you would like to bring someone or something else into this space,
Do it now.
And allow yourself some time to really savor the feelings of comfort and peace in this place.
Soon you're going to receive a visitor,
A warm,
Wise and compassionate presence.
Your compassionate friend.
This guide embodies the qualities of strength,
Courage,
Knowledge and especially unconditional love and acceptance.
Perhaps your friend is a spiritual figure that you've met or that you're aware of.
An ancestor,
An animal,
Maybe a wise teacher in your life.
Or perhaps someone from your past who really embodies these qualities of wisdom,
Compassion for you.
Maybe a grandparent,
Someone who truly understands you.
Just letting the image arise in your mind sight.
This being may not even have a particular form.
Perhaps it's a color,
A warm glowing light,
A presence or perhaps just a feeling.
Can you allow the image come to mind?
There can be as much or as little detail as feels right.
You may notice how old or young it is,
How large or small.
And if it's a person,
Notice how it's dressed.
And especially how its energy feels to you.
If you feel warm,
Comfortable and at ease,
That is your compassionate guide.
Your compassionate friend cares deeply about you and would like you to be happy and free from suffering.
Your friend would like to pay a visit.
And it's your choice.
You can either choose to leave your safe place and meet your friend in some other location.
Or you can invite your friend into your safe place.
It's really whatever feels the most comfortable for you.
So go ahead and take that opportunity now to greet your compassionate friend.
Imagine yourself just the right distance from your friend.
So if it's a spiritual guide you greatly respect,
Perhaps there's a little bit of respectful distance.
If it's your beloved grandmother,
You may be very close.
You can make contact in any way that feels right.
By words,
By thoughts,
By touch.
Just whatever feels right to you.
Allow yourself to feel what it's like to be in the presence of your compassionate friend who has unconditional love for you.
There's nothing you need to do except experience the moment.
See if you can receive the love for your tender heart.
Your compassionate friend is wise and all-knowing and understands exactly where you are in your life journey.
Your friend knows where you've been in your life and your paths.
Where you're going in your future and where you are right now at this point in your life's journey.
So your friend would like to tell you something,
Has a message for you.
Something that is exactly what you need to hear right now at this point in your life,
At this juncture.
If you can take a moment to really listen carefully to what your compassionate friend might have to say.
I'm going to be quiet for a minute so you can spend some important time with your wise friend.
Okay.
If no words come,
That's okay.
Just continue to enjoy the good company of your friend.
That's a blessing in itself.
And perhaps you would like to say something to your friend.
Your compassionate friend listens deeply and completely understands you.
Is there anything you would like to share?
Perhaps there's a question you may want to ask.
Your friend may also like to leave you with a gift.
A special gift like kindness or perhaps a material object.
The object might simply appear in your hands or you can put out your hands and receive one.
Something that has special meaning to you.
If something appears,
What is it?
Taking a few more moments to enjoy your compassionate friend's presence.
Maybe thanking them for their visit.
Bidding them goodbye for now,
Knowing that you can call on your compassionate friend anytime you wish.
Allowing yourself to realize that your friend is actually a part of yourself.
All the compassionate feelings,
Images and words that you're experiencing flow from your own inner wisdom and compassion,
Kindness and unconditional love.
They're always within you and available to you,
Especially when you need them the most.
Slowly and when you're ready,
Coming back,
Letting yourself savor what just happened.
Perhaps reflecting on the words that you have heard or the object that may have been given to you.
The scenery and the feelings of being in your safe space or in the presence of your loving and compassionate friend.
And letting go of the reflection and allowing yourself to feel whatever you feel and to be exactly as you are.
Your wise guide is a messenger from your inner self and you know what is best for you.
It sometimes takes several journeys before a guide appears.
Be patient with yourself.
Thank you.
You.
