Hello and welcome to this guided meditation for the root chakra or the muladhara chakra.

This chakra is so important in forming our energetic foundation.

Now what we mean by this is it is the first chakra at the base of the spine.

It correlates with the colour red and we look at it as this emotional energetic foundation on which all of our emotions rely on almost to support us,

To hold us.

It's where we ground ourselves and connect to Mother Earth.

Now when this chakra is unbalanced we might feel on edge,

We might feel unsafe,

Disconnected,

We might feel as though we are living in fight or flight.

And this root chakra or muladhara energy is really formed during our formative years,

During our childhood.

So it's quite common that this chakra feels unbalanced when we are feeling emotional triggers from when we were children.

It's during the development of this chakra that we also learn about our beliefs,

Traditions and values from our parents or our caregivers and a lot of those things are unlearned during our life.

We might learn to do things a better,

More healthier way.

During that process it can also feel quite unsettling and unsafe for us in our energetic and emotional body.

So it's even more important when we are doing deep inner child healing work that we maintain a balance in our root chakra.

So as we go through this guided meditation to rebalance and reconnect with the root chakra you should feel less anxious,

Safer in your body and really rediscover a sense of trust of yourself,

Your emotions and just feeling more balanced and grounded,

Connected,

Creating that stable foundation that we all deserve to exist in every day.

So to begin this beautiful journey we're about to take with each other,

Please get comfortable.

Now if you really want to concentrate your energies on the rebalancing of this sacred space that sits at the base of the spine it is advised that you are sitting up during this meditation,

Just making sure that your back is fully supported,

Maybe leaning against a wall or in a straight back chair.

However if that is not comfortable then please feel free to lie on a bed or a yoga mat.

Just do whatever feels most comfortable and aligned with what you need today.

First let's just arrive in this moment,

Taking a deep breath and sighing it out.

There is absolutely nothing you need to be doing right now apart from focusing on your own healing,

On the sound of my voice and any instructions I might give.

Really striving to connect with your emotional and energetic body as we move through this meditation.

And we begin this journey as we begin most meditation journeys and that is with our breathing.

Just beginning to lengthen every breath,

Especially our exhales really striving to drag out the length of our exhalations.

And as you're breathing you're becoming more settled,

Your muscles are relaxing even more,

You're becoming more and more centred and grounded in this moment.

You're slowly removing any tension that you have been holding in your body,

Allowing your face to relax your jaw,

To loosen slightly your shoulders peeling away from your ears and settling.

Just focusing all of that attention on the rise and the fall,

Not of the chest but of the body.

And if you're sitting up noticing how grounded your sit bones feel with their contact on the earth beneath you.

And if you're lying down noticing how your spine is resting and is supported by the yoga mat or the mattress,

Wherever you're lying.

And every breath leads to this sinking,

This further opening and surrender.

An embrace of this moment and of your own healing.

Acknowledging that any thoughts that might arise can be let go of when that thought comes in,

Releasing it on your next exhalation.

Simply recognising that thoughts naturally drift in and out,

Especially during meditation.

When you have dedicated this quiet time to yourself it's only natural that thoughts you are perhaps distracted from start to arrive.

But the foundation of this practice is to not hold onto and to not persist with this out of control thinking.

When they arrive we let them go with the next breath,

Maintaining that practice throughout the meditation.

And on your next inhale visualising a silver white light filling your entire body.

And as you inhale as it travels down into your lungs and then is carried around the body,

This silvery white light follows every vein,

Every capillary,

Every cell,

Every part of the body is coated by this beautiful white light.

Cleansing the energetic,

The physical,

The emotional body as it moves,

Gently flooding your entire body.

And eventually you feel this white light condense down to one place on your body at the base of your spine,

The seat of the root chakra.

And you notice that this white light that has covered your entire essence begins to turn a deep red,

The colour of the root chakra.

And as your attention is focused solely on this place in your energetic body,

You can almost imagine a flower,

Whether that's a rose or a lotus or any flower that you identify with.

This bright red flower sitting at the base of your spine begins to open up,

Unpeeling every petal,

Almost becoming brighter with every breath that you take.

And not only does this beautiful red flower become brighter and more vibrant,

It almost glows.

And as it glows,

You might begin to feel a warmth or a heat at the base of the spine,

Acknowledging this connection between the physical and the energetic body and how intrinsically connected they are when we really focus our attention.

And really focusing on how it feels when this flower opens and unpeels its petals for you.

What emotions come to the surface when we connect with the energetic space,

This energetic vortex that is the root chakra?

What questions start to come to the surface?

Maybe you begin thinking about childhood memory.

Maybe you start questioning what can you offer yourself to create a stronger feeling of trust and security.

Flower opens up so much and it is glowing so brightly that it is ready to help ground you and connect you to Mother Earth and it does that by sending its roots down through your energetic body into the earth beneath you.

Now this is something you can do every morning when you wake up when you first make contact with the earth with your feet and it's incredibly powerful in visualizing these roots winding their way down connecting with the earth underneath you with the land.

It is scientifically proven to help anxiety,

Stress and even jet lag when we truly ground ourselves.

And so we not only feel these roots move from this glowing red flower at the base of our spine but we also see them in our mind's eye we see and we feel these roots and noticing that it almost solidifies your energy.

You might even notice that you sit a little straighter that the focus at the base of the spine feels that much stronger.

And just taking in a few affirmations as you really ground yourself in this practice.

I am grounded and connected.

I am supported by the universe.

I am connected to my inner child.

I trust my journey on this earth.

I belong.

Noticing if any of those affirmations speak to you.

Seeing how safe you feel now and how grounded you feel now after taking part in this practice.

The root chakra is such an important aspect of our daily practice.

Rebalancing and grounding our energies using the root chakra helps us face the day from a really balanced state.

Now what this means is that any difficulties we face throughout our day although they might feel challenging regardless of this practice you can now meet them from a place of peace.

A place where you're no longer feeling in a state of heightened emotion.

Facilitating this opportunity to find clarity.

Find presence.

And maybe even make more well-rounded decisions.

Noticing if your breathing has become a little distracted and re-centering that attention.

Inhaling trust.

Exhaling fear.

Inhaling peace.

And exhaling everything that no longer serves you.

Inhaling support and protection.

Exhaling anxiety and worry.

You are this great wise tree connected to Mother Earth.

Grounded,

Secure,

Safe and always held by the universe and its wisdom.

We also acknowledge that the root chakra is the energetic foundation on which all of our other chakras sit.

So you can imagine if we neglect this chakra and we focus for example only on the higher chakras and the crown or the third eye it leaves this emptiness and this vulnerability in our energetic foundations that are so important.

And as we near the end of this meditation just taking a final note of how it feels at the base of the spine.

Where this bright glowing red flower sits.

And affirming my root chakra is balanced,

Connected and grounded.

Noticing the natural rhythm of your breathing as you just start to breathe in a more relaxed way as we come back to our physical body.

Wiggling the toes and the fingertips.

Maybe turning onto your side if you're lying down.

Keeping the eyes closed if you have kept your eyes closed during this meditation.

Maybe stretching out your legs if you've been sitting up.

And arriving back into the body.

Thank you so much for being here today.

Your presence in the world is appreciated and valued.

I hope to see you here again.

Take care and many blessings.

Thank you.
