Hello my name is Naomi and I am going to be guiding you through this calming birth meditation.

Through this process we will be letting go of fear,

Connecting deeply with the present moment and helping you find trust in your body's natural ability to bring new life into the world.

You can listen to this meditation during labour or in preparation for birth.

Please know that you are capable,

Strong and supported.

Let's begin by making sure that you're as comfortable as possible in this moment.

Doing exactly what feels right for you and your baby.

Closing your eyes gently and taking a deep calming breath in through your nose,

Filling your lungs completely.

Holding that breath for just a moment and then sighing out your breath on the exhale,

Releasing tension,

Releasing any stiffness that you've been holding on to.

Now begin to breathe slowly or at your own pace,

Allowing each exhale to help you relax more deeply.

Setting the intention that with every breath you're inviting in more space,

More peace.

You're letting go of resistance and you are opening up to this process.

As you breathe in,

You're welcoming in peace,

Strength,

But also softening and surrendering.

As you breathe out,

You're letting go of fear,

Tension and worry.

With each breath you can feel yourself becoming more connected to the natural rhythm that your body is moving through.

Now we're going to intentionally let go of any tension that we're holding on to across our entire body.

On the top of the head,

Relaxing your forehead,

Your eyes,

Your cheeks and your jaw,

Allowing your shoulders to drop and feel the tension just melt away.

If you're able to,

Allow your arms to rest comfortably,

Feeling them become heavy and relaxed.

Let this relaxation flow down your body,

From your shoulders all the way down your arms and down your back,

Into your hips and pelvis.

Feeling your legs becoming soft and at ease,

All the way down to your feet and toes.

And as you continue to breathe deeply and evenly,

Bring to mind the waves of the ocean.

Each contraction you experience during labor is like a wave,

Building up in intensity and then gradually receding.

These waves are a natural part of the birthing process,

Helping to bring your baby closer to you and into your arms.

Breathe with every wave,

Knowing that it is a sign of progress and that it will eventually pass just as the ocean waves rise and fall,

Your breath rises and falls.

You are a part of nature,

This sacred journey,

This sacred transformation that you're going through,

Into motherhood,

Rising and falling,

Just like the waves and the ocean.

If you're comfortable enough to lie down,

Bring to mind the image of yourself floating in the water,

The ocean holding you and carrying you.

It holds you so well that you couldn't possibly have any tension running through your body.

You are safe,

You are held and you are strong.

Each wave,

Each contraction is a reminder of your body's incredible ability to open up,

To expand,

To bring new life into the world.

As the waves of contractions come and go,

Remember to focus on your breath,

Using your breath as that anchor,

To draw in strength,

To draw in calm.

Every exhale is releasing any fear and discomfort.

Repeat this to yourself with every wave,

Finding your own unique rhythm and trusting in the process.

Your body is an open,

Expansive vessel perfectly designed for this moment.

Your pelvis is wide and open,

Allowing your baby to move down smoothly and easily.

Your cervix is soft and pliable,

Gently opening with every contraction.

Trust in your body's wisdom,

Knowing that it is working perfectly to bring your baby into the world.

Now bring your awareness to your heart and feel the love and connection you have with your baby,

Growing stronger with each passing moment.

The love that you feel for your baby is a guiding light,

Giving you strength and courage.

Imagine this love as a warm golden light,

Radiating from your heart and filling your entire body with this loving energy.

And as you continue to relax and breathe deeply,

Let this golden light expand beyond your body,

Surrounding you and your baby in a protective,

Loving embrace.

Know that you are supported by the universe,

By the wisdom of all the women who have ever birthed before you,

And by the strength within yourself.

If you are listening to this meditation in preparation for birth,

Visualize yourself on the day of your baby's arrival.

Visualize everything unfolding smoothly and calmly.

See yourself moving through each contraction with ease.

You are overflowing with trust in your body's ability to birth your baby.

And if you are listening to this during labor,

Stay connected to your breath and the rhythm of the waves that are moving through you.

Let each wave carry you closer to your baby,

Closer to the moment when you will hold them in your arms.

Know that you are doing an incredible job,

And that every wave is bringing you closer to the end of this journey.

I trust my body and its natural ability to birth my baby.

Each contraction brings me closer to meeting my baby.

I am strong,

Capable and ready for this journey.

I am surrounded by love and support.

My body knows exactly what to do.

I am calm,

Relaxed and in control.

My baby and I are working together in perfect harmony.

I release fear and welcome my baby with open arms.

Every breath brings me peace and strength.

I am patient and I trust in the timing of my labor.

I am opening and trusting my intuition.

My body is designed to birth my baby naturally and effortlessly.

I am connected to the wisdom of all the women who have birthed before me.

I listen to my body and I honor its needs.

Continue to listen to the sound of the waves and allow them to guide you through the contraction,

The breathing and this entire process.

You are doing a wonderful job.

Keep going.

Keep trusting yourself.

You've got this.
