Daoist Hall of Light Meditation.
This meditation works with the upper Dantian,
Or third eye,
And is called celestial meditation,
Or the Hall of Light.
This energy center is part of a greater grouping of points in the head called the nine palaces,
Or jiu gong.
When we intentionally place attention here during meditation,
We energize and stimulate this important point.
While this practice can be powerful to do in the evening,
Be sure to bring the energy back down to your lower Dantian,
Or feet,
When finished.
Otherwise,
You may have trouble sleeping.
As you start doing this meditation,
First try it in the morning.
Sit on the edge of a chair or a cushion,
Standing or even lying down.
Begin your meditation as usual,
Breathing deeply and slowly into your lower Dantian.
Keep your eyes closed so that you can see with inner vision.
Now raise your attention to the level of your third eye,
Which is in between your eyebrows and one inch inside your head.
Breathe slowly into this area.
Try to feel the depth of that point by sending your intention inside your brain.
As you inhale,
Inhale golden light into this area.
As you exhale,
Send red light into the darkness of your spiritual ignorance,
Lighting the way for you to reach deeper understanding and insight.
So again,
As we did with filling the Jade Pond meditation,
We are inhaling this healing or golden light.
Only this time when we exhale,
We are exhaling the red light.
And really in your mind's eye,
See that red light going out into the darkness and opening new areas of experience,
Of wisdom,
Of knowledge,
And really feel this point in your body,
This upper Dantian really soften and open.
And as you feel it open,
Feel how this affects other places in your energetic body,
Invigorating or healing them as needed.
So inhaling golden light,
Exhaling red light.
Red is also the color of the summer of the element fire,
Which is connected to our heart.
This place that you are entering,
The inner palace is where transformation happens.
It is where deep internal healing of the mind and heart happens.
It is where you can be gifted with inner vision and psychic perception.
So spend some time in this important spiritual psychic center.
You may see colors,
Light,
Or other visions.
Enjoy them,
But do not hold on to them.
Painful.
And great.
When you finish,
Bring your attention back down to your lower Dantian,
Your lower abdomen.
Never leave too much energy in the head as it can cause insomnia or headaches.
If you feel dizzy or have a stuffed up feeling in your head,
Bring your attention all the way down to the bottoms of your feet.
You can also massage the bottoms of your feet,
Which is a great way to clear up any head chi problems.
So you can follow along in this guided meditation or just on your own by bringing your attention again to your upper Dantian.
Dantian means field of elixir or field of medicine.
The upper Dantian is the third eye point between the eyebrows and about an inch inside your head.
And as you meditate,
Remember to bring in golden light on the inhale,
Exhale the red light,
And feel this point soften and open.
And just go along with whatever sensations or visions or guidance that you may receive at this point.
And then when you are finished,
Once again,
Bring your palms together,
Rub them briskly together 36 times.
Place your palms over your eyes and inhale the warmth of your hands,
Of your Lao Gong point into your brain.
And then rotate your eyes nine times one direction.
And then nine times the other direction.
And then brush your palms up and down your face,
Up over the top of your head,
And down behind your ears to come together in front of your heart center.
