Hello my name is Jen Edwards and today I will be guiding you through a practice
to support our nervous systems and to support our over activity and over
reactivity within our body.
Those reflexes that show up in our lives
powerfully filled with energy so if it feels safe and comfortable for you it's
finding an easy seated position or lying down whatever feels comfortable and safe
for you in this moment and gently softening your eyes allowing your
eyelids to gently close if that doesn't feel safe or comfortable for you
perhaps finding one thing to keep your eyes steady on finding an object that
isn't moving finding a little steadiness here with your eyes closed or your gaze
soft perhaps allowing your shoulders to soften maybe even taking a minute to
rotate or move your neck to allow for the rigidity and the tightness within
your neck and your shoulders to move.
So you may soften allowing space.
Begin to
softly feel your breath moving in your body connecting to the breath moving in
and the breath moving out.
Feeling your breath move and travel through your body
and lengthening your inhales and lengthening your exhales.
Inhaling full
and exhaling completely.
Feeling the movement of breath through your body.
Oftentimes when our lives get busy or the habits creep in of keeping ourselves busy
or outside stress or inside stress creeps into the cells of our bodies we become tight
we become rigid physically and emotionally.
Those reflexes are a manner or a form of
protection we build around ourselves.
Keeping ourselves over capacity we must find moments
of recovery for our system for respite and for healing throughout our whole body.
So as we move breath in our bodies full and with purpose we are allowing our bodies chemistry to
alter and to shift to settle the tightness to settle the restriction within our bodies
and the reactivity within our thoughts.
When you are hungry you eat when you are thirsty you drink
when you have an illness or an ailment so often you find a remedy in medicine our nervous systems
medicine is our breath intentional movement of breath through our body.
When you allow yourself
to move your breath fully as you inhale and fully as you exhale it is as if you were opening a
medicine cabinet but it is one you have within yourself at all times.
Stay connected to your
breath being mindful that each and every cycle of breath is shifting the chemistry within your body
is healing your body it's allowing your blood to move a little slower your breath to be a little
more steady your organs to be supported and the cells within your body that are rigid and tense
to settle and to be filled with ease.
As you relax your body and move your breath can you
visualize your entire body steadying slowing softening in this moment all awareness needs
only be with your breath calming your body soothing your body moving your breath softly
begin to notice the ground beneath you while you continue to move breath full in your body
just feeling the ground the support maybe noticing the pressure of the ground supporting
your body your whole entire body is grounded your whole body is safe and your whole body is at ease
your breath is here to soothe your body your breath is your remedy for this moment
allow the medicine of your breath to hold space for you in this moment to help you
recover and to hold you feeling your breath moving in and moving out following your breath
feeling the shift the steadiness and the grounding reminding yourself that at any
moment you have the ability to find this steadiness to soften your body and to
connect with your breath to open the medicine cabinet and utilize the power that you carry
with you gently and softly bring yourself back into your body into the space you are in softly
opening your eyes feeling your body feeling this space feeling the grounding and the
moment of regulation through your nervous system I hope you carry throughout your day
this feeling of grounding and support and I hope you remember to utilize your breath
because it is here for you at any moment thank you for sharing space with me and I
hope you have a wonderful day
