
Liquid Awareness (Guided Meditation)

Sinking into the moment is where true safety lies. The deeper into the body you go, the more it begins to feel as if you are sitting in a bath, where you can’t tell where your skin ends and the water begins. This is the power of Awareness, and what this meditation helps you access.
Transcript
Being is already occurring.
We can think that we're going somewhere,
There's some journey here,
But in a way there's no journey at all.
It's more of like giving up the search,
Giving up the journey,
Giving up everything.
So let yourself just be and be held by the moment.
And so we're just gonna deepen,
Deepen awareness,
Deepen and widen what's already here.
And let's just check together this awareness,
This awareness that has been there your whole life.
When you first opened your eyes and before you opened your eyes on this planet,
There was a awake awareness watching.
And already that awareness is infinitely vast.
It is so soft and sweet.
And it is endlessly quiet.
The mind can't catch this,
It can't know this,
It can't grasp it because awareness is what sees the mind and what's holding the mind and what's loving the mind and what permeates the mind with spacious silence.
So let those mind bubbles just pop into the awareness.
They come and they go,
They're of no consequence.
And they are welcome,
It's not,
They're in no way a problem.
They are part of the infinite like waves in the ocean.
We're gonna be more aware of the oceanness instead of the waves,
That's all.
So letting awareness just fall into the breath.
And that's a savoring because awareness wants every single inch,
It wants to feel into every single square inch of your chest and your lungs.
It wants to feel the crevices in between the ribs and inside the spine and it wants to feel the undulations of the belly,
It doesn't want to miss a thing.
So letting awareness,
We're just sort of letting awareness come in.
Like receiving a lover or a hug from a friend.
We're just letting them touch us,
Letting awareness touch the inner life inside your diaphragm and letting the belly soften.
Letting awareness pour through the sternum and the front of the belly and down through the pelvis,
All through the front just softening and relaxing,
Letting the breath expand you,
Letting awareness expand you.
And then all through the back body,
Feeling the breath in the back of the ribs,
In the back of the heart,
The back of the solar plexus and down through the lower back,
The whole torso just naturally moving,
Being breathed.
Awareness savoring the whole being,
The whole torso,
The whole movement.
Mind can't know it,
Can't touch it really,
But awareness can.
Awareness can touch your being,
Can touch the moment.
And we're not going anywhere but here.
It's just a deepening.
As you feel into the breath,
Feel how it just opens your pelvis as well,
That the breath has this enlivening quality.
So if you could just feel into the pelvic girdle,
Just bringing awareness to touch into the hip joints and deep inside the pelvis right in the middle and to the front and the sides and to the back,
Letting awareness fall into the pelvis.
And these sounds have a reverberation.
They penetrate like awareness does.
You can sense,
You can feel,
They point out the sensation inside the pelvis,
Inside the torso.
So you're opening the body,
Just letting the body be touched.
And mind might distract,
Might tell a story about a sensation,
But it's not safe for a thousand other distractions.
But just for now,
Find out for yourself as awareness what is it to touch the inside of the pelvis through the hip joints and through the full wideness of your hips.
And all through the lower back and the very bottom of the vertebrae and down through the tailbone,
Letting the sound reverberate there.
And letting the pelvis just fall open like flower petals,
Just handing the body over,
Handing the body over to life.
It's already living you.
The body doesn't need a manager.
In fact,
It does much better the less we're involved.
All we need to do is be in touch,
We being the awareness.
And if you can feel inside those hips and then down through the legs a bit from the inside,
Letting the legs vibrate with the sound,
Savoring the aliveness inside your legs and your pelvis.
Down through the knees and the lower legs,
Awareness,
This fast,
Quiet awareness,
Bathing the legs.
And just like a warm bath,
We start to soften and the line between the skin and the water softens.
What if our whole legs are like water?
What if we're more like water than we are solid?
That the hips and the pelvis all through the legs and down through the ankles now and the feet.
And down through the toes and feeling the pads of the feet and the bones and the aliveness on the bottoms of our feet.
It's okay if thought is going,
But this vast awareness,
Soaking through the legs and the feet from awareness's point of view,
We are an open system,
We are connected completely.
From awareness,
Feel how your legs are more like water.
There's a fluidity between you and the space around you,
You in the chair.
All that energy flows.
Feel how the music vibrates through,
Moves through.
It doesn't stop at the skin.
And let yourself be held in this bigger body,
This water body.
Let the whole lower half of you be like water.
Bathed and bathed and bathed.
The warm water of awareness just softening everything.
Great.
And let's come back up to that belly area,
Letting awareness soak through.
It's very gentle awareness.
It's fresh and clean,
Like clean spring water.
And it's gentle.
It soothes the solar plexus as it slowly soaks through and turns the solar plexus itself into water.
It's very safe to let everything be touched and alchemized,
Transformed through that touch.
So just soaking through the back of the solar plexus,
The back body,
And then letting awareness just feel through,
Soak through each organ and letting the music bathe it and bathe it.
So to be seen,
To be touched by this pure water of awareness is to heal.
The belly is so soft now,
So liquid,
And all through the back of the chest,
The ribs,
The lungs,
The heart,
Letting that awareness just slowly permeate,
Feeling through.
Notice how the sound gets into the tissues and the bones.
Notice how it can bathe the sternum.
When we bring awareness to how sound is hitting us,
It sort of helps alchemize it.
We're getting a sound bath and an awareness bath at the same time,
And the body feels safe and held,
Attended to,
Loved.
So let your body be loved.
Let yourself be touched.
It's very safe,
Such a safe touch.
All through the collarbone,
Letting it liquefy as awareness just feels all the way through,
As sound permeates the bones.
There's no strain here if you find yourself efforting or trying.
It's totally fine.
Just come on back to plain old awareness,
That which is looking,
And let it be passive.
Let yourself be held in awareness,
Be.
.
.
Receive the sound.
You don't have to go out to it.
Let it come to you.
Utterly passive,
Nothing to do.
Receiving the massage of your own being,
Your own presence.
And all through those shoulder blades in the back,
Let's let sound just bathe and liquefy the bones,
The joints,
The shoulders.
Shoulders.
All this energy,
All this liquid inside from inside your shoulders.
Notice,
We can't tell where the shoulders begin and end.
There is one body here,
And it's yours.
But it's so much bigger than this form.
This form is connected to the endless formless.
It's made of it.
So feel the formlessness,
The liquid nature of your arms now.
How they're open to sound,
Open to awareness.
Feeling into the wrists and the hands,
All through the skin of the arms.
Letting yourself be massaged by awareness,
Liquefied by sound.
It's very safe to let the body connect with its bigger body.
Let the body be its formlessness,
Its truest nature.
And through the hands,
Letting the hands liquefy,
Soften.
Let's just feel before we go onto the neck,
The whole arms and torso and legs reverberating with sound,
Softening with awareness,
Having permeated the body.
Aware of the continuous nature of inside and outside the body.
And how soothing that is,
How safe that feels,
Not to the mind,
But in the body itself.
And let's let that reverberation of sound go up through the neck.
Letting the spine liquefy inside the neck.
The esophagus,
Muscles,
The throat.
You're letting yourself be held,
Be bathed.
You just lean back.
No doing required,
No doing ever required.
The doer can be in retirement.
Welcome to be here,
But not as captivating,
Not as sweet as letting your throat open.
Letting yourself be bathed in sound and awareness.
From awareness,
Can we feel the liquid nature of our neck?
The open nature of our being.
Can we let ourselves float and liquefy?
Up through the head now,
The back of the head.
And letting that sound just soak through the back of the skull and the back of the brain.
Letting it move through that energy line from the spine all the way through the top of the head.
So passive,
Such an allowing,
Allowing of the being to more fully be,
Be fully expressed,
Fully opened.
And letting the sounds just soak through the brain and the top of the skull and the sides of the skull,
Wrapping around,
Soaking through the forehead.
Allowing yourself to be bathed,
Reclining,
And just letting awareness do it.
You don't have to do a thing.
In through the eyes,
Center of the head,
What is it to just let awareness permeate the middle of the head,
Letting a sound permeated and liquefy it.
Through the sinus passages and the nose,
The temples,
Back of the throat and the roof of the mouth.
Letting the music just open it and liquefy it a little at a time,
All just to be savored and enjoyed.
The body loves to be held and awareness loves to be reconnected to its true body,
Its bigger body.
All through the jaws and the cheeks now,
Just feeling through,
Letting it be liquefied by sound,
By awareness,
The teeth and the tongue,
The lips,
The ears.
Really coming back to that very back of the head where the spine meets the brain again,
Just to let sound really bathe that area.
Now let's feel the whole body continuing to liquefy,
Continuing to dissolve.
None of the thoughts are true.
There's nothing that's lost here.
So much is gained.
You gained your true support.
So as you just from awareness feel the whole body liquefying with sound and the bath of awareness,
Starting to feel into the room itself.
From inside the body all the way through to the so-called outside of the body.
Expanding that awareness a few feet beyond the skin,
A few feet above the head,
And through the chair down into the ground.
Noticing this spaciousness,
This oneness,
Letting awareness feel,
Letting the whole body feel.
It's oneness body.
It's ocean body,
Not a separate wave,
One ocean.
And the sound reverberates through the whole ocean.
You can let your body just keep opening and expanding and softening.
A very natural process,
No effort,
Totally passive.
Aware of the feeling of sound.
We can also be aware of that deep,
Deep dimension of the ocean,
Which is silence.
And in amongst those sounds,
There is this pure,
Clean sense of quiet.
It is an ocean of quiet.
The ocean has those quiet,
Quiet depths.
And then all this aliveness emerging out of it.
So let awareness just fall into that silence,
Into the depth that is all around you and all inside of you.
A continuous silence that is oceans and oceans and oceans big.
So so so just keep letting the silence have you and have you and dissolve you and dissolve you.
It's already got you.
It's already who you are.
Just letting that quietest thing here be what you fall into.
Let all the awareness go to the ocean of quiet.
So so so we just keep letting the body float and dissolve and be held in this past silence.
It's an endless exploration and merger.
So so this fresh silence that is everywhere,
Permitting everything.
It's at the root of everything.
It's the source of everything.
It wants to go touch those achy bits like water wants to come in wherever it can.
So if there's a spot a spot that feels especially dull or achy or or painful or a little numb,
See if you can just let this ocean of quiet soak it.
Let it be touched dissolved.
Notice how much silence wants to hold you,
Every part of you.
So so so so You can keep letting thoughts or emotions be like sticks in the ocean.
No big deal.
There is an ocean here.
Don't bother with the sticks.
An ocean of quiet soaked through every part of you,
Endlessly vast and so supportive to just keep melting into,
Liquefying into your truer nature.
Liquefying into your truer nature.
Very safe.
And from the ocean's perspective,
It certainly doesn't mind the waves.
So so so so Staying connected as this vast motion of silence.
We can also hear whether your body might like a stretch.
We can take our time opening our eyes and listening when it's ripe for us.
In fact,
We can hear so much more clearly as the silent awareness,
Silent ocean of awareness,
Than we can as a contracted being.
So taking our time to just stretch and be aware of any body needs or desires as we slowly,
Slowly open our eyes,
Rejoin each other.
