During a two year sabatical in 2014 whilst living in the heights of the misty Blue Mountains, Sim contemplated deeply how to live each day and practice the virtues offered for humanity in various traditions, religions and more recently in psychology. These universal values, such as gratitude, authenticity, transcendence became of clear importance and Sim wished to share these in a profound manner. In this 3 minute talk, Sim speaks from her heart, about the importance of leading a fulfilling life of connection and contribution.

Humanity.

When we move from our own place of suffering and take a breather to look around,

Someone else's life story can resonate a deep understanding and empathy for all of humanity.

From this realization comes a spontaneous desire for reconciliation and generosity.

Compassionate ecology is where you create effective action guided by your own loving kindness for all that is.

Often we come to that complex question,

Is this action being motivated from fear or is this a reaction that's inspired?

Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.

So when you stop and listen to your own inner voice or the sensations in your body,

You can become more discerning over time and over experiences.

It's the ability to make healthy decisions for yourself,

For your life direction.

And it's an ongoing practice,

One that involves regular reflection,

Discerning the experiences and where are they coming from and what is.

Authenticity and what is integrity for you.

And yes,

It does take courage to be authentic in your everyday activities and encounters.

It takes courage and perseverance,

Empowered by your own desire for truth and a desire of self-expression.

Life requires you to have that resilience in the face of adversity.

If you let your authenticity hide and become something else or someone else for others,

You'll soon lose that vitality.

Keep to your own truth and you'll find that vitality and energy is there for you.

To transcend from the absolute mundane is to rise into the blissful and beautiful state of gratitude and hope.

Be optimistic about your future.

Hold that as truth for you.
