Rasas - The Emotions
Rasa is a hindi/ sanskrit word which means Juice. Nav means Nine. In Tantra, emotions are considered to be the juice of life. This meditation explores Navrasas, or nine emotions - these nine are considered to be the core emotions. Other emotions are some or the other permutation/ combination of these nine emotions. As you explore these nine, you end with the emotion of Peace - this peace is not empty of emotions, instead it's viewed as a pregnant pause that contains all the other emotions in it.

The rasas or the emotions.
This meditation requires that you are able to ground yourself whenever needed.
Grounding is the skill of being able to come back to your body,
Coming back to the safety that is in you at any given moment.
And so coming back into the connect to that safe,
Secure,
Stable ground is grounding.
If you don't have the practice of grounding,
I would not recommend moving ahead with this meditation.
If you have the grounding practice with you,
Then I welcome you into this rasas meditation.
And through this guided meditation,
We'll go through nine different rasas.
So moving into your seat.
And bringing awareness to the contact between your seat,
Your hips,
Your sitting bones,
The entire pelvic floor.
In contact with the seat that's under you,
Whether it's the bare ground,
The floor.
Carpet or a mat,
Or even sofa or a chair.
As you feel into this contact,
Allow the awareness to start rising up through this contact into the pelvic floor.
Feeling into the root chakra at the perineum.
Moving this awareness up further into the sacral chakra,
Just above the pubic bone.
Up still into the solar plexus about four fingers above the navel.
And allowing it to rise further up to the heart chakra,
The center of the chest.
Continuing to rise to the throat chakra.
At the throat and moving up to the bindu point.
The point between the eyebrows,
The third eye chakra.
Moving up from there into the crown,
The top of your head.
And for a moment,
Align yourself to experience all the seven in the straight central channel within the body.
From the top to the bottom,
The root,
The sacral,
The solar,
The heart,
The throat,
Third eye and the crown.
And with the next breath in,
Align your being to expand as the body expands.
And with the breath out,
Align yourself to fall deeply into your seat.
And now allowing the rasa,
The emotion of Shringar to fall into you or for you to fall into Shringararasa of romance,
Love,
Attraction and beauty.
And allow yourself to really taste in to this rasa,
This juice of this emotion.
And see what shifts in your face,
What shifts in the heart chakra,
What shifts in the sacral chakra,
What shifts in the solar plexus.
And seeing if the body wants to gently move a little,
Maybe in waves right to left,
Front to back or any other movement,
Being mindful and aware of the movement and moving into that movement with the body.
Noticing your breath.
And with the next inhale,
Align yourself to expand with Shringarar and with the exhale,
Align the energy of the romance,
The love,
Attraction and beauty to flow through and leave for now,
Making space.
As you breathe in,
Bringing in with you,
Hassam,
Joy,
Laughter,
Mirth and comedy.
And noticing what happens in the face,
What happens in the solar plexus,
In the belly,
In the root chakra,
In the throat chakra.
As you immerse in this rasa,
In this joy,
Laughter,
Mirth and comedy.
Allowing yourself to fully embody it and allowing your body to express it however it wants,
Flowing in with the body as the body moves.
Times the movement is just inside and then just noticing those sensations,
Those shifts within and at times the body might want to move in the outside.
And so following that mindfully with gentleness and care.
And with the next in-breath,
Feeling in fully into the hassam and with the out-breath,
Letting it go,
Allowing space for the next emotion of radhram.
Anger,
Rage,
Fury,
Outrage and sensing how the body shifts as radhram inhabits it.
Knowing that you can ground at any moment,
Allow yourself as is the capacity for now of your being to fully let radhram inhabit this body and feel into it.
Sensing the shifts in the chakras as radhram rises,
The rage,
The fury,
The outrage.
Noticing the tightness of the muscles across the body.
Noticing the facial gestures.
Now as much as your capacity is,
As you inhale allowing this radhram to completely consume you for the moment,
Just until the exhale and then with the exhale,
Exhaling through the mouth.
Letting every bit of it release till it empties out.
And once again inhale and exhaling it all out,
Feeling your base,
Feeling your pelvic floor and the connect of your seat to the seat.
With the next inhale,
Allowing the emotion that comes in as you allow for anger to fully explore,
Comes in the emotion of grief,
Of sadness.
And which carries with it the potential of Karunayam,
Compassion,
Mercy and allowing the body to feel into both parts of this coin of Karunayam.
The grief,
The sadness and the compassion and mercy that is carried along.
Again noticing the heart chakra,
Noticing the sacral,
Noticing the root,
Noticing the throat,
Noticing the solar.
If you did not,
Then maybe soaking into a bit of the compassion and the mercy of Karunayam.
And witnessing how the compassion,
The mercy moves in your body,
Manifests in your body.
And with the next gentle inhale,
Allowing for the compassion to expand and with the exhale,
Allowing for all of the grief,
Sadness,
Compassion,
Mercy to leave for now.
Making space for bibhatsam,
Disgust and feeling into how disgust lands in your body,
What shifts in your gestures in the face and the body.
What images,
Thoughts,
Events come to mind as you allow disgust to flow through you in this moment.
And maybe also noticing any accompanying emotions as you feel into the disgust,
The bibhatsam.
Noticing what happens to the chakras across as you allow to seep in to bibhatsam.
And as you inhale,
Allowing bibhatsam to fully manifest in this body for a few moments,
Just until you exhale it all out,
All of it out.
Making space for the next emotion of payanakam,
Fear,
Terror and noticing what probably shifts in the body.
Noticing if there's a fall in the temperature in the body that you sense.
Noticing the sensations,
Seeing what happens to the root chakra maybe,
The heart chakra.
Just for a few moments being grounded,
Feeling into payanakam,
All of your fears,
The terror.
And with the next in breath,
Being grounded,
Allowing for a few moments for this fear to completely manifest in this moment.
And with the next exhale,
Fully let it out through the mouth.
Once again,
Inhale.
And as you exhale through the mouth,
Let all of the fear and terror leave every single inch of the body.
As you allow the fear to manifest and flow through,
It flows through and leaves,
Making space for the rasa of viram,
Heroism,
Courage,
Valiance.
Notice how the body shifts as the courage,
The heroism,
The valiance comes in,
Flows in.
Notice your shoulders open up.
If not,
Then open them up to fully allow viram to inhabit you.
Notice the chest opening.
Notice the strength in the gut.
Notice the rootedness of the root as this heroism,
Courage and valiance of viram takes over.
And with the next in breath,
Allow the viram to expand in your being.
And as you exhale,
Settle with the left energy of the viram and make space for the emotion,
For the rasa of atpottam,
Having gone through the range of emotions,
Bringing in the wonder,
The amazement,
The curiosity of a child.
The sparkle in the eyes.
The longing to learn,
The longing to explore.
And see where in the body this wonder exists in you.
And wherever you find the wonder existing,
Notice the sensation that it manifests in.
And then allow for the sensation to expand through your body,
Opening up every chakra into a space of expansion.
With the next in breath,
Allowing this atpottam to expand itself through your being.
And as you exhale,
Find yourself falling into the pregnant pause of the ninth emotion of shantam.
Peace,
Tranquility.
Having allowed the body and the being to experience all of the emotions,
The being automatically falls into the space that's pregnant with all emotions as if all the other emotions exist within,
About to be delivered.
And not yet so.
And this space of shantam holds all else within,
Is all else,
And always falls back to the space of shantam,
Tranquility and peace.
Allow yourself to seep in deep in this pregnant pause of shantam.
Allowing it to lay on your pelvic floor and deepen itself there along with the roots of your seat.
Becoming aware of your entire body and being.
Feeling into this stable,
Grounded peace.
As in when you feel ready for now,
Complete for now,
You can slowly open your eyes,
Carrying this peace with you in every square inch of this body.

An interesting array of emotions and reactions that left me feeling so very grateful to be here, alive, feeling and being. 🙏
