Welcome to this moving meditation.
We will be doing this from a supine position.
So grab a mat or be sure you're on a comfortable floor bringing any props,
Pillows,
Or blankets along with you.
Our theme is God will help you in difficult times.
God will help you in difficult times.
Notice how that statement makes you feel.
Bringing some gentle curiosity but not judgment to your practice.
Psalm 147 verse 3 says,
He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.
Who does God heal?
Who does He help?
Our Lord heals the broken-hearted.
He knows your wounds.
He offers healing balm.
Rest your body in a comfortable position.
A resting pose on your back.
If you have low back issues,
Bringing the feet to your mat wide.
Let your knees fall on to one another with ease.
Allow everything in the body to simply relax the muscles or ceasing any contraction.
You're just noticing the floor grounding you and holding your body as we pray.
Lord,
Thank you that you keep your promises and then in the midst of hard days and difficult seasons we can always turn to you.
Draw near to us now so we can feel your presence like a holy embrace.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen.
Inhale,
Exhale,
Doubt.
Inhale,
Confidence.
Exhale,
Pain.
Inhale,
Healing.
Exhale,
Anger.
Inhale,
Faith.
Hug your knees into your chest now,
Either with your hands positioned below the knees or behind your thighs.
And if it feels good for you,
Rock from side to side or find some motion here.
Invite all of your body to this rocking,
Allowing the head to move from side to side across the mat.
The back of your head supported by the mat.
It feels good and healing to feel the touch of your mat beneath your head.
Repeat after me in your mind's eye,
He is here,
He is near.
He is here,
He is near.
He is here,
He is near.
This time as I repeat that phrase,
Just allow yourself to meditate on it with that curious nature,
Allowing any thoughts or feelings to surface.
He is here,
He is near.
Psalm 145 verses 18 and 19 say,
The Lord is near to all who call on him,
To all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him.
He hears their cries.
Bringing your feet to your mat now,
So that the outer edges of your feet are parallel to one another.
Your toes are pointing away from the body,
Your knees are pointing upward.
Cross your right ankle just below your left knee in a supine pigeon posture,
Either pressing the right knee with your hand away from the body or alternately picking up your left leg and hugging that in towards your chest.
Feel free to find some stillness or movement.
Difficult seasons can feel hard to bear.
Life is not always easy,
But joy comes in the morning.
Good days outweigh the bad.
Circumstances shift like sand and they offer opportunities to stay firm in our faith,
Lifting our hearts to the Lord.
2nd Corinthians 4 verse 8 says,
We are hard pressed on every side,
Yet not crushed.
We are perplexed,
But not in despair.
If you've lifted your left leg,
Go ahead and let your left foot settle down to the mat.
We're just gonna twist with our right ankle over the left knee by dropping this position down to the left side.
You can support yourself with any pillows or blankets and perhaps your right arm comes out like a wing and you look over your right shoulder.
Lettie Cowman says this,
Every misfortune,
Every failure,
Every loss may be transformed.
God has the power to transform all misfortunes into God sends.
When you're ready,
Bring your body back to center.
Uncross your right ankle over the left and then cross your left ankle over or just below the right knee.
Finding a supine pigeon by either pressing the left knee away or hugging the right leg into your chest.
What if we viewed our hardships as opportunities?
Are you open for new growth?
Do you see him gently pruning you?
Could this be the process to grow stronger,
More beautiful?
James 1 verse 2 says,
God blesses those who patiently endure testing.
Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to all who love him.
Let your right foot lower to the mat if it isn't already and then we'll take a twist from here letting this arrangement of our legs fall down toward the right side.
Left arm can come out like a wing and if it feels comfortable for your neck gazing over your left shoulder.
Hannah Smith says this,
Often the trials we mourn are really gateways into the good things we long for.
Lifting your legs back up to center bringing your feet back to the position on the mat together about hip distance apart.
Elongate the neck with the arms alongside the body palms down gently lifting the hips into a bridge pose if you have a block or a pillow or blanket you can place that beneath the sacrum.
Know that you can lower out of bridge at any point that you desire.
Open your heart by bringing the back side of the shoulders together.
Did you know God longs to hear your voice?
He leaves the 99 to come after you.
You aren't forgotten.
He scans the horizon fully alert with all senses ready to hear to see to rescue you.
2nd Samuel 22 verse 7 says,
I called to the Lord in my distress.
I called to God from his temple he heard my voice.
Lower your spine back down to the mat one vertebrae at a time taking a quick hug with the knees into the chest if you'd like and then arranging your body back into a complete restful posture.
Inhale healing.
Exhale pain.
Inhale faith.
Exhale anger.
Inhale confidence.
Exhale doubt.
John 16 verse 33 says,
These things I have spoken to you that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.
And now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way.
May his peace be sufficient.
May his peace reconcile you.
May his peace be sovereign.
May his peace be certain.
May the Lord of peace be with you all.
Shalom.
