Living Our Values
Marlee invites you to reflect on your core values and what values you want to see expressed more in the world and then challenges you to start embodying those values and living those values here and now. We are each a part of creating our collective reality in every moment, so the question is: what do we want reality to look like?

Welcome to the Shifting with Marlee podcast.
I'm Marlee.
Thank you for joining me wherever you are.
All that I ask of you,
The listener,
Is to have an open mind and an open heart.
And in return,
I offer you myself.
Today I want to talk about living our values and the future we are building every moment of every day.
Back in episode 40,
The Game of Being Human,
And episode 41,
How to Play with Time,
We discovered that we are powerful creators of our reality.
So the question then is,
What do we want reality to look like?
And what do we want the future to look like?
What changes do we want to see manifest?
What values are important to us that we want to see expressed more in the world?
And let's get particular and specific about what changes we want to see and what values we wish to see expressed,
Because our creation powers lie in our focus,
Our attention,
And our intention.
So let's focus on what we want to see manifested in our own lives and in the world,
And then transform our inner and outer worlds to match.
We are each responsible for building our collective reality.
So let's choose to be responsible to each other and the better world we are creating.
Let's use our manifestation powers to build a better future for all.
How do we do this?
We begin by discerning what is important to you.
We begin by feeling into what values resonate with you.
This will be unique to you and your vantage point in your life circumstances and experiences and your soul's path.
So start by asking yourself,
What are my core values?
What do you want to see more of in your life and in the world?
Perhaps you'd like to see more truth and honesty.
So start by bringing more truth and honesty into your own life and your own relationships,
Even when it's hard.
Where can you be more honest with yourself?
Start there.
Perhaps you want to see more justice.
Start by feeling into what justice means to you.
Tap into the higher vibration of justice,
Which really is everyone treated fairly,
Always.
Where can you embody justice in your own life?
How can you support justice in your community?
Where can you speak up for those that don't have a voice?
Use your voice to advocate for justice.
Start there.
Maybe equality is important to you.
So where can you evaluate the hierarchy present in your own life,
In your own relationships,
And in your own judgments?
Bring in that awareness and start to embody more equality and act from that place that everyone is inherently equal and worthy.
Maybe non-judgment is one of your core values.
So start to bring awareness to your own subtle judgments of yourself and others.
Start to bring awareness to the judgments and projections placed upon you by others,
And start to detach from these judgments and projections.
Where can you shift into a place of acceptance of what is?
Start there.
Perhaps freedom is one of your core values.
So get curious about where you aren't yet fully free.
What areas of your life do you yearn for more freedom?
Internally,
Focus on getting free from the oppressive systems that keep you playing small,
That keep you in a box.
And externally,
Where can you support others in getting more free?
Start there.
Or maybe cooperation is important to you.
Maybe you feel strongly that working together cooperatively is important,
Is the solution even,
And that everyone deserves the support of others.
So embody that in your own life and in your community.
Ask for the support you need and give your support to others where you can.
Encourage teamwork.
Start there.
Maybe you feel called to focus on respect and bring more respect to your life and the world.
Maybe you feel strongly that every being is worthy of being treated with respect.
So where can you embody that more in your own life?
Can you walk the talk of respect by respecting others,
By treating others how you want to be treated?
Start there.
Or perhaps compassion and understanding are important to you.
Start with having compassion and grace for yourself.
Giving yourself that compassion and understanding you seek.
Then can you extend that compassion and empathy outwards to others,
To your friends and family and community,
And even beyond?
Can your compassion and empathy grow to include any living being,
Human or otherwise,
That may be suffering?
Can you see the humanity in others and recognize that their suffering is no different from your own?
Perhaps you want to see more balance and harmony in the world.
So what does balance and harmony mean to you?
Where can you prioritize more balance and harmony in your own life?
Where can you bring more balance and harmony into your internal world?
Can we also look to nature,
Which is the epitome of balance and harmony,
For ideas and inspiration?
Where can we support more balance and harmony in our systems,
In our day-to-day lives,
In our businesses,
In our families,
In our world?
Start there.
Or maybe you want to see more community in the world.
Maybe you're feeling like you need more community in your own life.
Start with your local community.
Create more intentional community with your neighbors,
The people you interact with regularly,
Places you visit regularly.
Enter your local farmer's market,
Perhaps join a CSA at a local farm,
Frequent local libraries,
Coordinate potlucks,
Share resources,
Talk to each other.
And of course,
In today's world,
We can also be a part of loving and intentional community online,
Which is also a beautiful thing.
The point is,
Create and participate in the loving and intentional community you want to see in the world.
Perhaps forgiveness is one of your core values.
Start with forgiveness for yourself.
Forgive your past selves.
Give yourself that grace.
Then bring awareness to where you may be holding onto anger or resentment or bitterness towards others or situations.
Start with the awareness of what you're holding onto.
As Ainsley McLeod says,
Forgiveness is a way to move yourself out of the past and into the present.
It releases the resentments that pile up over the years,
And it's never about condoning bad behavior or bypassing your own feelings.
Forgiveness is a practice you can cultivate,
And regularly practicing forgiveness helps to keep you in a compassionate place.
Energetically,
Forgiveness is a release and helps you clear out what no longer serves you and maintain a higher frequency and vibration.
Forgiveness can also bring a lot of clarity and peace.
A powerful forgiveness practice is the ancient Hawaiian forgiveness prayer,
Ha'apanopono.
This can be directed towards yourself,
A person,
A situation,
Anything that feels resonant.
The prayer is simply,
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
Thank you,
I love you.
Start there,
And as you embody more forgiveness,
It spreads outward.
Maybe harmlessness and nonviolence are important to you and you want to see more of that in the world.
Perhaps consider starting with your internal world and healing the harm and violence and anger and turmoil and aggression and war within yourself.
Can you extend this outward?
Where can you embody harmlessness and nonviolence in your own life and in your own actions and even in your communication and language?
Can you extend this outward even further and support causes or organizations that embody harmlessness and nonviolence?
Can you perhaps consider using your voice to speak up for harmlessness and nonviolence in the world?
Start there.
Along those same lines,
Perhaps peace is important to you and one of your core values.
Where can you create more internal peace for yourself?
Where can you create more peace in your environment and in your day-to-day life?
Can you cultivate more moments of peace for yourself and your family?
Consider using the power of your focus and intention to drop into meditation and visualize peace for the world.
Hold that vision and intention for humanity.
Can you hold onto hope and faith for a peaceful world for all?
Start there,
While creating and embodying the peace you want to see in the world.
Maybe you want to see more joy and play in the world.
So can you embody more joy and play in your own life?
Find ways to bring joy and play into everything you do,
And encourage others to do the same.
Spread that joy and play frequency through your own actions and vibration.
Start there.
Or maybe kindness is one of your core values and what you want to see more of.
So start by being kind to yourself.
Speak to yourself with loving kindness first.
Then can you spread that loving kindness in the world through your interactions and relationships and even to strangers on the street?
Embody that value that everyone is deserving of kindness.
And that means patience too,
Right?
End non-judgment.
And unconditional kindness,
Meaning being kind without expectations.
It's all connected.
Be the kindness you want to see in the world.
Start there.
Maybe oneness and unity are important to you and what you want to see more of.
Start with healing the separation within yourself.
Bring awareness to any othering you may be doing in your own life.
In what areas of your life do you feel separate?
Do you feel separate from the earth?
Do you feel separate from other people?
Do you feel separate from your family?
And where might you be feeling alone?
These are all areas to get curious and explore and begin to heal your relationship with separation.
Also notice all the ways society supports and perpetuates separation and otherness.
Can you begin to move past this separation and see the vast interconnectedness of all things?
Can you see humanity as your kin?
Can you find the union of the divine masculine and divine feminine within yourself?
Can you come into the knowing that all human beings,
All souls,
Including you,
Are divine and worthy and connected?
Perhaps begin by connecting with unity consciousness and meditation in small doses.
See how it feels.
Witness what moves through you.
Start there.
And finally,
Perhaps love is one of your core values.
So begin by bringing more love to yourself.
Begin by bringing awareness to where love is lacking in your life,
Or in your actions,
Or in yourself.
Where you feel love is lacking in society,
In the world even.
Where or what or who could use a little extra dose of love?
Then can you connect in with your heart and set the intention to send some love to where you feel called to send it to,
And know and trust that's making a difference?
Can you come back to the remembrance that you are love,
And can you shed all the barriers and blocks and limiting beliefs keeping you from that knowing?
Can you embody more unconditional love,
Which is love for the sake of love without any conditions or expecting anything in return?
Where in your life and in your actions can you be more loving?
Can you come back to the simple truth that everyone and everything is deserving and worthy of love and compassion?
And that includes you.
That includes the earth.
That includes animals.
That includes every single human being.
You may try repeating to yourself,
I am love.
I am loving.
I am loved.
Notice how that feels in your body.
Notice if any resistance comes up.
Spread love,
Be love,
Embody love.
Right there.
We build the new earth through our actions,
Through our intentions,
Through our focus,
Through our embodiment,
Through our frequency and vibration.
It's time to walk the talk.
It's time to embody our values.
It's time to live our values.
Whether that's truth,
Honesty,
Justice,
Equality,
Non-judgment,
Freedom,
Cooperation,
Respect,
Compassion,
Understanding,
Balance,
Harmony,
Community,
Forgiveness,
Harmlessness,
Nonviolence,
Peace,
Joy,
Play,
Kindness,
Oneness,
Unity,
Or love.
Feel into what's yours to focus on.
Feel into what resonates with you and your soul.
Feel into where your work lies.
What we focus on,
We create.
What we focus on gets reinforced.
So which values speak to your soul?
That is your path.
And if you fall off and stray away from one of your values for a moment,
That's okay.
This is not about perfectionism or shame or guilt at all.
Simply acknowledge it.
Give yourself some grace and compassion.
Forgive yourself if you feel you need to,
Then recenter and come back to it.
This is all a continual practice and learning.
And let's hold each other in this and support each other and also keep each other lovingly accountable.
For me,
I'll share my priorities,
My core values,
What I'll be focusing on at this point in my life are love first and foremost,
Peace,
Harmlessness,
Justice,
Freedom,
And unity and oneness.
That's where my work lies.
That's what resonates with me.
And feel free to hold me accountable to these.
Now,
Take a deep breath and take a moment to imagine a world that embodies these values.
Feel it as if it's here now.
We manifest that world through our own lives and our actions.
We manifest that outer world through our inner world.
We lead the way.
We go first.
It's our responsibility.
Remember,
As within,
So without.
As above,
So below.
As the universe,
So the soul.
Similarly,
It was Mahatma Gandhi that said,
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
But he also said,
We would mirror the world.
All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body.
If we could change ourselves,
The tendencies in the world would also change.
As a man changes his own nature,
So does the attitude of the world change towards him.
This is the divine mystery supreme,
A wonderful thing it is,
And the source of our happiness.
We need not wait to see what others do.
