I felt called to start sharing my own experience,

My own reflections upon the yoga sutras from a place of imperfection and maybe noises you might hear in the background,

But just starting with the readiness and the commitment that ATHA stands for.

So those who give their time to a task repeatedly and consistently,

They unlock new levels of being.

But first,

One must choose this path,

Choose it wisely.

That's what I've done here.

And there comes this moment we all must make in life when an idea arises or an opportunity comes and it either grows or falls away.

It's almost like this fork in the road of our life.

One direction is one decision and the second direction is a completely different decision.

And until you make that commitment to one path,

There can be hesitancy,

That chance to step back for a moment.

But the moment you say yes to one path,

Oh my God,

So many things begin to unfold in your life according to divine timing.

And I want to share a quote by Johan,

Johan,

I'm not sure how you say this person's name,

But the quote's amazing.

Johan Wolfgang von Goeth once said,

Whatever you can do or dream you can,

Begin it.

Boldness has genius,

Power and magic in it.

I love this quote so much.

Whatever you can do or dream you can,

Begin it.

Boldness has genius,

Power and magic in it.

And so it's with great honor that I begin this new journey,

This new chapter of my life called creation.

Unapologetically being me,

Expressing me as the way that I desire to express myself through poems,

Through songs,

Through contemplation of what these concepts of the yoga sutras mean to me.

And for those of you who are listening,

It may be something entirely else for your life.

Maybe you're bringing in a new chapter with a new job,

A new partner,

A breakup,

Moving to a new location,

You know,

Beginning a healing journey or even saying goodbye to a friend or family member.

It's this new path that we're always beginning.

Life always has these new beginnings.

Each moment is a new beginning.

There's always something coming into our life to teach us something.

And all we have to do is take one step at a time,

One breath at a time.

And as soon as you take that step,

As soon as you do,

The universe begins to energetically support you and give you love as you begin this new path.

And we always begin it with this excitement in us of what lies ahead.

And we begin with atha,

Right?

This auspicious way to begin.

And atha actually means studying more deeply who we are,

Where we are,

And how we can shift our inner and outer worlds.

We look ahead at our path at the beginning and we see this giant mountain,

But we're excited about it and whatever it is that we're beginning.

But that doesn't stop us from starting or continuing on.

And each day we have to take one step after another step after another step,

Knowing that we just have to keep learning and practicing and integrating to our highest expression.

And each day we find ourselves a little bit closer to the top of that mountain.

And some days we may want to quit and run back down.

Some days we just want to rest.

But this path,

This path of life that we're all on,

It just requires perseverance and patience and trusting our process and understanding that.

And in life there is suffering and those moments are not there to hurt us.

They're there to help us.

They're there to make us grow stronger and learn lessons.

And so some days,

Those days where we feel like quitting and going back down that mountain,

We're trying to scale,

Whether it's getting towards a goal or a feeling or something we want to manifest.

It requires perseverance and patience and the more eager we are,

The more urgency we move with or the more frequency we speak certain words to ourselves,

The faster the speed of which we can achieve and manifest.

But it requires discipline and intentional focus and the repetitive step by step by step motion and positive thinking to eventually reach the top of that mountain.

And you know what's crazy?

Once we get there and we realize,

Holy crap,

I'm here,

I made it,

I did it.

I felt like quitting,

But I kept going and look at what I've achieved.

There are a thousand more mountains to climb when you get to the top,

You realize you're just at the beginning.

There's another level to this.

And in that moment,

You understand that the journey is the reward.

The growth you make along the way is the reward.

The repetitive nature of daily action and showing up and doing the inner work is what the reward is,

Not viewing the top of the mountain,

Not the goal achieved,

Not that thing manifested.

That's the cherry on top.

So you have to fall in love with the process,

The process that always starts with being ready and being committed and understanding that you have to unlearn a lot of what you've known so that you can become a new version of you.

And so we must rid ourselves of all physical and mental limitations that have caused us strife in life to feel stuck.

And we have to go back to that beginning energy when we start a path,

That readiness we have,

That commitment,

That excitement.

And we have to come back to that every day over and over and over and over again,

Even on days when we don't feel like it.

Because the soul that shows up consistently over a period of time and practices and fails and keeps going and practices and fails and keeps going and learns and gets better and makes progress and keeps going,

Even on days when they don't feel like it,

They achieve something most people never achieve in their whole life.

They achieve mastery.

Mastery.

Not just of a skill or a goal or something that they are desiring to achieve but of themselves,

Of their own minds.

And I want to end this with a story of my own life and where Atha has showed up in my own life.

When I was younger,

About the age of 8 or 9,

I began playing the sport of lacrosse and I really sucked at first.

I was not the best at lacrosse but I kept showing up and I kept practicing.

I went to camps and I went and did extra practices and I kept learning and I was getting a little better.

I did wall ball and I went out on the field and played with my friends and I started doing travel sports and I started getting better.

On weekends I would wake up and go to the fields and have that time to myself to practice.

And it wasn't even about the end goal of achieving anything,

It was about the enjoyment of being out there,

Being in that state of flow and seeing myself and feeling myself get better at something.

And showing up even when I didn't want to and watching that progression of my skill.

Watching the progression of my body and how my body was developing.

And all those years of practice led me to a place that allowed me to play at a higher level and play with others who had also achieved that higher level and to be around their thought process to understand how they show up,

To see the work ethic they have,

To see how we all held each other accountable to be committed to this craft and this skill got me to an even higher level.

And so the reason I share this is because when you start it's exciting to think of what you can become on any journey.

You're ready to start but that commitment must be there from the beginning in whatever it is that you're doing.

I knew from a young age I wanted to commit to learning that skill set because it was fun for me.

And that's the thing,

You have to find something that you're ready to commit to that feels like ease,

That feels like flow when you show up and do it.

Then and only then is when you shall begin.
