Hello,

Welcome to this meditation,

Taking a moment right now to honor your courage and express gratitude towards yourself for showing up today,

For having the self-connection to pay attention to what is happening in your inner world and finding the strength to take a deeper look.

Before we begin,

I want to remind you that this practice is yours and you are in control of your experience.

Acknowledge any discomfort or pain you may be feeling,

Whether it's physical,

Emotional,

Or spiritual.

Allow yourself to sit with it without judgment or resistance.

Start to settle into your body and we can begin to welcome in the thought of being comfortable with the uncomfortable.

Breathe,

Rest your eyelids,

Open your heart,

Allow yourself to get heavy and sink into the deep waters within that you have spent so much time trying to avoid.

Let yourself be fully immersed in whatever seems to be troubling you right now.

Let's slowly explore what's beneath the surface.

Step by step,

Breath by breath,

I am here with you.

A lot of the time we try to run from our pain as if it's a predator we have to get away from,

Like it's an evil force trying to harm us.

What we don't realize is all this energy we spend trying to avoid it can cause more suffering rather than looking at it straight in the eye.

So together,

Let's make eye contact with our hurt inside.

Let's gently give it a greeting to come out of hiding.

Allow it to gently approach you,

Absorb the feeling bit by bit.

I know you may want to turn away,

But stay with the fear if you can.

We can take it by the hand and have it be our companion rather than a pest we must get rid of.

Have it be our partner we spend time with rather than neglect.

We can turn towards the direction of curiosity and exploration.

We can take a peek inside the dark cave we have been conditioned to steer clear of.

The cave that has made us believe the unknown is scary and that discomfort should be avoided.

What is actually inside of here?

What is in this space that can help us learn more about ourselves?

What happens if we go inside with an open mind and an open heart?

We can leave all judgment outside,

There is no room for it in here.

So let me ask you sweet human,

What is inside your deep dark cave?

What have you been burying?

Let some light in,

Allow yourself to observe what is coming to the surface.

You don't have to mistake your shadows anymore.

Take a gentle look to see exactly what they are.

Pain needs to be seen and acknowledged in order to be healed.

Allow this sighting to bring with it any physical sensations.

Your breath here is your safety line.

Remain anchored in your being.

Feel your conscious presence through this experience.

Coming to your breath now.

Breathing in,

I allow my pain to be seen.

Breathing out,

I am safe and grounded.

Breathing in,

I allow my fear to be felt.

Breathing out,

I am divinely protected.

As you continue to breathe,

Imagine yourself surrounded by a warm,

Comforting light.

This light represents compassion and understanding,

Both for yourself and for others who may be experiencing pain.

Let it envelop you,

Wrapping you in its gentle embrace.

Discomfort is inevitable in life,

No matter how big or small.

It is in these moments where we can use our discomfort as an opportunity to see where we can open up bigger and surrender.

Discomfort is often the first telltale of resistance.

A part of ourselves is startled and holding back because we are entering into unknown territory,

Or perhaps we are entering familiar land where we didn't have the best experience in our past so our body is alarming us.

If we turn towards curiosity and exploration here,

We can remind ourselves that each new moment is born again.

Everything is,

In fact,

New to us.

Every moment of every day,

We have not seen before and we are covering new ground.

You are mastering the unknown daily without even realizing it.

There is so much resilience in you,

Sweet human.

It is embedded in your pain,

Like gold waiting to be found as you sift through the sand.

Let's sift through it now.

Let's feel the soft sand in our hands and admire the grains that make us know what it's like to have grit in our souls and a desire to keep on living.

Our troubles can come and go like the waves of the ocean.

Knowing that,

When it feels like the choppy waters are too intense,

We can always find our way back to the shore.

When a storm comes to our beaches,

We can take the wet sand and build sandcastles with it,

Admiring our strength,

Our creativity,

And our resilience.

Our deep dark caves are big bright light.

Our storms and our sandcastles are all sacred parts of us.

The skills we've learned through the process have made us more equipped for life's future battles.

We made our own tools we didn't even know we could make.

Our learning is endless and our wisdom runs deep.

Remind yourself that your pain does not define you.

You are not your pain.

You are so much more.

You are a resilient and courageous being,

Capable of healing and growth.

With each breath,

Soften the edges of your discomfort.

Allow it to expand and unfold like a flower opening to the sun.

Embrace the fullness of your experience,

Knowing that discomfort is simply a passing cloud in the sky of your awareness,

And you are the mountain,

A soft breeze clearing the path,

Allowing room for that big bright light of yours to continue to shine through.

Take a few more gentle deep breaths now,

Allowing the energy of acceptance and compassion to flow through you.

Feel it permeate every cell of your being,

Soothing your pain and bringing a sense of peace and wholeness.

Now visualize extending this compassion beyond yourself to all beings who are experiencing pain and suffering.

Send out thoughts of love and healing to them,

Knowing that we are all interconnected in our shared humanity.

Gently shifting your attention to your heart now,

Noticing how your breath comes through the chest and down through the body,

And holding yourself in love here,

Thanking your past for making you who you are today.

Taking a deep breath to settle into yourself and arrive at this brand new day.

Gently beginning to bring some awareness into the space around you,

Arriving back in your body.

Thank you for being here.

The light in me honors the light in you.

The world is so lucky to have you.

Keep shining,

My friend.

Namaste.
