Bhuta Shuddhi means purification of the elements,

And in this practice,

We'll create a space and container to deepen our relationship with the five basic elements,

Or bhutas that reside within us.

These five elements are earth,

Water,

Fire,

Air,

And space.

By working with these elements,

We can bring ourselves back into a state of natural balance and equanimity.

Take a moment to find the best shape to support you in today's practice.

Now just know that you have the option to experience this in a traditional meditative posture,

Seated upright,

Or a more restorative shape,

Resting on your back.

But as we enter the practice,

Just take a moment and listen to what you need in this moment.

And from here,

Just start to notice the space in which you're inhabiting for the practice.

Maybe become aware of the sounds in the environment,

Or the temperature of the space,

But allow the awareness of the external space to ground you in this moment.

And we'll begin to turn that awareness inward,

Using the breath as a bridge to connect us to our own inner awareness.

So just notice the sensation,

The flow,

The natural rhythm of the breath.

You may notice the sound,

Or feel the sensation of the inhale and the exhale,

But as you deepen your connection to the breath,

Just allow yourself to venture inward,

Your awareness settling into the space inside your body.

And then allow your awareness to move or connect to the location of the Muladhara Chakra,

Awareness resting right at the space between the anus and the genitals.

The Muladhara Chakra is the home of the earth element.

And here,

Just allow the mantra,

The bija mantra,

LAM,

To just gently arise.

LAM,

LAM,

LAM,

LAM,

LAM,

LAM,

LAM,

LAM,

Allowing the bija mantra for the earth element to just repeat on its own.

Knowing that the bija mantras themselves are a vibration,

And we can just notice its presence in our practice,

LAM,

LAM,

LAM,

LAM,

LAM,

LAM,

Gently repeating silently.

And as the bija mantra reverberates in your inner awareness,

Just allow yourself to connect to the earth element.

You may deepen your awareness through the connection of the body as it connects to the surface or the props that are holding you,

And through that connection,

Meeting the earth.

And you may notice the qualities of the earth become present within you.

That stability,

That groundedness,

A sense of abundance.

The awareness begins to transition between chakras,

Moving from the Muladhara Chakra to the Swadhisthana Chakra,

The second chakra.

Awareness moving to the space located just above the sacrum.

Just noticing the bija mantra of the water element,

VAM,

Begin to arise and repeat itself in your own inner experience.

VAM,

VAM,

VAM,

VAM,

VAM,

VAM,

VAM,

Continuing to resonate internally.

Resting in the vibration of the bija mantra.

Noticing the connection to water become clear and clear.

The qualities of this element becoming present in your practice,

Noticing the sensation of flowing,

Nurturing,

And balancing energy.

Awareness begins to transition slowly and gently from the second chakra to the third,

The Manipura Chakra.

Awareness moving to the space around the navel.

Noticing the bija mantra of the fire element,

RAM,

Begin to arise and repeat itself in your inner experience.

RAM,

RAM,

RAM,

RAM,

RAM,

RAM,

RAM,

RAM,

RAM.

Noticing the element of fire arise within you,

Within the vibration of the bija mantra.

Connecting to the qualities of fire,

Strength,

Protection,

Radiance,

And transformation.

That awareness transitions,

Moving from the third chakra to the fourth,

The Anahata Chakra.

Awareness resting right at the center of the heart space.

The vibration of the bija mantra,

YAM,

Representing the air element,

Gently arises in the practice.

Awareness moving to the fifth chakra,

The Vishuddha chakra.

Slowly moving and resting that awareness at the throat center.

The Bija mantra for the space element,

HUM,

Begins to arise in our practice.

HUM,

HUM,

HUM,

HUM,

HUM,

HUM,

HUM.

Just resonating internally.

Sensing or feeling the vibration of that mantra.

Observing the spaciousness in the throat center.

Noticing the element of space as a quality of not only potential,

But of mystery and the ability to see the divine,

To connect to the divine.

Awareness moves to the sixth chakra,

The Ajna chakra.

Awareness resting at the space between the brow.

Noticing the rise of the mantra OM in our inner experience.

Just observing the vibration in this space that represents a connection beyond the elements.

And awareness moves to the space at the crown of the head,

The seventh chakra,

Sahasrara.

And just notice at the end of a deep and powerful OM,

The silence that's available.

Silence representing a space for integration.

And we'll begin to move our awareness back down.

Just resting your awareness at the Ajna chakra,

Hearing OM,

The vibration,

Noticing it.

Moving that awareness to the Vishuddha chakra,

Noticing the vibration of HUM.

Remembering the quality of space.

And then moving gently,

That awareness shifting to the Anahata chakra.

Noticing the vibration of YUM.

Observing the quality of air.

Then to the Manipura chakra.

Noticing the vibration of the mantra RAM.

And the quality of fire.

Then to the Svadhisthana chakra.

The vibration of VAM.

And the quality of water.

And then awareness at the Muladhara chakra.

The vibration of LUM and the quality of earth.

Take a few deep,

Spacious breaths.

Before we close out the practice.

And if you're resting in a more restorative shape,

Just allow yourself to gently and slowly press up to a nice comfortable seat.

We'll gently bring our hands together right at heart center,

Pressing the palms together gently.

Allowing the chest to rise to meet the back of the thumbs.

And just notice the sense of balance.

Sense of inner alignment,

Inner clarity.

And as we close out this practice,

Just know that this is available to you in your practice.

And for you to carry out as you move and navigate into the world.

May you move into the rest of the day with a greater sense of peace,

Clarity and freedom.
