Hi!

Welcome to this creative meditation.

Shannon Shine here,

Your friendly art therapy practitioner.

I'm excited to guide you through a creative process today where you can use art as part of your healing practice.

In this space I invite you to get all of your creative materials out,

Whatever you feel most drawn to at this moment.

If you don't have any materials,

A simple pen and paper may help.

You can also just visualize using your mind.

However,

Using the materials that you have at hand can offer a therapeutic activity.

So if you need to,

Go ahead and pause this for a moment,

Gather your supplies,

And get comfortable.

Beautiful!

Let's begin.

Go ahead and close your eyes,

Take a nice deep breath.

As you continue to take some nice deep breaths,

I invite you to think of an emotion,

Something maybe you're working through or something you would like more of.

Some examples may be joy,

Grief,

Pain,

Happiness,

Love,

Gratitude,

Or whatever emotion may be coming up for you.

Take another deep breath and settle in to whatever your word of emotion is for this practice.

Now begin exploring this feeling of emotion.

Use your imagination and what colors come up for you when you think of this emotion.

There may be objects of color related.

Your mind may wander and bring you to a certain color that resonates for you.

Maybe it's a few colors,

A color palette.

Really breathe in and allow those colors to swirl around you.

As you continue to breathe,

Begin imagining any symbols or imagery connected to this emotion for you.

Maybe it's a certain style of line or a repetition or a texture.

Go ahead and ask your intuition,

Is there anything else coming up for you related to this emotion?

What does it look like in your subconscious mind?

Take a few more moments and nice deep breaths here.

Inhale through the nose,

Exhale through the mouth.

Taking the information in,

Beginning to come more present in your body again.

And when you're ready,

You can open your eyes and join us back here in your creative space.

If you want or feel called,

You can write your emotion on your piece of paper or your sketchbook or canvas,

Whatever you're using.

Look at the supplies you have at hand,

Even if it's just pen and paper,

And find a way to express anything that came up for you with that emotion.

If you have colored materials,

Maybe you wish to color,

Maybe filling the whole background first and then drawing your signs and symbols.

If you're working with a lighter emotion or something you're trying to draw to you,

Visualize yourself attracting more of this into your energy field.

More love,

More gratitude,

More joy.

Maybe recreating a texture.

There is no pressure here.

Allow your mind to really feel into that emotion.

If you're working with a heavier emotion,

Try visualizing the tension or pressure or feelings of negativity connected to release through the creation process.

Try to continue practicing your breathing,

Staying calm,

Work through this emotion.

Give yourself between 10 and 20 minutes to really focus on this creative process.

Allow yourself to explore,

Try out different materials you may have available,

And if you just have a pen and paper or a pencil,

Maybe consider writing the things you saw.

If you don't have the colors or the other materials to express what came up for you,

Find a way to work through your emotions creatively.

Go ahead and listen to this music while you fall into your creative process.

All right,

We're going to come back to our meditative state for a moment,

Finish up any bits of your creative process,

Or pause this if you need to,

But when you are ready,

Take a look at your piece of artwork.

What came up for you?

How do these colors or lines or symbols make you feel now as you reflect?

Allow yourself to review this process,

Maybe consider journaling,

And repeat this process as needed.

Thank you for joining me in this creative meditation.

Enjoy the rest of your day.
