Hello Jim and thank you for tuning in to this guided meditation for connecting with the energy of obsidian.
This meditation is part of the Crystal Club series on my Insight Timer channel.
Each week I go live to talk about a certain crystal or stone and how you can best connect with their properties and following the live I upload a meditation to help you continue your practice with that stone.
Today we're going to connect with the energy of obsidian.
In the mineral kingdom obsidian is known as the reflector.
It is a stone that invites us to look upon ourselves with a lens of honesty and see the parts of ourselves that we may have a difficult time honoring as valuable.
Even the dark parts of ourself are valuable and it is important to remember that light cannot exist without darkness.
There is a duality,
A balance,
And a dance between these two concepts.
I think so many people fear shadow work but the reality is that shadow work is an important part of coming into the wholeness of the self.
So I invite you now to get comfortable wherever you are whether that's seated or lying down and before you get too comfortable if you have a piece of obsidian you can bring into practice with you today I invite you to grab that now.
Starting to pay attention to your breath,
Taking a deep inhalation for the nose and allowing the exhale to be longer than your inhale.
Inviting you now to sit with the idea of your shadow self.
Shadows can only be cast when the Sun is shining on our face.
Those shadows fall behind us.
Shadows are cast from our relationship to the light.
So what parts of yourself do you need to grab a hold of and bring into the lightness?
The invitation is to try to think of the pieces of yourself that you have a hard time admitting exist.
Maybe these are seeds of judgment that you might sow upon others.
Maybe it's the way you connect to the energy of abundance.
Maybe it's a scarcity mindset.
Maybe it's speaking harsh words upon yourself.
Whatever that energy looks like in your shadow.
So imagine yourself grabbing hold of it now and giving it a hug.
As you pull that shadow into you whisper,
I have you.
You're safe.
Imagine yourself letting go of that shadow and grabbing its hand and choosing to honor it as a piece of you not as something that you need to get rid of but as something that exists in the duality of your lightness and darkness.
Inviting you now to connect with a different shadow energy.
Something called a light shadow.
This is a piece of ourself that is intrinsically good but may have been shunned when we were a child or at some other time in our life.
This can look like maybe wanting to sing but being told that your voice wasn't good enough or being a sensitive being and being told that you're too sensitive.
So just connecting to that energy of your light shadow now.
Something within you that you might have suppressed but you'd like to reconnect to.
Imagining yourself kneeling down and looking at that shadow because it's probably a smaller shadow,
An inner child shadow,
And letting that shadow know that you see it and you honor it and you would love for whatever it is to come back into the lightness with you.
Inviting you to just take a few moments here to sit with the energies we've called in today.
Don't rush to get up.
If you have any emotions that you feel like you need to release,
Allow yourself the space and permission to do that.
Maybe if you've had anything come up for you writing it down so that you don't forget what energies you connected with today and how you'd like to proceed forward with them.
Giving yourself a big energetic hug and a sense of pride for the way that you chose to show up here today.
To sit with the energy of obsidian and its ability to help us ground into the hard work,
The shadow work,
The reflections of the self.
Taking a silent whisper,
I love you and I'm rooting for you.
