Welcome home.
We're gonna take a trip together.
Where I go might not be where you go.
But we're gonna go there together.
Wherever we go.
So first off I want to invite you to find a place less comfortable.
Go in your room.
Close your door.
Plant your feet firmly on the ground.
Something that has intention.
Something that feels good.
You can feel the foundation of the earth beneath you.
Your posture.
The posture you take here is a posture for yourself.
So try to sit as if you walked into this room.
How would you greet yourself?
With a casual glance.
If you were your lover.
And you walked into the room.
Would you smile?
Would you offer yourself a nod?
Would you sit up straight?
Look at yourself in the eyes.
This is a posture for you.
For you to present yourself.
And in this time my invitation is for you to present your best self.
I like to sit up straight.
Intentional.
And prepared.
For whatever my love needs.
Hello.
And once you find that posture.
I want you to find your breath.
Breathe in.
And breathe out.
Just like you have.
Already.
There's no need to do anything special.
Except to feel how good it feels.
To breathe.
Let's just play with our breath.
You might even breathe out.
Allow breath.
Just notice the quality of your breath.
Are you breathing easy?
Or is it hard for you to breathe?
Do you have long breaths?
Or do you have short breaths?
You see what happens is,
Sometimes our bodies can get ahead of us.
The nervous system moves faster than the feeling of pain.
Which means you can react to an attack before you even feel it.
In fact,
You can react to an attack before you even know what the attack was.
We have a magnificent,
Beautiful,
Working nervous system.
Placed there by God to keep us safe.
Our tension.
It's powerful.
And right now,
Let's just put our attention on our breath.
Because even when our bodies begin to get ahead of our reality.
Our breath is like a yoke to bring them back together again.
It's not the act of breathing because you breathe all the time.
It's the act of giving your breath the attention.
You see,
We usually give our attention to our emails.
We usually give our attention to our social medias,
Our jobs.
The little fires that we become so good at putting out.
And yet,
There can be fires in our life.
And we have no idea how to handle them,
How to meet them.
And it's not that breathing helps you to understand anything more.
Except that breathing helps you to see what things really are.
Before you react.
Before you decide to jump.
Before you breathe.
You connect with what your spirit sees.
Reality.
You're safe.
Breathing,
It makes you feel relaxed and calm out of fight or flight.
Eostasis And as you breathe,
We find our body begins to relax,
Our shoulders begin to fall,
Our jaw begins to unclench,
Our hands begin to open.
In this posture firmly rooted on the earth,
We are reminded that we are a part of this earth.
That we are a part of this ecosystem of life and biology and this rock hurling itself to the universe.
At the speed of thousands of miles per hour surrounding the sun,
We are not separate from this phenomenon,
But we are a part of it.
We have no need to react,
We can respond because we are safe.
And as this relaxation travels through your body,
See if you can feel it at your center.
Now there are many centers in your body,
But right now let's just practice the center behind your navel,
Just below your navel.
It takes a lot to release your belly and allow the breath to make the belly rise and the breath to make the belly fall.
Let's just breathe there for a moment,
Maybe even put your hands there so you can feel the belly rising and you are here.
And if it feels good to be here,
Offer yourself a smile.
We're always looking for the keys to happiness.
What will make me happy?
What is the way to happiness?
But happiness is the way.
The key to finding your smile is to smile.
There are reasons to smile all around us.
If only we were able to take the time to see us.
And at this center,
Just behind your navel,
Just below your navel,
I want you to find a picture that feels like home.
It could be a flower,
A lake that you used to play in,
Maybe a fence that you used to go into to do something you loved.
It could be a house.
Just visualize it there at that center point.
Now this is the gift of this meditation is because this image that you see,
Your body doesn't know that you're not there.
Your body believes you are right there again in this safe place.
And just being there is enough to wake you up to what's real.
The things that are happening here right now with this body,
This place where you're sitting,
Standing,
Walking,
Whatever you're doing,
It's right here.
This is real.
And right here you're saying I like to picture my grandmother's favorite flower.
And as I breathe in the flower opens up and as I breathe out,
The flower opens up even more.
Maybe even give this center a name,
A name that reminds you of home.
You're safe here.
Just keep it right here.
And this picture of centers.
If you feel like singing to it,
Sing to it.
Just as long as it feels good and you're right here,
You are nowhere but here.
Keep it right here.
God is right here.
Your joy is right here.
Happiness is right here.
Peace is right here.
For me the power of this practice is just the permission to be here.
With myself,
For myself.
How often do we get to be with ourselves for ourselves,
For nothing else?
To exercise this muscle of peace and patience and awareness.
And as you sit here,
Thoughts will arise,
Feelings will emerge,
And that's okay.
You don't have to tell them to go away,
You don't have to disinvite them,
They are welcome here.
We can look at them,
Name them,
And observe what they're doing in our bodies.
Hello.
Hello anxiety.
Hello mister,
I'm worried about my email.
Hello miss,
I'm concerned about how I'm going to pay the rent.
Hello miss,
I have meetings later that I need to attend to.
Hi.
You gonna be good for a minute.
You'll be alright.
Because when I spend time with myself,
I am aware that I am safe.
And so those emails,
Those meetings,
All the other things that I have in my life that I gotta do.
I can approach them differently with a sense of sovereignty.
And so where I may have sent a quick,
Ruthless email,
Before I might just send a more peaceful one.
Because as I have compassion on myself,
I have the ability to have more compassion on others.
And as I offer myself kindness,
I have the ability to offer others kindness as well.
Just stay right there.
Just 2 Committee We've been here for a while and our time is almost done.
These moments have been so special.
This time with me,
Your time with you.
If you close your eyes,
Open them back up again.
Slowly,
Slowly.
You've been here the whole time.
You may be thinking,
Oh I left this place.
You didn't go anywhere.
You've been right here.
You've been here for a long time.
When you get into your emails,
When you start getting concerned with what's happening on your social media page,
The P&Ls of your company,
That's when you leave this place.
But when things are getting hard and you're looking for your source of joy,
Of peace,
Of God,
You'll come back here to whatever you saw at your center.
You're going to come right back here.
And remember that you're safe,
You're okay.
Thank you for your practice.
Thank you for offering yourself time.
Because when you offer yourself time,
You offer the world time.
We are all connected that way.
Let's close this practice with a gesture that makes us feel holy,
That makes this moment feel holy.
That could be whatever you want,
But I like to put my hands at my heart,
A symbol that reminds me that we're all connected.
A symbol that reminds me that gratitude is beautiful.
And as an artist,
I love to bring beauty into the world.
And I invite you to bring this beauty as well.
This gesture says,
Namaste,
I see God in you.
Not only you,
The people listening,
But the trees that listen.
That the bacteria in your body listens to.
That the frequencies that you radiate are responding to.
Namaste,
I see the divinity of all the universe in you.
And I thank you for your practice.
Come back,
Come back to this space.
Thank you for practicing today.
Namaste.
