I wrote a moment to breathe calmly to help a relative who had just suffered a heart attack. But, soon I realised that it was a nice way to take a breather throughout the day when I was myself feeling stressed. So I hope that it gives you a nice way to escape for a few minutes too.

Hello and welcome.

I invite you today to hold this space with me,

To be present in this beautiful moment.

Take a deep breath in and exhale with a sigh.

Nothing will fall apart around you whilst you are holding this space for yourself.

You need to take this space for you,

Take this moment for you.

Take these precious few minutes to breathe,

Letting air flow into your lungs,

Sending oxygen to your body,

Allowing calm to flow to you,

Through you and around you.

Close your eyes if you wish or set them in a soft gaze,

Whichever is more comfortable and preferable for you.

Slowly scan down your body.

I want you to just relax any areas that feel tense or tight,

Starting with your head,

Neck,

Shoulders,

Paying particular attention to your neck and shoulders as we hold a lot of tension here.

Down your arms,

Across your chest and back,

Relaxing the tummy into the hips,

Down your legs to the tips of your toes.

This is time that you are allowing yourself,

Time that for a few minutes in your day are all for you and you alone.

You are allowed this time to be calm.

You are allowed this time to be present.

You are allowed this time for your body and mind.

When we think of calm,

We think of pastel shaded colours or gentle walks in nature and the playing of soft,

Calming music.

It is important that we are gentle with ourselves and others.

It is important that we are calm with ourselves and others,

Allowing ourselves to just be in this moment,

To let the past day or week,

Month or year to settle and still,

Allowing our minds calm time to process anything that needs process.

If we do not allow ourselves calm processing time,

Then we cannot hope to live in a calmer space as we continue forward on our journey.

This is likely to impact us on a daily basis and impact decisions we make and relationships we have with ourself and with others.

I invite you to take another mindful breath in,

Releasing it slowly to the count of five,

Four,

Three,

Two,

One.

Comparing with each mindful breath we take,

We are breathing in calm.

Our breath is calm.

Our breath invokes calm.

Letting calm fill us up and process everything around us.

It is in these calming mindful breaths that we find ourselves again.

The things in our day that promotes stress or anxieties do not exist when we are breathing in calming energy.

Those things are on the outside of the calm bubble that you are creating for yourself every time you take a breath.

Allowing this calming breath to cleanse you of those impurities that make you feel less than you are.

Allow those calming pastel shades to surround you as you breathe and as you continue on your journey today.

Let them envelop you whenever you take a mindful calm breath.

Thank you for being in this moment with me and thank you for holding this space for yourself.
