Hello my friends and welcome to this 13th day of meditation for Lent.
Today,
We will be meditating on letting go.
To begin,
I invite you to close your eyes if it is safe and helpful to do so.
Notice how your mind naturally gets quieter with the simple act of closing your eyes and allow your body to relax and your spirit to be still.
Be still.
And if your mind wanders,
Just gently drift back to the present and be without judgment.
Simply be and embrace a spirit of peace and loving-kindness.
Now,
Let's observe a spirit of letting go.
A spirit of letting go.
Let go of whatever you feel the voice of God prompting you to let go of.
Let's just create some space for listening.
In Luke chapter 8,
Yeshua tells a parable about some seeds and where they land when scattered.
Notice that when a seed lands in a particular area,
Whether the seed thrives or not has more to do with the soil or lack thereof it lands in than the seed itself.
When a plant doesn't grow,
We don't blame the plant,
Do we?
We look at the soil.
Is it getting enough nutrients?
Sun?
Water?
Are there weeds choking it out?
In much the same way,
When we are not thriving,
It is often because there are things in our lives preventing us from thriving.
Or there's not enough nutrients in our soil.
Whatever it is that is preventing us from thriving,
These are things we can let go of.
So let's create some space to simply let go.
If the imagery helps,
Feel free to observe an open-handed posture for letting go.
Let go.
Let go.
Let go.
Thank you for holding this space with me today,
My friends.
May grace and peace,
Light and love be with you.
