Bethlehem Ephrathah,
You are one of the smallest towns in Judah.
But out of you I will bring a ruler for Israel,
Whose family line goes back to ancient times.
This passage is written about a people in exile.
The promise here is that those in exile will be reunited with their land and people.
Perhaps there is someone or something in your life you feel exiled from.
Or perhaps there is an area in your life you feel exiled within.
Somewhere you just feel like you don't belong.
The invitation here is to release that feeling of exile to Christ.
Let it go and replace it with hope.
The hope of Advent.
I invite you to focus on your breath.
Take a deep,
Long,
Slow breath in.
And slowly let that breath back out.
And again.
With each breath in,
Imagine you are breathing in hope.
And with each breath out,
Imagine you are releasing that feeling of exile from your body.
And with each breath out,
Imagine you are releasing that feeling of exile from your body.
And with each breath out,
Imagine you are releasing that feeling of exile from your body,
Your mind,
Your heart,
Your spirit.
Repeat this exercise for as long as you feel the need,
Desire,
Or calling.
Breathing in hope.
Releasing that feeling of exile.
Breathing in hope.
Receiving that feeling of exile.
And receive hope.
Breathing in hope.
