Thank you for joining me on this guided meditation today.

Today's practice is going to be an intentional relaxation practice.

This will be a meditation that you can enjoy quickly at any point throughout the day when you need a few moments to relax,

A few moments of conscious breath to relax your physiology and your mind,

Any kind of quick break throughout the day whether you are at work,

Done work,

Just starting your day or bringing everything to a close before bedtime.

Whenever you are ready,

Find a comfortable position,

Settle in,

And we can start with a few deep breaths.

By intentionally breathing deeply with an elongated exhale longer than the inhale,

We are telling our physiology that we are safe and calm and that will help us slow our heart rate and relax our body to really drop into a comfortable relaxed state over the next several minutes.

And let's just add in a few more breaths where we are intentionally relaxing.

All resistance,

All stress,

And all areas where we are holding tension within our body.

These might stand out as dominant sensations,

They might stand out as areas that you might be clenching.

Either way,

On the in breath,

Identify them and on the exhale,

Aim to release that tension.

I like to breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.

If you are able to breathe in through the nose or in and out through the nose,

That can help facilitate relaxation as well.

So during this practice,

We are going to keep it quite simple.

The goal is simply to release tension whenever you notice it arise.

You'll notice you might start re-clenching some of the musculature that you just let go at the start.

Just be aware of that,

Let it go whenever it does re-tighten,

Whenever you catch yourself stuck in a thought,

Allowing the tension from a thought or the resistance to sneak back into your physiology.

Breathing in and letting it go.

The focus here is simply to be in the now.

Whenever tension arises,

Whenever the thoughts of tension or resistance or stress arise,

Letting those go.

Sitting comfortably in the present moment where we are able to relax more deeply with each passing breath.

Trying to calm ourselves more and more,

Really reaching that comfortable state of Zen.

The pathway to relaxation is through the breath and through the present moment.

In the present moment,

There's no future,

There's no past,

It just is the way that it is.

There's no resistance and there's nothing to cling onto.

If you are struggling to relax or release resistance,

The anchor of your practice can simply become relaxation and breaths of relaxation.

Focusing on inhales and the relaxation feeling of the exhale,

That can become your anchor.

Otherwise,

Simply enjoy the present moment with nothing to cling to,

Nothing to attach to.

And the constant release of any tension or resistance that shows up,

No matter how large or subtle it may be.

The goal is perfect relaxation.

This practice can serve as a pause from daily life and a moment to recharge,

Providing the body and the mind with much needed solitude and a quick moment to regain some fresh energy.

Let's rest in this position for just a few more moments.

Well,

.

And to conclude this practice,

Let's take a couple more deep breaths.

Fully filling the lungs and using the breath to wake up the body this time.

Wiggling the arms and the toes,

Filling the lungs and the chest,

And opening your eyes whenever you are ready.
