Transcript

Gently close your eyes or lower your gaze,

Finding a comfortable position.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and a deep breath out through your mouth,

Settling through your body.

Now bring to mind a recent moment when you felt jealous.

It could be something small or something significant.

Notice how it feels in your body.

Perhaps a tightness in your chest.

A contraction in your stomach.

A heaviness in your heart or something else.

Rather than pushing the feeling away,

Gently acknowledge it.

You might say to yourself,

Jealousy is here right now and that's okay.

Now offer yourself kindness.

Imagine speaking to yourself as you would a dear friend.

It's okay to feel this way.

This feeling does not define me.

I am worthy just as I am.

Now shift your awareness to the person you felt jealous of.

Imagine them as a child.

Innocent.

Vulnerable.

Just like you once were.

See them not as someone better or worse,

But simply as another human being on their own journey.

And repeat silently or aloud in your mind,

Just like me,

They have known struggle.

Just like me,

They have felt doubt and fear.

Just like me,

They are doing their best.

And with your next breath,

Imagine softening any walls of separation between you and them.

See them as another flower in the garden of life.

Unique,

But not in competition with you.

There is space for both of you to bloom.

Take a deep breath in.

And as you exhale,

Allow any tension or comparison to gently dissolve away.

Resting in this space for a few moments together.

Feel your own wholeness,

Your own worth.

Focusing the light of attention on yourself.

When you're ready,

Slowly open your eyes.

Bringing this feeling of kind awareness into your day.
