Hello,
My name is Scarlet and welcome to the practice of Yoga Nidra.
This practice is a practice of self-love,
A remembrance of wholeness,
And the essence of who you truly are.
Please gather any props for support such as a bolster,
Blanket,
Or eye pillow and set yourself up in a supine position for extended rest.
Water moves continuously on and below the surface of the earth.
Liquid water evaporates into water vapor.
Water vapor condenses to form clouds and water vapor within clouds precipitates back to earth in the form of rain and snow.
We are a part of this living,
Fluid,
And continuous cycle.
We are made of water,
Space,
Matter,
And form.
Matter and form,
The container of our soul,
Is microscopic in comparison to the vast expanse of water and space.
Even deeper still is the infinite well of energy within.
That's what we will be tapping into today.
Inside each of us lies infinite energy and potential.
Take a spacious cycle of breath to allow your awareness to come into your presence.
Notice how each inhalation offers into each exhalation and how each exhalation offers into each inhalation.
Perhaps even noticing a subtle pause at the top of your inhalation and bottom of your exhalation.
If you haven't already,
Allow your eyes to naturally close and settle your presence completely within.
From the atmosphere of your space,
Connect to the sound of my voice.
My voice will remain as a guide throughout your practice.
Allow everything else to fade away.
From a cellular level,
Begin to traverse into your body from the outside in,
From skin to muscle to bone,
Weaving between each layer of interconnected water molecules.
Imagine sinking deeper through each layer,
Feeling the water within you,
Connected together,
Fluidly moving through you,
Supporting you,
And holding you.
Now imagine you could expand your breath deeper within this space.
Feel the expansion and contraction.
Bring your awareness to your right ribs and feel your right lung breathing.
Bring your awareness to your left ribs and feel your left lung breathing.
Now bring your awareness to the space between and slightly to the left of center,
The space of your heart.
Imagine that around your heart rests a pure water molecule.
With every inhalation,
The water molecule expands.
With every exhalation,
The water molecule settles.
As you continue to sink into your effortless breath,
This pure water molecule continues to expand and grow to encase your entire body.
Like a glass filled to the brim,
This water molecule maintains its structural integrity in complete wholeness.
Within this sphere,
All is whole,
Pure,
And complete.
In this sacred space,
Return back to the sensation of your breath.
With the gentle caress of your breath,
Right lung and left lung breathing in harmony.
Ask permission to enter into the gateway of your heart.
It's from this place where we begin the practice of Yoga Idra.
Set a resolve for your practice.
Film your heart in the form of a sankalpa.
This resolve is a reflection of your highest calling and deepest desires.
A sankalpa is to remember who you are,
For you are already whole.
Within this pure water molecule,
You are able to connect to source.
There is no right or wrong,
Only you know.
Once your sankalpa has come forth,
Repeat your resolve in your heart with authenticity and purpose.
Once you have planted these seeds of intention into your subconscious,
Imagine light from your heart floating up to your pineal gland,
The space of your midbrain where your inner vision resides.
This is the space of clarity.
Upon passing the pineal gland,
Allow this light to bathe your entire body from the crown of your head to your toes in pure wholeness.
Within this water molecule,
All is whole,
Pure,
And complete.
Now,
Imagine water flowing to each area of your body cleansing and soothing your entire system.
Begin on the right side of your body.
Drop your awareness to your right thumb.
Feel your right thumb and all four fingers.
Feel the back of your hand and the palm of your hand.
From your right hand,
Flow your awareness up to your shoulder and down the entire right side of your body to your right foot.
Feel your right big toe and all four toes.
Feel the sole of your foot and the top of your foot and feel your entire right foot.
Fill the entire right side of your body with your awareness.
Whole right side.
Flow your awareness to the left side of your body and drop your awareness to your left thumb.
Feel your left thumb and all four fingers.
Feel the back of your hand and the palm of your hand.
From your left hand,
Flow your awareness up to your shoulder and down the entire left side of your body to your left foot.
Feel your left big toe and all four toes.
Feel the sole of your foot and the top of your foot and feel your entire left foot.
Fill the entire left side of your body with your awareness.
Whole left side.
Now wrap and fill both sides of your body,
Right and left side,
With your awareness.
Both sides together.
Now drop your awareness to the back of your body.
Feel both of your heels,
Up your legs,
Your buttocks on both sides.
Feel the back of your pelvis,
Low back,
Mid back,
And upper back.
Feel your shoulder blades in the backs of your arms,
Down to the backs of both of your hands.
Flow your awareness to your neck and the back of your head and feel your entire back body.
Entire back body.
Now the crown of your head,
Forehead,
Brows,
Brow center,
And both eyes together.
Feel the bridge of your nose,
Tip of your nose,
And both nostrils together.
Feel both of your lips and upper and lower sets of teeth together.
Feel your chin and your jawline and feel your entire face.
Feel the right side of your head,
The left side of your head.
Now feel both sides of your head together.
Feel the right side of your throat,
The left side of your throat,
And feel your whole neck and throat together.
Feel your right collarbone,
Your left collarbone,
And both collarbones together.
Feel the right side of your chest,
The left side of your chest,
And both sides of your chest together.
Your whole chest all together.
Feel the area of your abdomen from your ribs to your belly button,
Low belly,
Pelvis,
And root of your pelvic floor.
Wash your awareness down both of your thighs,
Kneecaps,
Shins,
Ankles,
And the tops of both of your feet.
Feel your right leg from your toes to your hip.
Feel your left leg from your toes to your hip,
And feel the entirety of both of your legs together.
Feel your right arm from your fingertips to your shoulder,
And your left arm from your fingertips to your shoulder.
Now feel both arms together.
Keep your arms and your legs in your awareness,
And add your entire torso and your head to your feeling experience now.
Feel and sense your entire body,
Your whole body.
Feel your whole body together simultaneously now.
Whole body awareness.
Rest in this space.
Return back to the expansion and contraction of your breath.
How far can you expand your breath into the space above you and the space below you?
How far can you expand the breath deep within your body?
Can you create space between each individual water molecule?
Allow this conscious breath awareness to dissolve stagnation between the molecules of your body,
Freeing your channels so you return back to a fluid and whole state.
Feel the edges of your body dissolve,
Opening up into the space around you.
Feel the pulsing polarity of the expansion upward and outward of your body in contraction and descension back into your body.
Your body becomes more interconnected to the vibrant air and space around you.
Rest into this space.
Feel your whole body in complete wholeness,
A vibrant wave of energy enveloping you completely.
Rest your awareness to your pineal gland,
Located at the midbrain between your ears.
This is a space we will return to as we journey deeper together.
I will name a felt experience.
Allow yourself to naturally conjure forth this experience of opposites.
Give yourself permission to fully and freely feel before we rest back to our center.
It is human nature to have an aversion to feeling less desirable emotions,
But it is our human experience to feel the full spectrum of our existence.
By practicing in this manner,
We will create new neural pathways that remove stuck emotions.
I will always guide you back to wholeness.
For a moment,
Allow yourself to feel heavy.
Where does heaviness live in the body?
What does it feel like to carry heaviness in your bones?
Release the feeling of heaviness completely.
Now feel yourself light,
Weightless and buoyant,
Untethered and free.
When you call forth this feeling of lightness,
In what region of your body do you feel the sensation of lightness the most?
Allow this feeling of lightness to be fully released.
For a moment,
Allow yourself to embrace the feeling of holding on.
Notice any emotions that may be associated with holding on.
Where do you notice patterns of holding in your body?
Release the feeling of holding on completely.
Now feel yourself completely letting go.
What does it feel like inside your body when you allow yourself to let go?
Where does the capacity of letting go originate in your body?
What might letting go feel like in your body?
Allow this feeling to be fully released.
Return back to your pineal gland.
Return now.
Feel your whole body breathing effortlessly with your environment.
Feel yourself integrated and whole,
Resting here now.
Feel a sense of oneness.
Return to wholeness.
Return to wholeness.
Return to wholeness.
Allow your body to feel heavy,
Supported against the earth.
The water molecule,
The protective sphere holds and protects you throughout this journey.
Now feel your body begin to float above the earth,
Unrestricted by Mother Earth's gravitational pull.
Feel your body weightless,
Dissolving slowly into the environment.
When you release your tethers,
Your body dissolves completely into vapor and you begin to float weightless up towards an inviting sky of clouds.
These are the ephemeral clouds of your dreams.
Here,
Science has no jurisdiction.
Allow your imagination to see for you.
You are form,
Yet formless.
Feel the clouds caress your body as they softly blow through the breeze.
Float here among the clouds.
Feel yourself in that perfect space between the cosmos and the earth,
Floating effortlessly in the sky.
You are both form and formless.
It is here you return back to a state of oneness,
Unencumbered by the tethers of your past.
Rest and receive.
Here you are at peace.
Rest here fully in spacious awareness.
Your body becomes pure liquid,
Composed of interwoven water molecules,
Taking form and shape as you gently descend back to earth in liquid form.
In wholeness,
All you have released is separate from your body.
The water molecules of your body cycle in and out,
Releasing and transforming as you receive and release.
Everything is constantly changing and so are you.
In this relaxed,
Elevated state,
Return back to rest on the earth,
Back into your body.
Your body,
Mind,
And heart are free.
In this earthly state,
Remember this feeling.
You are fluid,
Yet weightless,
Buoyant,
Yet grounded.
Repeat your sankalpa three times,
Allowing it to resonate within your heart.
The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.
Allow your inner brows to decompress,
Cheekbones to travel away from your nose,
Your jawline to widen.
Allow small movements to come back into your body before stretching your arms overhead for a full body stretch,
Full body extension.
Roll onto either side into a fetal position,
Symbolizing a rebirth and separation from your limiting beliefs.
As you rise,
Allow anything that is still holding on to you to drip down and away as you float up to a comfortable seat,
Buoyant and light.
We are part of a living,
Fluid,
And continuous cycle.
Set your intention for the rest of your day.
How do you wish to feel?
What would it feel like to traverse the rest of your day,
Fully and wholly connected,
Either holding on or letting go,
Simply resting in the space of your presence?
