
Embrace Your Shadow

Embracing your shadow is an essential part of the healing journey. The shadow is essentially the aspects of yourself that you reject, deny or try to hide away. When we can embrace our shadows and love all of ourselves, that's when the healing truly happens, the magic unfolds and the growth augments. This meditation was recorded at a live community event and wisdom talk that I shared.
Transcript
Yeah,
If you want to close your eyes and get cozy.
Start taking some deep breaths into your body.
And I want to just invite you,
Even if you get distracted during this meditation,
I want to invite you to just do your best to keep your eyes closed and just stay present with what's here and whatever comes up for you.
So before we go into the meditation,
I want to just invite you to think of what's one aspect of your shadow that you want to bring more love to today.
So what's one part of yourself that you reject or that you're hard on yourself about,
One area that you know you hold yourself back in?
See if you can bring that to your mind right now.
And let's work with that for the meditation.
So taking some deep breaths into your body and really feeling yourself connected to the surface below you right now in this moment.
Feeling supported.
With each in-breath,
You can use your intention to breathe in new life force energy,
New prana or chi into your body,
Pure energy into you.
And on your out-breath,
You can let that melt.
Let any of the stress inside of you or tension or pain just melt away down through the ground or surface beneath you.
And continue with the cycle,
Breathing in new light into your body.
And softening,
Releasing,
Letting go on your exhales.
I want to invite you to visualize a beautiful big circle all around you in the space that you're in.
Circle of pure light.
I recommend envisioning it as silver light.
This is a circle of protection,
Closing off all your boundaries around you and allowing the filter from this light to only let in pure love and energy into your field.
If you'd like,
You can call upon your spiritual team,
If you have one,
To come and join you inside the circle.
Spirit guides,
Ascended masters,
Goddess energy,
The earth,
Animals,
Whatever you would like,
Invite these into your circle and ask for their presence to be here with you today for this meditation to help guide you,
To help support you,
To help hold and protect you.
And I want you to envision and feel a beautiful column of light running up your spine from the base of your spine all the way to the top of your head.
Envision this column of light and feeling its presence here,
Allowing it for you to bring your awareness fully into yourself and into your center right now with this column of light.
Use that intention,
I'm here in my center.
Extending into this column of light,
Feeling it through your whole spine.
And I want to invite you to visualize this column of light extending now downwards into the earth,
Into the soil beneath you.
Visualize,
Feel,
Use your intention to push this column of light to allow it to extend down into the earth,
All the way down until it plugs right into the core of another earth.
And you can visualize now and sense this fiery energy from the core of the earth,
Breathing that up and into your body through this column of light.
Allowing the intelligence of this energy to move through your body as needed to help release anything that no longer serves you in this moment.
Setting up that fire into your body and using your exhale to let go.
And now this column of light,
I want to invite you to extend it upwards,
Just above your head by one or two feet.
And right there is a beautiful orb of light.
This is your higher self,
The divine aspect of you,
This all knowing part of you.
And allow this column of light to plug in to this orb.
If at any point in any of the practices or guidance that I give you today,
You feel difficulty,
You can ask your spiritual team,
Your team of light to help you.
All you need to do is ask.
So feeling this connection with your higher self,
This orb of light above you,
Begin to breathe down this energy into your body and all around your field,
Visualizing white light.
Like a beautiful white waterfall pouring into you.
Feel the nourishment of this light right now.
Feel your intuitive centers opening more with this energy.
And I want to invite you to imagine yourself right now in front of a sacred pool of water.
Notice what this looks like.
And what color the water is in this pool of water.
And before you go inside,
I want you to sit by this edge for a moment and bring into your awareness this aspect of your shadow that you are going to work with today.
The aspect I invited you to call to mind before we started the meditation.
Or if something else has come up for you in the meantime,
Feel free to invite that into your awareness and into your presence with you right now as well.
And what comes up for you in your body as you tune into this aspect of your shadow?
Do you notice yourself tighten up?
Is there pain in a certain part of your body?
What's there?
What's different in your physical body?
You don't need to do anything with it other than just be present with that energy right now,
This part of your shadow.
And see if you can just hold space for it.
Maybe there's an image that comes up for you around this aspect of your shadow.
There's some kind of image or symbol or memory that comes to mind.
Allow yourself to explore right now,
Knowing that you're safe,
You are held,
You are protected.
And can you drop a little bit deeper into the sensations right now that you're feeling in your body around this aspect of your shadow?
Can you open a little bit more?
If you're experiencing any discomfort,
Can you open to that discomfort?
In this moment,
If you'd like,
You can call upon the lion,
The spirit of the lion to come be with you or another animal that you connect with.
What kind of nurturing does your shadow need right now from you?
I really want to encourage you to.
.
.
To bring in this energy,
This maternal energy into the space with you as you're here with your shadow.
What kind of nurturing does your shadow need?
Does it need love?
Does it need to be held?
Does it need kind words of affirmation and encouragement?
Do you need.
.
.
Does your shadow need a little bit of play?
And looking at this water in this pool once again in front of you,
The sacred water,
Notice if the water has shifted or if it's still the same as before.
And I want to invite you to go into this pool and just cleanse and feel the nurturing energy of the water.
Feel the gentleness of the water and the softness of it.
And as you're in there,
It's almost as if the water is embracing you,
Embracing your shadow.
Can you do that in this moment?
Can you embrace your shadow?
Can you hold space for it with love?
Feel how this water cleanses and purifies you and this aspect of your shadow right now,
Allowing anything to melt away that needs to be let go of right now.
Feeling in that softness from the water,
Again,
That feeling of embrace,
Gentleness,
And breathing in self-acceptance.
You are exactly where you're meant to be right now.
Tuning into your inner voice right now in this moment,
Your intuition.
Is there anything that you need to know?
Is there any message that your higher self wants to tell you?
Is there anything that you want to tell your shadow?
Maybe it's just simply,
I love you.
And then I want to invite you just to take your arms,
Your physical arms,
And just give yourself a little bit of a hug right now.
Touch your body,
Touch your skin with the intention of nurturance and love.
Maybe say some words of affirmation to yourself.
I love you.
You're amazing.
You're talented,
You're gifted,
You're inspiring,
Whatever it is that you want to say to yourself.
When you're ready,
You can begin to step out of the pool.
Taking your time and on the edges of the pool,
We have some new outfits for you that you can put on,
Something that represents you feeling,
You accepting yourself exactly where you're at.
You committing to a deeper path of love for yourself,
A deeper path of being able to nurture yourself more.
And we can give thanks to your spiritual team for being there with you in this space,
Being here with you today.
You can begin to bring your attention back into your physical body,
Connecting with your fingers and your toes,
Beginning to move them around slowly.
Breathing any way you need and beginning to come back to the space.
