Welcome to the practice of Yoga Nidra.

My name is Serendipity Johnson and I'll be your guide today into this fire meditation.

Your only job is to relax and follow the practice.

You get to cool down your inner fires and rest comfortably right now.

Please lie down on your back if that's comfortable for you.

The ideal position for Yoga Nidra is in Shavasana.

That's when we lay down on our backs with our feet slightly spread apart and our palms facing upward.

But I really would like to invite you to find whatever position works best for you today.

Like lava flowing down a volcano,

Allow yourself to ooze into the floor or your bed and get very very calm right now.

If you feel comfortable with your feet flopped a little to the side,

That's great.

If you feel comfortable enough to allow your arms to be slightly away from your body with your palms facing upward,

That's a great position.

You may choose to put on an eye mask or wear a light blanket during a Yoga Nidra session.

Whatever feels the most comfortable to you is absolutely correct.

Ideally you're going to keep your eyes closed and not move for this practice.

However,

If it feels better to you to move to get into a more comfortable position,

I invite you to do what's best for you.

If you fall asleep during the practice,

That's okay.

That just means you need more rest and that is perfect.

So please gently close your eyes and keep them closed through all of the fire meditation.

If you have any more energy that needs to be slightly wiggled out,

Please do that now.

Yeah,

Just get yourself very comfortable and very relaxed.

You deserve this time right now.

There's nowhere else that you need to be right now.

To help you relax,

I'd like to practice tightening up and squeezing your body as you inhale and then as you exhale you'll let go of this pressure and tension and relax the muscles.

So tighten up and squeeze your body as you inhale.

Get tight,

Tight like iron and then exhale and release like you're letting off steam.

Let's start again by tightening the muscles in your feet and legs.

Tight,

Tight,

Iron tight.

Then exhale,

Release and relax.

Now tighten your belly,

Bottom and back.

Tight,

Exhale,

Release.

Inhale while squeezing and tightening the muscles.

Exhale while releasing and relaxing.

Let's squeeze the shoulders,

Arms and hands.

Tight,

Exhale,

Release.

Tighten the neck,

Head and face.

Squeeze,

Squeeze.

Exhale,

Release.

Yeah.

Now tighten your whole body.

Tight,

Tight,

Tight,

Tight.

Exhale,

Release.

Tighten the whole body again.

Tight like iron,

Tight.

Exhale,

Release.

One more time on an inhale.

Iron tight,

Whole body,

Bum,

Face,

Hands,

Everywhere.

Exhale,

Release the steam.

Now let go of focus and just relax your body.

Release and relax.

Yeah,

Good.

Now I'd like to invite you to set a positive goal,

Thought or intention for yourself today.

It's also called a sankalpa.

This could be a very short and positive statement that helps you throughout today or something else that you're working on beyond just this practice.

That could be like,

I respect myself.

I am worthy.

I own my own power or I invite my inner strength to manifest.

So take a moment and silently create and repeat an affirmation for yourself three times.

I'd also like you to set a goal to stay awake and alert during our session.

Like I said,

If you need to fall asleep,

That's great as well.

But if possible,

You'll get more out of the practice.

If you can stay alert and awake during our session,

Feel free to repeat that.

I will stay awake and alert during our session silently to yourself.

Good.

We will now begin the rotation of consciousness.

As I name different parts of the body,

Please feel or imagine energy dancing around that body part.

Become aware of the parts of the body,

But don't move them.

The energy can be any color or vibration that you'd like today.

Just try and stay awake and pay attention to your body and to my voice.

We'll start feeling or imagining energy tingling on the right side,

Right hand thumb,

Second finger,

Third finger,

Fourth finger,

Little finger,

Whole right hand,

Whole right arm,

Shoulder,

Right side of the chest,

Waist,

Hip,

Whole right leg,

Right foot,

The toes,

Right big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe,

Little toe,

All five toes together.

Now,

Imagine the energy moving to the left side,

Left hand thumb,

Second finger,

Third finger,

Fourth finger,

Little finger,

The whole left hand,

The whole left arm,

Shoulder,

Whole left arm,

Shoulder,

Left side of the chest,

Waist,

Hip,

Whole left leg,

Left foot,

Your toes,

Left big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe,

Little toe,

All five toes together.

Two feet together,

The two legs together,

The bottom,

Stomach,

Chest,

Back,

The two shoulder blades,

The two arms,

The neck,

Head,

Scalp,

Forehead,

Eyes,

Right ear,

Left ear,

Nose,

Left ear,

Nose,

Right cheek,

Left cheek,

Mouth,

Lips,

Tongue,

Teeth,

Chin,

The whole face,

The whole head,

The whole neck,

The whole back,

The whole back,

Arms,

And legs together,

The whole body together,

The whole body together,

The whole body together.

Please notice your breathing now without trying to change it in any way.

Just notice the connection the breath shares between the belly and the throat.

Notice how it flows up and down,

Up and down,

Up and down.

Now,

Focus on feeling the breath moving along this passageway.

As you inhale,

It flows down to the belly.

As you exhale,

It moves up to the throat.

Keep paying attention to your breath,

And at the same time,

Please start counting backwards from 27 to zero.

27,

Inhale.

27,

Exhale.

26,

Inhale.

26,

Exhale.

25,

Inhale.

25,

Exhale.

Keep counting backward silently to yourself as you notice the breath passage between the belly and the throat.

If you lose your counting,

Just go back to 27 If you lose your counting,

Just go back to 27 and start again.

Pay attention to breathing and counting.

Keep counting backwards.

Wonderful.

Now,

Release the counting.

I'd like to invite you to feel or imagine yourself setting out on a quest.

You've been invited to the top of a sacred mountain to study your favorite skill from a learned master.

Even though you don't fully know where you are going or why,

You know that you are equipped with everything you need to get to the highest peak of the massive mountain.

You may feel fear of being alone when you face some obstacles in your path.

You overcome any of those challenges with your courage,

Desire,

Strength,

And willpower.

You are focused and determined to reach the top and fulfill your quest.

You climb up hills and down into deep valleys,

Back up again.

Notice the differences between the snowy mountains and the snowy mountains.

Notice the differences between the snowy,

Cold tops of the mountain of each pass and the warm summer weather in the valleys below.

You notice the different animals,

Flowers,

And plants as you pass each level of your quest.

The top of the mountain becomes hidden behind a cloud.

You look below and grab hold of a rock.

You wonder if you should turn back and go home,

Or will you ever reach the top?

You have such a strong curiosity about what is waiting for you,

You decide to move forward.

You take a deep breath and let out a long exhale,

Summoning your courage.

Again,

You inhale and expel a long exhale,

And you succeed.

You make it to the top.

As you come to the highest peak of this magnificent mountain,

You notice a small fire welcoming you over.

You come near the beautiful,

Blazing fire and warm yourself,

Resting as you enjoy the flickering embers.

You begin to see shapes and forms in the fire,

Reminding you of the past.

Reminding you of your journey and your strong willpower.

You gain a deep appreciation for yourself and this warming fire element.

You easily see and feel images of your strength,

Your confidence,

And your willpower.

You feel empowered and whole as you take time to rest and enjoy this part of your journey.

Your teacher comes to join you by the fire,

And the two of you know you will learn many things from each other.

Your teacher invites you to release any fear,

Any negativity into the fire.

You visualize unwanted energy leaving your body and being transformed by the fire into strength.

You are grateful for the experiences.

You are granted three gifts of knowledge.

You see or feel the images of the gifts come through the fire as sacred symbols,

And you know they are already a part of you.

In fact,

You already had the gifts within you before you left on the quest.

The learned master asks if you are ready for your next adventure,

And you bravely say yes.

Now you are off to visit the ancient volcano beds on Mars.

You fly through the dark cold of space.

Past the blazing heat of the sun,

You notice the giant gaseous outer planets,

And notice how tiny Earth seems in comparison.

You see nebulas,

Stars,

Comets,

Asteroids before going through a wormhole safely right back home.

You remember the teacher was you all along.

You can direct your strength and willpower toward many things without opening your eyes.

Imagine these different objects as I say them.

Imagine you have a screen in front of your closed eyes about six inches out,

Like a tablet,

And as I say these images,

Imagine they come onto the screen and then quickly swipe away.

Now bring your attention back into your body and back into this space.

Notice you're lying on the floor or in a chair or on the ground.

Notice how connected your body feels to the floor or space beneath you.

Notice any sounds that you can hear around you.

Pay attention to any sounds you can hear from outside of the space you're in.

Notice if you hear any sounds from inside the space you're in.

Notice the sound of your breathing.

Remember the positive intention or sankalpa you set for yourself at the beginning.

Please repeat that goal or intention to yourself now three times.

Let it light you up.

When you're ready,

Slowly allow your fingers and toes to move like gentle flames.

Allow the movements to get a little bigger as your fire builds.

Stretch your arms above your head or rock back and forth a few times,

Letting the energy move throughout your whole body.

When you are fully present and fully aware,

At your own pace,

Please sit up in a comfortable position.

Keep your eyes lightly closed if that works for you.

If you feel drawn to it,

Feel free to join me while we chant Aum three times to complete our yoga nidra session.

Exhale all of the air out of your lungs.

Inhale and then we'll begin three Aums.

Aum.

Aum.

Thank you so much for joining me today.

Feel free to leave a comment or ask any questions.

I'm happy to support you in your journey.

I have some other yoga nidra meditations available,

As well as positive affirmations and several courses.

Your presence is of value.
