Hello again,
Everyone.
I'm going to be introducing a practice today called Kind Eyes that's designed to help us restore the ability to feel safe,
Loving connection.
So to begin,
You might just find a comfortable position where you can be relaxed,
But also alert and aware.
And to begin,
You might just take a few kind of conscious breaths,
Inviting the breath to soften and deepen just a little bit.
You might close your eyes if it feels comfortable to you or just let them rest softly down in front of you.
And when you're ready,
Go ahead and call to mind either a person or a pet that represents unconditional love and wisdom to you.
It could be someone in your life.
It could be someone who's past.
It could be someone you know through their work or their writing.
It could be even someone imaginary,
But just someone who represents that spirit of love and compassion.
And so you might just notice them as if they're sitting in front of you now,
Smiling at you.
And see if you can bring your gaze to theirs and just notice the kindness radiating from their eyes to you.
And as you stay with that,
Just noticing how it feels inside of you when you see them looking at you this way.
Really just kind of noticing the fullness of the kindness that you see in their eyes,
Really that they're just delighted to see you.
They don't need anything from you.
They don't need you to be a certain way or not be a certain way.
They just love you.
So just continuing to breathe and then noticing that quality of love and kindness that their eyes express to you and see if it's possible to let that in just a little bit more.
There's all kinds of things that may come up as you practice opening to that.
You may find resistance to it.
It may feel kind of numb.
On the other hand,
It could feel quite overwhelming.
So just be kind with yourself and be patient and just kind of meeting your comfortable edge,
Just receiving as much of it as you can.
Just again,
Paying attention to how it feels inside of you at the level of emotions and also body sensations.
Just really relaxing into the sweetness of receiving kind eyes,
Loving eyes,
Just relaxing loving eyes.
And you might see if you can also be aware of the security that you feel with this person right now,
A real sense of trust that their eyes bestow really out of the genuineness of their care for you.
You can really relax with that.
So for these last few breaths,
You might just see if you can now bring your eyes to meet their eyes.
So just a small shift here from purely receiving to actually letting your gaze meet theirs,
Letting your eyes meet theirs,
And just seeing how that is.
If you're feeling openness,
You might notice that your eyes kind of naturally mirror theirs back.
Your eyes naturally want to light up in the same way.
And if not,
That's okay,
Too.
This is really just a practice,
Just an experiment really.
So to close,
You might again see if you can stay with their eyes.
And see if you could communicate with your just your eyes.
Thank you for your kindness.
It's such a gift.
Great,
So you can drop all of that now and just come back to your own breath.
Just you now.
Let's take a few more breaths.
Notice how you feel.
Wonderful.
So you can come back to this practice however often you like.
And the more you practice it the stronger your heart will respond to it.
Thank you.
