Greetings and welcome.
In today's journey we will meet the goddess Hecate,
An ancient Greek goddess.
She is connected with the underworld,
The dark night and the dark moon.
She oversees magic and witchcraft and she is a guide.
We have met her briefly before in the story of Demeter and Persephone as she guides both goddesses through the underworld with torchlight.
And in today's meditation she will do the same for us.
So as always,
Take your time.
Find your restful place for your meditation journey today.
Find blankets,
Cushions,
Feel supported and warm.
Allow easeful breaths and a sense of letting go.
To allow you to settle into ease and into calm.
We will begin our journey visualizing a doorway.
This doorway can be made up of stone,
Wood or tree roots.
It might be intricately carved with beautiful symbols.
It might be ancient and covered in moss and lichen.
The door is old and heavy but you feel a sense of calm before it.
It has clearly been here for centuries and will be here for centuries more.
As you admire this great doorway and door,
The door opens as if you have been expected.
And before you,
At the threshold,
Is goddess Hecate.
She smiles in gentle welcome.
In her hands she holds two lanterns filled with candles.
She hands one to you.
And she turns and begins to journey down a corridor.
And you know that it is time for you to follow.
So crossing over the threshold,
The door gently closes behind you.
And you travel down a corridor.
It is quiet,
Cosseted by thick walls and gently lit by your lanterns.
You take slow and steady steps,
Guided by Hecate.
Down,
Down,
Down.
As you travel downwards,
You feel a sense of any noise from the outside world falling silent now.
As you travel to a place of quiet,
Of darkness,
But also a place of reflection,
Of restoration,
A place of sanctuary.
As you come to the end of the corridor,
Hecate steps out and invites you to enter a great room under the earth.
The beautiful domed ceiling above you is carved,
Hewn into rock and earth.
And a great skylight,
Circular at its centre,
Casts a beautiful soft light upon the earth beneath you.
And as you gaze down,
You see that patterned upon the floor is a labyrinth,
A pathway of curls and circles and spirals.
And you know that this is why Hecate has brought you here.
Hecate leads the way.
And you follow,
Following her lantern light and her shore steps through this curling,
Weaving labyrinth upon the floor.
Hecate leads the way.
So focused and unhurried has the journey been that you don't notice for a moment that Hecate has stopped and you have reached the centre of the labyrinth.
And you know it is the centre,
Because as if revealed to you by magic,
At the centre of this labyrinth stands a great tree with strong wide roots.
The tree's branches rise up all the way to that beautiful skylight above you.
This tree is now visible to you as you have reached the centre of the labyrinth.
You could not see it before,
But it is before you now and it is beautiful.
And as you admire the tree,
You see that cast amongst its roots,
There are little doors,
Little golden doors,
Small and sweet as if doors from the fairies.
And Hecate gestures to three particular doors in the base of the tree that stand side by side.
You understand that you must choose a door.
And Hecate steps beside you now and places a hand on your shoulder to reassure you that this is not a choice that can be right or wrong.
It's simply a moment of change,
Of intuition,
A moment of possibility.
And as you select your little fairy door,
You gently open and observe what is inside.
It might be a message,
It might be a gift,
It might be a token from the natural world.
It may even be empty space for this moment.
Hecate stands behind you to remind you that any message or known message is perhaps just what you need right now in this moment.
And the time comes that Hecate bids you to rise from your place by these little doorways.
And she guides you out of the sacred chamber.
There is a little pathway,
A direct route back to the corridor.
But now as you travel down the corridor,
It is you that leads the way.
Hecate walks behind you.
The corridor now is gently rising upwards,
Up,
Up,
Rising back towards that beautiful doorway and the threshold where we began our journey.
Once more the beautiful door opens and you step back out into the world.
A little sense perhaps of noise and busyness beginning to appear once more as you leave that quiet sanctuary of the place under the earth.
You turn to give back the lantern that Hecate has gifted you,
But she smiles and shakes her head.
The lantern is yours now,
Along with any other messages or symbols or gifts you have received upon this journey.
She reminds you that she will always stand behind you,
Resting a gentle hand upon your shoulder.
In her role as guide,
She is here simply to light the way.
You are the true journey,
Your pathway and your choices.
She will be here to support you as you learn and grow with every choice,
With every crossroads.
And as you bid the goddess farewell,
You carry your lantern in a sense of hope and possibility back into the world.
A light,
A hope and a sense of gentle guidance as we walk paths on dark evenings under the light of the moon.
And so,
My dearest ones,
Perhaps the next inhale is just a little longer,
A little deeper than the last.
Take a stretch and a little movement as we return to the room and to the day.
And when you feel ready,
We can gently open the eyes and I will welcome you back.
Thank you so much for joining me for this special journey with Hecate.
And I hope to journey with you again soon.
Thank you and Namaste.
Thank you.
