Greetings friends,
And welcome to this journey with a goddess we know as the Morrigan.
Her story is useful particularly now I think in autumn and winter.
This Irish Celtic deity is considered very powerful,
Fearsome to some.
She is the goddess of death and battle,
The keeper of fates and prophecies.
She is a wise and all-knowing goddess,
And although we sometimes view goddesses of death as fearsome,
Scary,
She is first and foremost a guide,
A guardian,
Someone to watch over us.
She is a goddess that represents the full cycle of life,
Often seen in her threefold form of maiden,
Mother and crow,
Or as three goddess figures or three birds,
Three ravens or crows.
And we'll use that simple imagery within our meditation journey today.
So as always take your time,
Find a place that is restful and calm,
Where you feel safe and warm.
Take your time with easeful breaths.
Take your time to let the body relax.
And know that for the next ten minutes or so there's no way you have to go,
You can turn off your phone and just settle into a place of stillness.
When we journey with ideas of goddesses and deities,
Sometimes we feel a real connection,
A real kinship to them and their power.
Sometimes we might connect to ideas and inspirations.
Sometimes it is simply a little break from the day,
So don't feel you need to put too much pressure on yourself for each and every meditation journey to be the same or to be as you might expect it to be.
People go in without any expectations,
No pressure.
So here within the season of autumn and winter we might conjure within our mind's eye a beautiful field of forests and the harvest has been all gathered in.
So you might just see little cut stems of wheat or grain,
Trampled grasses,
Maybe a few weeds and wildflowers making their way through,
Going forth once more while the autumn sun is still warm.
And what we may also see within these harvested fields is birds,
Crows or ravens,
Jumping and dancing,
Looking for food and calling out to their kin.
The field itself represents that cycle of life,
The sowing of seeds,
Their growth and harvest.
And here at the end of that cycle,
The crows,
The ravens,
Like the morrigan,
Represent an ending,
A death of the cycle,
But with hope to be found the cycle,
The circle will always continue.
Reflecting on that idea of cycles and journeys.
As you are wondering this you see that three crows now sit before you,
Looking up at you with shining eyes,
And you can't help but think of the goddess morrigan,
The threefold goddess,
As you see these three birds looking upon you.
Their wise corvid eyes remind you of her wisdom,
Her presence and her knowledge.
And it may be that these birds represent something specific to you,
Or you feel a sense almost of a message that they are offering you.
Perhaps there is a message to,
Like them,
Make the most of the season and enjoy what can be uncovered when the harvest is all gathered in.
Maybe their message is to seek your companions,
Your peers,
Your kin,
To support you in the darker months.
Maybe their presence is just that,
A presence of these beautiful messengers,
These beautiful symbols,
These beautiful birds.
We all stand together,
Be three boys,
To each one another,
And to the wherein ever and to the time when we can connect to each other.
And with a calmness,
Just relax just relax.
And with a calmness now,
These three birds gently spread their wings,
Bid you farewell in their own way,
And take flight.
Can you watch them curl and weave into the autumn skies?
Can you continue your path,
Walking from the harvested fields into your onward journey?
Your next steps on the cycle,
Your next steps through the wheel of the year,
And your next steps upon your own journey.
Watch over all powerful deities and beautiful birds.
Thank you so much for joining me for this journey.
This journey to introduce just a few ideas of the Morrigan.
Take your time if you wish to stretch or move and gently unravel from your peaceful time in meditation and in journey.
Whenever you feel ready you can rise to an easy seat,
Perhaps have a nice stretch towards the sky.
And I welcome you back as we gently open the eyes.
Once again I thank you for joining me.
The Morrigan is a specifically Irish Celtic goddess,
So I invite you if you are inspired by these little sparks of story to seek the history and culture of Ireland and their beautiful deities as always approaching the cultures of others with humility,
Love and respect.
I wish you well on your onward journey.
Until next time,
Thank you.
I'll see you soon.
