Greetings friends and welcome.
In today's meditation we will take a journey with the ancient Celtic goddess Nematoma.
She of the sacred groves.
She is an ancient goddess who has gone by many names.
And like many of our oldest goddesses she exists only in wisps and shadows,
The briefest of stories.
But that is okay.
Because to connect to a goddess and her energy is something we can all do,
No matter how sparse the written records may be.
After all the goddesses and the great deities represent more than just names or carvings.
They are hope.
They are feeling.
They are ideas.
They were created by us as humans to represent energies and powers we could not fathom.
So when we connect to any deity,
To any energy,
We accept that this is a world beyond words,
Beyond texts,
Beyond words.
This is a world of the other,
The mystery and the magic.
Nematoma is a goddess of sanctuary.
Of sacred groves and special places.
So within this meditation I will guide you but also will take some time for quiet to find our own place of sanctuary within.
So we will begin as we often do.
Find your comfortable place.
Close your eyes.
And begin to let the day and the noise of the world fall away.
Allow the muscles of the body,
The limbs to relax.
Allow the breath to settle,
To calm.
Our goddess guide,
Our lady of sanctuary,
Rests as the stillness of the end of a summer's day.
When the earth is warm and the birds sing at dusk.
Where we feel peaceful and content.
So perhaps in our minds eye we will envisage ourselves in that place of stillness on a summer's evening.
Sacred grove once meant sacred trees but your space can include anything you wish.
So your sacred grove might be a field of wild flowers,
A stone circle,
Ancient trees.
It is a space we hold dear to our hearts.
This can be sacred to us.
And the goddess Namatoma holds space for us here.
She is the quiet and the light.
She is the sense of sacredness and calm that fall over us in this space.
There are no rules here,
No right or wrong of practice and ritual.
What we offer here is simply a breath and a being.
A resting and a calming within the space of sanctuary.
The space of the sacred.
The space in between the breaths.
Each inhale and exhale.
This is where the sacred pause and the sacred space resides.
The space of the in between.
With the earth beneath us.
The air around us.
Here we simply bask in a little light,
A little warmth and the nature we see around us.
Whether that be grass or stone,
Rock or tree,
Water or wildflower.
When these come on these days we can simply relish it.
You You You You Brave ones dear ones As our little time in sanctuary comes to a close just for now I Invite you Next time you find yourself Somewhere special to you Whether that be in the shade of a beautiful tree or resting in your own garden Take time to savor to sit in the sacred The elements of earth and air Water and fire all around us in the natural world And the sacredness and magic of the deities around us We may find our sacred rose In any place we come to in mindfulness and meditation So take your time perhaps you take some deeper breath Perhaps you stretch out through the body And whenever you feel ready you can gently open the eyes and just for now I welcome you back to the world But know that you can return to the place of myth and magic and sacred energy Whenever you wish So thank you again for joining me.
I look forward to meeting you again soon You
