There was a time in my life when I was experiencing some profound fears.
And these fears affected me a lot.
So one morning I woke up and I heard this voice in my head.
And this voice said,
Love what you hate and it will lose power over you.
Love what you hate and it will lose power over you.
I welcome you to this meditation called transforming fear.
And this voice in my head that I was talking about was some entity or something that was telling me that I need to face my fears.
I need to love my fears.
I need to stop resisting my fears.
I need to stop hating my fears.
And I need to embrace them.
I need to have a conversation with them.
And this is precisely what we will do in this session today,
In this meditation today.
We will talk to our fears and we will see that what happens.
Because I believe that once we have a conversation with our fears,
Once we embrace our fears and talk to them,
I feel that they have something immensely powerful to teach us.
And that teaching can lead to a great transformation.
So in this meditation,
What we will do is we will give a personality to our fear.
Or in other words,
We will personify our fear.
Now the problem with fear is that we can't really see our fear.
And hence it becomes difficult to talk to our fear.
So that is why we are giving a personality to this fear,
So that we can have a conversation with it.
So in this meditation,
What you can do is you can see your fear as a person.
You can give it a personality.
And what I like to do is I see my fear as a person who looks just like me,
But is a very fearful version of me.
Someone who is totally embodying that fear.
So without further ado,
Let's get started.
You can get into a comfortable posture and then you can gradually close your eyes.
Allow your body to relax,
Your mind to relax.
Let's start with becoming aware of our breath.
So bring your awareness to your breath and just observe your breath as it goes in and out of your body.
Let your awareness follow the flow of your breath.
And this time as you breathe in,
Visualize that you are breathing in white light.
And as you breathe out,
Visualize that you are breathing out thick black smoke.
Through this black smoke,
Through your out-breath,
You are releasing the fear from your body.
Continue breathing in white light and breathing out black smoke.
And now this black smoke that you are breathing out is transforming.
It is turning into a person.
This energy is getting accumulated and has become a person now.
This is your fearful self.
This is your fear personified.
Visualize this fearful version of you.
Your fearful self is sitting right in front of you.
Notice the clothes that they are wearing.
Notice their body language.
Notice their facial expressions.
Notice the fear in their eyes.
And now you will ask three questions to your fearful self.
And this fearful self of yours will talk to you.
So the first question you ask is,
When did you enter my life?
When did you enter my life?
And let your fearful self answer.
Take your time to listen to what your fearful self has to say.
And now you ask the second question.
What are you trying to teach me?
What are you trying to teach me?
And now you ask the third question.
How can I use you to my advantage?
How can I use you to my advantage?
And now if you feel like it,
You can say something to your fearful self.
Or if you feel like it,
You can also give a warm loving embrace to your fearful self.
And then gradually bring your awareness back to the presence of your body and your surroundings.
And then slowly in your own time,
You can come out of the practice.
