In this practice you will be guided to connect with your hips - first through guided prompts and gentle self-touch and then through movement and music. Hips unlock our vitality. It can be a quick and effective remedy when you feel dispirited, numb, uninspired or stuck in your creative process. If you're new to hip movement, stay curious, try on the prompts that feel right and leave the rest. See how this practice makes you feel. If you like it, I recommend including this practice in your morning routine or just before you sit to work or create something. You only need a space to move in where you won't be interrupted for 10-15 minutes. I hope you enjoy it. For this practice you will need some space,

Just ideally in your room,

Where you can stand up and move a little bit.

We are going to be connecting with our hips.

We are focusing on hips because hips are really a magical place in a woman's body.

This is where we have our womb,

This is where we grow a baby.

This is where our playful,

Sensual and sexual energy can often express itself.

Just thinking about a woman moving with her hips is a very beautiful image,

A very sensual and embodied image.

Unfortunately,

Hips is often what we don't move,

Living our usual lifestyles,

Sitting a lot,

Working in offices,

Being at a desk,

Or even just finding it hard to actually make space for movement,

Or for dance,

Or for joy.

So today we are going to be with our hips intentionally and we are going to move a little bit and we are going to see how that makes us feel.

So with that,

Just find a space where you feel ready.

I recommend that you are starting standing for this practice.

Find your feet firmly planted on the ground and maybe first just start by feeling your body being really supported by your feet,

Your legs and your hips.

Feel into the root that they are and how much they carry every day,

Holding us upright and taking us to places.

And maybe to just make a little bit of contact,

I invite you to put your hands on your hips,

On the side of your hips.

Maybe you can feel your hip bone and just the tissue surrounding your hips,

Both on the sides,

On the back towards your sacrum.

Maybe you just want to sort of trace a line over there.

Feel how nice it can feel to put a warm palm onto your sacrum.

Maybe just make some up and down strokes,

Making that space warm and cozy.

And then sliding your hands back onto the side of your hips.

And also maybe just making little circles with your palms.

Just feeling,

There's a lot of tissue fascia.

Sometimes it can get a little dense when we don't move so much.

So just like our slow,

Warm,

Circular touch can really bring some aliveness to that area.

And now I invite you to bring your hands forward.

You can make a little triangle shape where your fingertips start at your pubic bone and your thumbs are at your belly button.

And that is your womb.

Just saying hi to your womb.

Maybe holding your hands or maybe rubbing around in circular motions.

Just bringing some more fluidity and warmth to that area of your body.

Just connecting with this whole band,

This whole pelvic band from your sacrum to your belly.

And maybe even groin area.

Also just sliding your hands up and down in your groin because there's a lot of lymph nodes in there.

And when our lymph nodes are properly activated and there's good flow,

Then that also supports our menstrual cycle and the blood flow to the pelvis.

Also our immunity.

So just doing a little getting to know our hips,

Our pelvis.

Just familiarizing ourselves with this area before we start moving.

I am going to play a little bit of music for this practice.

I think music and especially drums can really help us get into our hips.

So I will be offering little prompts,

But I just really invite you to listen to the music and move in whatever way calls you forward.

Really trying to keep your attention in your hips.

See if your movement can actually start from your hips.

So maybe just starting with little bouncing up and down.

Okay,

So you've got the moves.

And now I'm going to just play one three-minute song.

And this is completely for you to enjoy and explore in a completely intuitive way.

I won't be prompting you anymore.

And I invite you to feel your femininity,

Feel your creativity swirling in your hips and just let yourself go.

Have fun.

I'll let my body move while I got Shakti raining over me.

Gave birth to all this energy and in between my thighs I have big walls and made the mirrors.

So if you can't see yourself,

Let your reflection make it clearer in the Queendom.

Women praising other women and we're loving on each other like the way we should be living in the Queendom.

We don't compare in shame or jealousy.

We're busy celebrating the way God created you and me,

The Queendom.

If you let my body move while I got Shakti raining over me,

The Queendom.

Gave birth to all this energy and in between my thighs I have a universe inside of me.

I hope you feel juicy,

Hydrated.

And I hope that you can feel this energy of the hips that can be quite expansive on one level but also quite grounded.

And I invite you to just take a little moment right now to sit on the ground,

Breathe.

Just feel the effects of this practice on your being,

On your body.

And if you'd like to share anything about what came up for you or how it was,

I'd love to hear from you.
