Welcome.
Today's meditation is to help us connect to the flow of energy in the body so that even if we are stationary or staying at home,
We realize that we are not stagnant.
So please find yourself in a comfortable seat.
You'll want the hips to be nice and even,
The spine straight and strong.
If you're lying down,
Same offering that you can find an evenness between left and right and that the spine is nice and straight.
Eyes might be closed or soft gaze at the front of the room and let's all take a deep collective inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth.
Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth.
Take another breath in,
Exhale through mouth and start to breathe in and out through the nose.
We're going to practice here circular breathing.
So I'd like you to get rid of any pause between the inhale and the exhale or between the exhale and the inhale.
So you just feel this constant flow of movement in to out and out to in.
I actually envision this as a circle.
That you feel the breath moving all the way through the inhale and all the way through the exhale without any change of pace.
We're going to map this breath flow on to our bodies.
So when you inhale through the nose,
I'd like you to imagine like you're drawing a line through the back of the head,
Through the back body,
And then to connect right at the base of the belly,
Right at the base of the pelvis.
And then on the exhale,
You draw a line from the base of the pelvis through the front of the body,
All the way up to the nose.
So the inhale comes back behind you and drops down to the base of the pelvis.
And the exhale draws forward of the body to reconnect at the nose.
So again,
It's this imagining this circle here,
The inhale drawing you down and back.
And the exhale bringing you up and forward.
Notice if imagining the circle helps you feel more depth in the lungs on the inhale,
You draw down,
Draw in,
Draw deep.
And the exhales,
You press the air out.
And keep moving this way,
Inhaling and exhaling.
No pause between the inhales and exhales.
We are keeping the breath energy,
Our breath life force,
Also known as prana,
Moving through the body.
Because even when we feel like our physical body is still,
So much is moving.
Our circulation is moving.
Our nerve impulses are moving.
Food might be digesting.
Cells are being born and dying.
Things are getting rearranged every moment.
So our cells are moving.
Our breath is moving.
Our mind is also moving.
Maybe emotions,
Thoughts and feelings are coming.
And maybe we can let them go as well.
If any distraction comes,
You let it breathe in,
Come in and exit.
Maybe if you want to help some of this exiting happen,
You imagine that on that exhale,
As the attention draws up and forward,
Maybe what needs to exit the body just continues its trajectory on.
It doesn't re-enter at the nostrils with your inhale.
Instead,
It's breathed out and released.
If you come across any places in the body or mind that are stuck,
That feel dense,
That feel caught,
Breathe the fresh air into it on the inhale and release it on that exhale on that trajectory outward of the body.
Let's bring our attention back to the circles entering and exiting the body.
So that now we are conserving the energy.
We're not releasing it out into the world.
We are recycling it,
Renewing it,
Supporting our own life force,
Our own energy here.
We know that life is not stagnant,
That nature is never stagnant.
The seasons come and go,
The day begins and ends.
When we connect deeply to our nature,
Our true nature,
Into the earth,
We can feel that movement of our own energy and emotions as well.
That's that intention today of keeping emotions and energy in flow.
Sri Nisargadatta said,
Compassion says I'm everything,
Wisdom says I'm nothing.
And between these two banks,
The life of an awakened one flows.
Let us stay in motion today and every day.
You can take the hands to press together at the heart.
Let's all inhale together and exhale.
The light in me very humbly bows to that same light in each one of you.
Namaste.
Thank you for practicing.
As you're ready,
You can slowly start to open the eyes,
Return to the space around you,
And have a wonderful day.
