Hey loves,
Thank you for making time to reconnect here and most importantly,
Thank yourself.
Go ahead and take a comfortable position laying down or on your back or belly or even sitting with your back against a wall,
Whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
Having a mental illness can take a lifetime to uncover,
To handle it and to have a consistent support system around it.
This meditation is made to give you that extra support that whatever you are going through,
It is okay.
According to the Mental Health First Aid in February 2019,
In the United States almost half of adults,
46% will experience a mental illness during their lifetime.
Half of all mental disorders begin by the age 14 and three quarters by age 24.
In the United States,
Only 41% of people who have a mental disorder in the last past year received professional health care or other services.
Having a mental illness is not a weakness.
Knowing it's there in fact will make you stronger and make you feel more in control of what you need which is acknowledgement,
Understanding and support.
Let's go ahead and take some deep breaths.
Inhaling it is and exhaling okay.
And go ahead and do this for another three times,
Inhaling and exhaling,
Soaking in these words,
Believing them and letting them become a part of you.
Really feel the expansion and deflation of the lower belly,
Letting out any energy that isn't serving you.
Then just let your breath come to its natural rhythm as you relax more into this moment.
If your mind wanders,
Just come back to your breath with the affirmation,
It's okay.
Okay.
Mental illnesses are unique to everyone and others who don't experience them or accept them will never understand.
It's not easy by any means but remember it's okay to not be understood.
If you are the only one who truly understands what is going on,
Know that that is something to be celebrated,
To really know yourself,
Your body and your mind.
It takes time,
Patience and a whole lot of compassion to really put your own opinion of yourself higher than anyone else.
So I'm here to stand with you,
To support you,
To love you and if you feel a little broken,
It's okay.
Feel those emotions and if you feel you are in a challenging spot where happiness isn't around the corner,
Then we will stand together,
Broken and awake to the steps of recovery because you're never alone and you are worth the time.
Let's go ahead and come back to our breath,
Inhaling I am and exhaling supported.
Go ahead and do this for another three times,
Inhaling through the nose,
Connecting to your breath and your body and feeling the expansion and deflation of the lower belly and letting go of any tension of any thoughts holding you back by releasing the breath with a sigh.
Notice your body and how it feels and if any emotions arise,
It's okay.
This is a safe space,
This is your safe circle.
Now just let your breath come to its natural rhythm.
If your mind wanders,
It's okay.
It's in the mind's nature to wander.
Just compassionately bring yourself back to your breath with the affirmation,
I am supported.
Finally,
Having a mental illness can feel isolating and others sometimes don't know how to handle the change.
Remember you don't have to prove it to anyone.
Using simple language to express how you feel is okay and being selective of safe spaces to express your true feelings is important and it's okay if it's not everywhere.
Meditation about mental illness takes a level of awareness.
Some aren't there yet and that's okay.
Release the urges and thoughts of making others against you.
Know that your loved ones want the best for you even if they aren't able to show it in our ideal way.
Bring meditation and awareness into your daily life as you watch these emotions and feelings as a part of you and realize they aren't who you are.
Repeat these affirmations to yourself when you feel sensitive and or triggered to the words or actions of others with the words,
I am okay,
It's okay,
I am safe,
I am supported and it's okay to dance and laugh it off too.
You always have this safe circle to come to,
To regain your power and recenter yourself.
This is safe circle meditation.
Thank you for making time to reconnect here and most importantly thank yourself.
Namaste.
