Transcript
A special visualization meditation with our Shodai Gil.
Shodai Gil,
Of course,
Is chanting meditation.
We're going to be doing a Daimoku and Chakra visualization.
And what we're going to be doing is visualizing the seven characters of the Odaemoku matched with their corresponding seven Chakra points.
And like all visualizations,
The secret is to just allow your imagination to be free,
Be childlike and playful with it.
Don't worry if you're doing it right or not.
There really is no right or wrong way.
It's just let yourself be free and playful.
I wanted to share a picture though of the seven Chakra points starting at the top of your head,
The crown,
And then right in the middle of your forehead is called the third eye in your throat,
Your heart,
Your solar plexus,
Which is roughly equivalent to where your stomach is and your sacral point,
Which is just below your belly button.
And then the root point,
Which is the tip of your spine or your sit bones right at the base of your pelvic floor.
And what we do is we're going to be matching up the Daimoku with this.
So Na is going to be the top of your head.
Mu is your forehead.
Myo will be your throat and Ho is your heart.
Ren will be your solar plexus.
Ge is your stomach or your lower belly,
Excuse me.
And then Kyo is the root or base of your spine,
The very bottom of your pelvic floor.
And each Chakra point has a color.
So the crown or Na is violet.
The third eye or forehead Mu is deep purple.
Your throat Myo is blue.
Your heart Ho is green.
Your stomach solar plexus Ren is yellow.
Your lower belly just below your belly button or the sacral point is Ge and that is orange.
And then the very base of your pelvic floor is red and Kyo.
And again,
Just showing this picture because as we get into the visualization and into the guidance part when I am speaking,
You'll have this picture in mind as we go along.
So I think it could be helpful.
Lastly,
A bit of a note,
As with all meditations,
Including visualizations,
If at any time during the visualization you feel uneasy or uncomfortable,
Please just know you always have your breath either counting or following that you can return to,
To return to your calm and stable state.
And once you feel calm and stable again,
You can continue the meditation as you want to.
And that of course applies to any time we do any meditations.
And begin with our full bow.
Contemplation of the place of awakening.
Let it be known that this place is indeed the place of awakening.
Here the Buddhas attain supreme perfect awakening.
Here the Buddhas roll the Dharma wheel and here the Buddhas enter Pāreṇirvāṇa.
Taking Refuge.
Honor be to the eternal Buddha Shakyamuni,
Our original teacher who attained awakening in the remotest past.
Honor be to the Sutra of the Lotus Flower of the Wonderful Dharma,
The teaching of equality,
The great wisdom,
The one vehicle.
Honor be to our original teacher,
Superior practice,
Our founder,
The great Bodhisattva Nichiren Shonin.
Our first period of silent calming meditation,
Hands resting lightly in your lap or in the Mudra Jhana Mudra.
Starting now to sit.
Entering into your meditation.
Setting your intention to be here,
Present and alert.
Taking a few moments to settle into your favorite meditation posture.
Remain upright,
Aligned,
Relaxed and resilient.
Begin taking three deep cleansing breaths,
Breathing in through your nose and exhaling through your mouth,
Making a soft sighing sound.
And lightly closing your mouth and continuing to breathe in and out through your nose.
Bringing your awareness to your whole body.
Beginning with the body scan,
Starting at the top of your head and working on your own,
Rolling down all the way to your toes and your fingers.
Allowing each part of your body to soften as you scan through it,
Releasing a little more tension with each exhale.
Activating your equanimity.
Creating your equanimity,
Open,
Relaxed,
Easy going.
Breathing in and around you as welcome.
Releasing your attention to the sensations of breathing.
Breathing in,
