Your throat chakra is responsible for communication,
Intention,
And expression of truth.
This meditation will help open and activate your fifth chakra using vibrational sounding,
Breathing,
And attention.
Make sure you're in a place where you feel comfortable humming out loud.
Please sit up straight and close your eyes.
Breathe gently through your nose.
Pay extra attention to your exhales.
See how long you can extend your exhalations while remaining comfortable.
After each breath in,
See if your next breath out can be a little bit longer than the last.
Continue breathing this way and bring your attention to your throat.
We're going to do our first round of sounding.
The frequency of the throat chakra is the musical note G.
You can follow my humming,
But don't worry if you fall out of pitch or out of pace.
Do your best to focus on the frequency of the sound as you keep your attention on your throat chakra.
We're going to start with a middle octave G.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Relax.
Notice how you feel after the vibration of sound is when we can best feel it in our bodies.
Return to breathing slowly without sound,
Continuing to extend your exhales as long as comfortable.
Your throat chakra first activated when you began to speak as a child.
This was your first chance to express your internal experience,
Your ideas,
Verbally.
This was your first chance to express explicitly what you wanted.
This was your first chance to share what was inside of you.
As we do our next round of sounding,
Focus on softening your throat area.
Deep within you is the memory of a time when your self-expression was pure and innocent.
It was a time when everything you said was truth because you couldn't do otherwise.
And at this time,
Your voice and your physical throat was soft and supple,
Free of tension.
Consider this feeling as you sound.
Breathe in.
Continue breathing,
Extending your exhales.
Notice the vibration you feel in the stillness.
At some point after you learn to speak,
It's possible that something taught you to withhold your voice for some reason.
It could have been an event or something someone told you,
Something you observed,
That may have caused your throat chakra to contract.
So for this next round of sounding,
Focus on opening your throat wider.
Allow more air to pass through.
Allow more vibration to resonate.
You can imagine the vibration clearing any blockages or numb spots.
This time I'll be adding overtones,
But you can simply hum the root note of G.
Breathe in.
Feel the vibration of the sound you just hummed.
Allow it to continue to resonate within you.
As you continue your breathing with extended exhalation,
Smile inwardly at your throat.
Notice how good it feels to feel your throat opening.
How good it feels to feel your throat relaxing.
And how good it feels to have an open range of free expression.
The most difficult things to express are those that come from our depths,
The things that may not be accepted by others.
When we deny the expression of those deeper and sometimes darker truths,
We clog the pipes for everything else.
For this next round of sounding,
We'll drop an octave lower to a lower G.
As you sound this time,
Focus on feeling your deeper truths,
Anything guttural that you maybe want to express,
Even if you don't have the words for it.
And send the intention to your inner self that anything it wants to express will be accepted by you.
If the low G is difficult for you to sound,
You can stick with the middle G.
If you decide to hum the lower note,
Make sure the sound resonates in your chest and not in your vocal cords.
Breathe in.
Feel the vibration that remains after the sound is gone.
Feel the permission you give yourself,
Your deeper layers,
To put itself into words and breathe.
As you give space for the heavier truths,
You create space for the lighter truths to flourish.
Your sense of humor,
Levity,
And joy require expansiveness as well.
It's also possible at some point in your life you were taught to withhold joyful words.
Maybe you can offer more genuine compliments.
Maybe you can celebrate verbally more often.
For our next round,
We'll hum a higher octave G.
As you sound,
Focus on the expansive expression of joy.
Maybe you even want to think of someone to whom you want to express gratitude or uplifting words.
If the high G is uncomfortable,
You can simply hum the middle G.
If you decide to hum high,
Make sure the sound resonates behind the bridge of your nose and not in your vocal cords.
Breathe in.
Notice the feeling of this lighter vibration.
Smile towards your throat.
Smile towards yourself.
Enjoy the levity,
The more expansive feeling.
Your voice is not only how you communicate,
It's how you bring your unique ideas into the world.
A clean and open throat chakra is what allows you to contribute to the collective consciousness.
For our last two rounds of sounding,
Focus on letting your vibration expand beyond yourself.
Your voice is meant to be heard.
So this time you may want to sound a little bit louder than before.
You may want to try to have your body resonate a little more.
And you may even notice that a slightly different sound than humming wants to come through you.
Honor yourself by allowing whatever sound,
Whatever expression to come out.
Just make sure you're feeling the vibration as well.
Breathe in.
Feel the silent vibration.
Last time.
Breathe in.
Feel the vibration that you just made.
Enjoy the vibration of your voice.
In this sitting,
We sounded together to remind you how to tap into the frequency of your communication chakra.
But at any point,
You can remember to connect to this frequency whenever you want your voice to open more.
As a final invitation,
If you notice there is a specific something that you want to say or express,
Maybe to a specific person,
Go ahead and do that.
That's the best thing you can do for your throat chakra and for your expression.
