Hi and welcome to your grounding meditation.

I invite you now to find a spot that feels comfortable for you.

If possible,

It would be great if you could get outside and perhaps sit or lay on the earth or even sitting outside in your veranda on your front porch.

You might choose to instead lay semi-reclined in a bed or a lounge or even sit in a chair.

Wherever you are,

Just be in a place that feels soothing and nourishing for you.

Begin to close the eyes,

Feeling like your gaze behind your eyelids could soften.

Be aware of the tiny muscles around the eyes,

Feeling them letting go.

Feeling the forehead and the eyebrows soften.

Release the jaw.

And then direct your awareness slowly down your body,

Down the neck.

Your awareness over the shoulders,

The chest,

Abdomen,

Pelvis,

Upper legs,

Knees,

The back of the neck,

Lower legs,

And finally down to the soles of your feet.

And feeling now as though you could breathe downwards to the soles of your feet.

Take a slow deep breath in through your nose,

Filling up the lungs.

And then exhale like you could direct your breath down to the soles of your feet.

And again,

Breathing in slowly,

The lungs fill up,

The navel rises.

Exhaling down the body to the soles of the feet.

And one more time,

Breathing in through the nose,

Filling the lungs up more and exhale,

Letting it all go down to the soles of your feet.

I invite you now to picture yourself in your mind's eye,

Sitting or laying underneath a tree,

A big grand tree.

Take a few moments to picture this tree in your mind,

The size of it,

The color of the trunk,

The color of the leaves.

Does your tree have any blossoms or flowers emerging out of the leaves and branches?

What are the roots like on your tree?

Can you see any movement in the branches and leaves of your tree as you just sit back and witness it for what it is?

As you sit by this tree underneath its branches in its shade,

Can you feel the life energy of the tree?

Can you feel its story,

Its memory?

Can you feel its life force?

Begin to now picture yourself either putting your hands on the roots or the base of the trunk,

Or perhaps you choose to place your hands on the earth where you sit underneath the tree.

And it's as though you were breathing in unison with the tree.

As you inhale,

The tree exhales,

Bringing you fresh life,

Oxygen,

Energy.

And as you exhale,

The tree receives your breath.

There is a gentle,

Compassionate,

Loving exchange between you and the grand old tree.

As if this tree was your friendly companion here in this moment,

And the nature of the tree wants to offer you peace,

Support,

As it holds the energy of Mother Earth within it.

What is it that you would like to breathe in with each new breath?

What intention do you now open up to receiving with each new breath in?

With the knowledge that it is offered to you out of loving kindness from Mother Earth through this grand old tree?

As though you could picture yourself breathing this in,

This intention,

Perhaps a colored light,

You visualize it as a colored light.

And with each exhale,

There's a letting go,

There's a softening,

There's a gentle release.

For a few moments here,

Allowing this cyclical breath,

This sacred exchange between you and Earth,

Breathing in newness,

Intention,

Breathing out release,

Fear,

Resistance.

And then gently shift your focus to where your body is connected to the Earth,

Whether that be through your hands,

Your legs,

Your feet,

Or even your sit bones if you're sitting by the roots of the tree.

Feel the contact between your body and the Earth,

And starting to feel and visualize tiny roots moving out of the hands,

Out of the body,

Weaving their way down into the Earth's soil.

Visualize these roots digging deeper through the layers of soil,

Down deeper and deeper through clay and rock,

Through the crystalline grids,

Eventually down to the core of the Earth.

As you visualize your roots making their way down,

You notice that your roots have intertwined or moved down alongside other roots of other trees,

From other beings,

Perhaps all the other people that have shared in this meditation with you.

And though your roots are independent,

Though they belong to you,

This Earth,

This ground is a common ground,

It is a common place for all.

And you feel that sense of connection with all the other beings that hold their own roots there in the soil of the Earth.

Aware of your roots anchored down in the Earth,

Begin to again take your breath down the body,

And this time send your breath down deeper towards the core of the Earth.

Inhaling slowly through the nose,

Perhaps exhaling out of the mouth this time as you send your breath down your body and down into the layers of Earth.

Inhaling through the nose,

Filling up the lungs and exhale releasing that breath down the body,

Down your roots to the core of the Earth.

Continue practicing this breath and this awareness of your breath moving down to the core of the Earth.

As you do this,

Know that others have joined you in this practice,

Other people,

Other forms of nature such as that grand old tree.

And in this way there is a unison to the breath.

In this way you come to see that we are all sharing this one breath,

Connected in the true pure essence of breath.

Continue to take your awareness back up through the layers of soil,

Up your roots,

Travelling up higher up your roots through the top layers of soil until you reach the body.

Exhaling the breath in your body,

Where do you feel your breath here?

And though we are coming to a point of slowly closing this meditation,

Gently reminding yourself that your essence can always be connected through pure intention,

Through conscious breath to the essence of Mother Earth.

The characteristics of nurture,

Nourishment,

Regeneration,

Trust,

Flow,

Wisdom,

Knowing that all of that is within you and within your true nature.

Begin to be aware of the space that you are in,

Still with your eyes closed for a moment.

Be aware of the sounds that you hear in the space that you are in.

Perhaps licking the lips or swallowing.

Taking one more steady breath in and out here.

Slowly bring some movement or stretches into the body.

When you feel ready,

Slowly opening the eyes and coming back into the here and the now.

Interested within body,

Mind,

Anchored by your breath.
