The Relaxing Beach Meditation is a body relaxation technique that uses your imagination to bring focus to each part of the body as you allow the music and sounds of the waves to rock you into a state of bliss and contentment. You can use this to rest and relax at any time of the day, or as a sleep aid. Thank you for joining me in this relaxing body awareness exercise and continuing to return to Insight Timer.

Find a comfortable position to sit or lie down.

Remove any tight clothing.

Turn off any notifications or distractions and begin to relax.

Take a few slow,

Deep breaths,

Inhaling and exhaling with ease.

Let go of any tension in your body with each breath you take.

Feel yourself sinking comfortably into the surface you are resting on.

Allow your mind to become still.

Do not force this process.

Simply observe your thoughts as they float away,

As if being carried away by a river.

Continue breathing at your own natural pace,

With as little conscious thought towards your breath as you can,

As your body falls into a peaceful rhythm.

Now imagine and feel the warmth of the sun in the sky.

You can see the comforting glow of yellow,

Orange and gold through your closed eyes.

Listening to the sounds around you,

You tune into the waves crashing along the white sand.

Yes,

Your senses have told you the truth.

You are at the shore of your personal tropical paradise.

This place is a safe and comforting place to you.

It is yours and yours alone.

The place that you can find rest,

Relaxation and refreshment.

Begin to mentally open your eyes to see how this paradise actually looks.

Take in every bright vibrant color and every detailed sound.

Feel the sand beneath you.

Feel its warmth as it molds to the contours of your body.

Listen to the rhythmic waves as they crash and sparkle on the shore in front of you,

The birds calling out in the distance above you.

Just be here,

Now,

Present.

As you rest in this moment,

Come back to your breath.

Listening again to the sound of the waves.

How do they sound to you?

How does it make you feel?

Where in your body do you feel the same rhythm?

Feel that same relaxing rhythm with your breathing.

Keep breathing deeply and evenly.

With each breath,

Imagine the fresh island air filling your lungs and body with the deepest sense of satisfaction.

Feel the cleansing,

Relaxing and nourishing flow of energy that is penetrating every cell of your body and soul.

Feel this energy filling you up,

Starting at the bottom of your feet and in the tips of your toes.

As it moves up into your legs and revitalizes your knees,

Then to the thighs and your waist.

Now,

Moving up into your hips and healing the whole lower half of your body.

Moving up more and more with each breath,

Re-energizing the abdomen and lower back.

Feel as each breath strengthens your muscles and recharges your body,

Creating stability and a strong foundation.

This energy continues moving up along your spine and into your chest,

Revitalizing and renewing all of the organs and muscle tissue all along the way.

Through the heart and lungs,

Filling you up with a sense of contentment and lightness.

Now,

Moving up into the shoulders,

Rebuilding and feeling the weight ease and fall away.

From the shoulders,

Down the arms and through the elbows all the way to the forearms,

Wrists and hands.

Feel the energy pulsating into your fingertips.

And finally,

Up into the neck and the face,

Relaxing and regenerating the skin and the muscle tissues here.

And lastly,

Into the scalp.

And now you are fully energized with the relaxing effect of the air and pure healing energy within it that continues to flow in and out of your body,

Like the waves that you are still seeing in front of you on your secret,

Safe,

Peaceful island.

Stay here in this moment,

This magical frame frozen in time,

Eternal,

Yet fleeting.

Become aware of how you feel.

Remember this feeling well.

You are creating it.

You can come back to it anytime.

You may continue your relaxation as the music plays for the remainder of the meditation.

If you chose to use this meditation before bed,

Gently fall asleep,

Tuning into the rhythm of the waves and your breath.

Otherwise,

Begin slowly moving every part of your body,

Starting with your fingers and toes and gently open your eyes.
