Just as you are.
No more,
No less.
Just as you are.
Hello,
I'm Roy.
What we are talking about here is a simple approach to meditation and self-awareness.
The calm,
Silent presence of yourself.
The silence that hears and sees just as you are.
With this guidance into silent presence,
It will help to bring the calm tranquility of a quiet mind into your life.
With all the best intentions to being here,
Calm and present,
How often do you find you have wandered off into thoughts,
Opinions and dreams?
Nothing new can be clearly seen,
Heard or learned unless you are fully present.
Are you here or somewhere else?
So what is being present?
There is something about you that has never changed.
Eternally present.
Indescribable yet instantly recognizable as none other than yourself.
While all that happens comes and goes,
You alone are,
In silent presence,
The changeless among the changeful.
You may think of I am as body and mind with thoughts,
Beliefs and opinions,
But the I that you are is behind and beyond.
As boundless and timeless as the sky beyond the clouds.
The same sense of being,
Yourself,
You have always known through infancy,
Youth and old age,
Silently watching your world of thoughts,
Dreams and memories,
Just as you are here now.
Being present is just that.
Being present.
There are no special instructions,
Postures,
Words or breathing.
You already have all you need,
Just yourself.
Just pay attention,
Pay attention wide and deep,
And notice how the deeper your presence,
The quieter your mind.
By day it will guide you to being bright and sharp,
And by night restful calm and blissful sleep.
Just take a few minutes morning and evening for silent presence and let the calmness of mind grow naturally from moment to moment,
Just as you are.
Ask yourself,
Am I present?
And clearly you know that you are here now,
Present.
For if your mind and thoughts were somewhere else,
The question would just not occur.
Do you see the difference?
Asking the question and being here now is one and the same.
Am I present?
In silent presence,
Beyond mind and thoughts,
Just notice the fresh smell of morning dew,
The birds on the wing in the cool light of dawn,
The gentle hush of waves upon the shore.
Just notice,
All so clear,
Fresh and present.
No need of faith,
Belief or trust,
Nothing to do,
Nowhere to go.
Just being and seeing in the silence you know,
Yourself and true.
The seer and seen are one and the same.
The colours you see,
The touch you sense,
The feelings you feel,
And you yourself are one,
Just as you are.
No thought,
No opinion,
Empty.
Empty silent presence.
Just say to yourself,
I am empty.
Just let go into empty silent presence.
See how mind and body relaxes in the deep silent presence of yourself.
Empty yet complete,
Perfect and free.
A lifetime of things may be gained or lost,
Experiences and memories acquired,
Yet the sense of being itself is unchanged,
Free at one and the same.
As calm as the depths of the deepest ocean,
Unaffected by the waves way above,
Yet remaining as calm and steady as a clock in a thunderstorm.
Thoughts,
Ideas,
Gains and losses are like ripples of light as they dance on the surface above,
Yet the I that you are is blissfully calm and silent.
In calm full presence,
Is it an effort to see the colours of the wall,
The shape of the chair,
Or sense the touch of your hands,
Or the gentle breath of air on your skin?
What it is to being present?
Effortless,
Yet rich with silent curiosity,
Just as an infant before it has learned to smile.
In true silent presence,
Just remember yourself.
All thoughts,
Good or bad,
Are in the mind,
Not yourself.
As you come to know and trust your peace of mind,
You'll know is just yourself and not some altered state.
You are just being present in the sense of I am.
I am I,
Complete,
Silent,
Boundless.
Nor is it a place waiting for your return.
You never left.
Simply you are here and beyond,
Eternally present.
Nothing to change,
Nothing to fix,
Nowhere to go.
Just watchfully calm and present,
Just as you are the silence that hears and sees.
As memories and thoughts rise in the mind,
Just notice they are not your enemy.
They are not you.
They are all just passing by.
Noticing is in itself being present.
Quietly noticing thoughts and feelings,
Curiously interested as they drift on by like passing clouds and shadows on the ground.
They leave no trace as they pass by,
Unless you think so.
Just notice your sense of I,
Free,
Calm,
Unaffected,
Just as you are.
There's a natural easiness in being present.
The feeling of I am inside and out and that that you see is all one and the same and all contained in I,
I am.
Complete,
Silent,
Beyond sense or description.
A little tense or anxious,
Just memories,
Thoughts and opinions.
Let go and see how they melt in the presence of yourself.
As mind,
Body and thought relax into peaceful calm and rest.
Nothing else belongs here but the silent presence of yourself,
Just as you are.
In calm,
Attentive,
Silent presence,
Just as you are.
The sense I am beyond even the thought I am.
Let go as it fades into pure being,
Pure silent knowing.
Being and knowing is one and the same.
A little tired or sleepy,
It's okay.
When the time is right,
Rest and sleep will come quite naturally as thoughts melt into the calm,
Silent presence of yourself.
How effortless everything becomes.
In the calm presence of yourself and understanding,
All that happens as with a beat of your heart.
The rise and fall of your breath.
Is just your natural functioning unfolding all by itself.
See how your body it moves,
Your thoughts they flow.
Yet the self you are remains just as it is.
Calm,
Silent presence.
With clear listening and understanding,
All that follows rises quite naturally.
See how it flows in joyful conversations with friends and family.
And notice how in the presence of imminent danger comes deep presence of mind.
And out of that pure silence,
Perfect action arises spontaneously of its own accord.
No fear,
No thought,
No decision.
Getting used to it as you grow and still calm presence yourself.
Let go into effortless flow just as you are.
As it comes to mind from moment to moment,
Day by day,
Just remember yourself.
No matter how active your body,
How busy your mind,
Just remember yourself.
Empty,
Silent presence,
Just as you are.
The silence that hears and sees.
