I'm chanting and welcome soul to soul.

This is Rose from Inner Space in Glasgow and we're going to talk about wonderful,

Wonderful people.

People are wonderful.

We are people,

We're all people.

Aren't we wonderful?

So we've forgotten actually that we're so wonderful.

But spirituality teaches us to respect all people as valuable because everyone is a soul.

So what is the wonder of this?

We may have different roles etc,

Specialities,

But we're all equal as souls.

It's when we're human beings and people that we're different.

Someone's a big chief executive and someone else works in a taxi or a bus or a shop or whatever,

Or doesn't even,

Looks after a home and so therefore we start to look down on people who don't have a big title.

That's because we're people.

But as souls we don't have any titles,

We're souls and we're all equal.

So spirituality teaches us to see each other as souls.

And what happens is if people get a position or a title and think they're better than others,

Then this actually can lead to fear and worry and concern.

They will worry about losing their position,

The ones who have a big position.

So spirituality teaches us to learn to cherish everyone.

Allow your heart to be big and gentle.

There is a sweet spiritual love that can encourage that sweetness to re-emerge in all souls.

And we all have it in us,

This sweet love,

It's there.

So re-emerge this love because some of the teachings in Raja Yoga meditation is that love can turn stone into water.

It means someone with a hard heart can turn kind and sweet again.

A worthy teacher does not crave the respect of others.

If their experience can be of assistance or inspire others,

They're glad but never attached to a title or a role.

It's easy to over amplify the greatness of a few people and think that they're extra special.

This can make others daunted or even lazy like,

What's the point?

What's the point?

They like that one better than me.

Which is why we practice not going there,

Don't go there.

In fact,

Everyone,

Everyone,

Doesn't matter what they're like actually.

Maybe that's not how they're behaving but inside everyone is a great soul.

Everyone is a great soul.

All souls have potential and the best thing any of us can do is keep nudging and pointing,

Gently directing them to their own wonderful self,

Wonderful self.

And it's not just saying this,

This is truth,

This is truth.

Keep your self-respect,

Maintain dignity but don't put yourself above others.

Don't put yourself above others because it's just not true.

It will end up hurting them and you.

Okay.

Wow,

Well it seems if we could get this lesson,

We could have peace on earth.

This comparison,

It's completely the opposite of what you described as when I understand I'm a soul and everyone is a soul.

When this is so beautiful,

Why do we move away?

Why do we forget?

I think because we get caught up in the roles that we're in and we're so used to the habit of being beneath others with great big titles and they're used to the habit of having the big title and being superior and it's gone on for a long,

Long time and we think it's now normal.

We think it's natural that some people can actually boss you about and discourage you and treat you badly.

We think this is just the way of life and it can make people lose heart and be despondent and feel worthless and it is not true.

It is not true but it appears to it's so apparently truthful that it's very difficult for people to start to take on board that it is not true,

That they are wonderful.

But when you start to practice meditation and look at wonder,

Look at how it actually works,

You know that it is true.

So when you speak with that feeling of wonder,

Of truth,

There's a chance it will touch some people to begin believing in themselves,

Which is what Raja Yoga is teaching,

To become the best of yourself that you can be and you cannot become the best unless you have some information that you can trust.

The definition of a teacher was beautiful.

It's as you're describing there being able to see the potential,

The reality that all souls are wonderful and just to keep tirelessly nudging people towards that reality if they are open to it.

What do you think are some of the easiest ways to do that?

How do you as a spiritual teacher,

How do you keep encouraging and nudging people towards that realisation that they are wonderful souls and that we are equal as souls?

Well,

I think if you see any speciality in someone,

Anything that's really nice or you know it's happening in real time,

They're kind,

They're generous natured,

They're helpful,

They're cooperative,

You have to express it,

You have to tell them and if they remember that,

See years and years and years and years and years and years ago,

Way back in the olden days when I was a child and I had heard nothing of anything like this and someone said to me,

You have a beautiful mind.

I was absolutely amazed because I didn't even,

I didn't even thought of the word mind and I never even thought I had a mind but that stayed with me and somehow lifted me up and somehow encouraged me so that when I came across meditation,

That had somehow given me stepping stones and I was more open to listening and so I think you have to see something in someone,

Even they're very mannerly.

I remember a gentleman who has left now,

A few years back,

Who had quite a severe illness and he would help me across the road as if I was a princess and I was ready to help him across the road because he wasn't so well and he would so masterfully take my arm and escort me across the road.

Now to me that's a very beautiful action and he lingers in my memory now as being such a beautiful soul.

So to see something really lovely in someone,

You're giving them those first steps towards them starting to appreciate themselves.

If it's sincere then it's like an arrow,

It really will touch their heart.

Yeah,

Yeah,

Because how many people say that to someone and many people escort them across the road when they themselves can hardly walk,

How many people say you have a beautiful mind,

How many people see that you're very generous-hearted.

So it's our job if we can see that to say it and they'll remember it forever.

And in this section you were mentioning something about,

It's almost like we hype this age of fame,

We kind of hype certain people up to be almost super heroes,

Superhuman and then it makes,

It can make others feel daunted and it's just impossible for them to come even close in terms of their life experience to those people that we put on pedestals.

So what's this kind of balance?

We need to respect people for their achievements,

For their speciality but not build it up too much that it then becomes almost a blow and a worship,

Yeah,

Yeah,

Worship.

Because no human being is worthy of worship,

No human actually,

A lot of people might not like to hear that but no human is worthy of worship,

The only one that's worthy of worship are,

Well there are special souls that get worshipped,

Heads of religion and things and there's God and there's deity souls but apart from that in today's world there's very few people worthy of worship.

Even the people who are holy men nowadays and gurus they're not really worthy of worship because they become sick and they,

You know,

They don't actually,

Well they play their role and they give people blessings,

I suppose that's what makes them,

People want to go to them,

They make them feel better,

They tell them nice things,

So they're playing a role but they're not really actually worthy of worship,

They're just good souls,

Very good souls.

I suppose at the end of the day I have to see the wonder in myself,

Yes,

You know people can maybe point me there but you've got to,

Yeah,

Develop it for yourself,

That's good to say,

Yeah,

You have to develop it for yourself.

And then not to put yourself above others,

That's one to watch for too isn't it because when things are going well or maybe I do get a little position or I feel good about myself and things seem to be going swimmingly and it's like I have a mini pedestal to be careful there as well,

How do you maintain like your sense of being grounded and equal to others even if you do get a role that's a bit elevated in some situation?

Well the more elevated you start to become because you will become more elevated in your habits and your understanding then the more you should be lifting others up because you know yourself you're not perfect,

So you're not sort of above them really but you're there as a help,

Your role as a helper,

Your role is that of a helper to lift them up to where you are if you could,

If they would.

So that's the key is to keep being a server really?

Yeah,

To keep being a server,

Yeah,

You know you yourself are not a wonder,

You have your moments and so you're not,

You know,

It's like it would almost be embarrassing if people started to treat you as if you were amazing and it keeps you grounded as well that you know I'm doing my job here but I'm doing it with a sincere heart,

So not to get carried away.

It's all a balance actually but it's education and information on the fact that people are wonderful,

Everybody's entitled to being given that consideration and you know value,

Everyone's worth the value.

And we do get so trapped in the roles,

Yeah,

I find one method that you've mentioned in the past is you know to remember that every soul was once in a tiny body,

You know,

We all start off as babies and in that state we're all absolutely,

You know,

We're not scary,

We're wonderful,

But then we grew up,

The rules take over,

The labels take over and we forget that within that big costume there is simply tiny wonderful soul.

Yeah.

So when you said there's like cherish everyone,

It can seem like how can you do that?

I know.

Make a big tuffy or something.

I know.

They say some of the laws of energy say it's all the energy to do with energy,

That even if a big,

Big,

I hope this never happens,

I'm totally challenged with this,

But they do say by the laws of energy,

Even if a really tough,

Tough,

Wild person comes in front of you,

But if you can remember to look in the centre of their forehead,

See them as a soul and see that they have so much value and they're actually wonderful,

That they'll have to stop in their tough attitude towards you and actually be different.

So it's one worth holding on to as the world gets a bit tougher,

That however you get a chance to try it,

If it's your last resort,

Try it.

So love turns stone into water,

That sounds a bit magical,

How does that happen?

What does that mean?

Well this feeling of love melts the heart and the heart has turned to stone,

Which means we've become,

Apart from people in our own families,

And even then it's not all the way,

They're the people we have,

We don't know if it's love,

But it's attachment too,

And that attachment we call it love,

And we're like,

We have a barrier against others,

But if we ourselves have love for everyone,

Those barriers can go down,

Because we're not a threat anymore,

And if you're not a threat,

The barriers will not come back up.

Life is a bit of a game to get into this space of understanding,

It's just a role,

Almost like it's a role in a drama or a play,

Not to take life too seriously,

But life seems quite serious and heavy a lot of the time,

Especially now in the world.

It is to do with putting up our defences,

We've been so hurt,

So traumatised,

So pulled down,

So disrespected and challenged for such a long time,

That the minute we meet anyone who is not part of our family or someone we know and trust,

Our defences against our conscious which we don't even know our defences have gone up,

But our defences are up,

And so because our defences are up,

We cannot feel the speciality of that soul,

We cannot feel love for that soul,

Because I'm waiting for the trauma to start,

I'm waiting for the disrespect,

I'm waiting for the challenge,

I'm waiting to see how I'm going to position myself,

How I'm going to sort this out,

And yeah,

It creates fear.

So when I myself position myself in a way that I'm not going to have defences against someone,

And that takes meditation,

Because I can sit in meditation and know who's going to be awkward in my day,

And when I know who's going to be awkward in my day,

I can talk to myself in advance and say whatever you do,

Just remember they're a soul looking at the centre of the forehead,

See them with love,

And even if they continue to have defences and try and prompt me and challenge me,

I could if I really am lucky and can manage to hold that energy to keep my defences away and not,

You know,

Rise to the bait if you like,

And some of the love might go through,

And it might not even be obvious,

But that which could have been a situation of conflict could turn into just normal.

It's kind of like you're opting out of that game of attack,

Defend,

Attack,

Defend.

It's like you're going above the whole scene and putting a stop to it all and saying,

Not going there,

I'm not going there,

You can go there if you like,

But I'm not going there.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So people are wonderful,

Truly wonderful,

And they need to have a chance to become wonderful,

And that's where meditation comes in,

Even they don't do meditation,

You can somehow be doing it for them in a way,

By the way you interact.

So it's not weak,

You're like refusing to fight in battle,

But it's a strength that allows you to take away from that.

It is a strength.

Yeah.

A few years back,

You had a lot of feelings,

People saw you as weak,

People saw you as weak,

As if you were,

Wouldn't fight,

You know,

But if you know yourself,

You know that you could fight,

If you wanted to not only fight,

You could possibly win because you've got a lot more understanding of how the game is,

But you're not going to win and squash someone who's really going through a lot of stuff.

So you refuse to fight.

I made that decision years ago.

And I was challenged by a lot of people who knew me saying,

What did you want?

Why don't you say something?

Why don't you do something nice thing?

No way,

I'm not going to do anything,

You know.

I don't need to make sense of the big gentle parts.

Like you made a pledge to yourself,

To yourself.

Yeah.

I don't need to prove.

I don't need to prove because if I did try to prove I would be proving that I could squash people.

That's the last thing I want to do is to be shown as tough.

I gave that up when I started to practice meditation because it's a lot of stress involved in trying to keep yourself up there as able to face up to those who are challenging you.

You don't want to have to keep being on your toes.

Oh,

I've got to face up to this one.

I've got to say something even smarter.

I've got to be,

Oh,

I want to be the winner.

I have to be the winner here or everyone will laugh.

Let them laugh.

Let them laugh.

You know it's not true.

Then there's the other tricky thing,

Isn't there though,

Where people get actually quite addicted to the adrenaline of the fight.

They actually can become like a little big habit.

Like they can't live without that spark of the battle.

Life is dull if there isn't some big drama going on.

Is it just lack of wisdom because they don't see how much that's hurting themselves.

Well,

When you go into the other mode,

Which we are talking about,

The happiness has intoxication.

More powerful than adrenaline.

You have the intoxication that for yourself you had victory there.

You did it.

You didn't get pulled into this battle of energy.

So you have the intoxication that you actually did something worthwhile for yourself,

But for the others who are many others there were.

So you get this surge of good energy.

You don't lose.

It doesn't become boring.

No,

No.

You get the surge of success.

You call it bubbles of happiness.

Bubbles of happiness and success or victory is guaranteed.

Okay.

For everyone.

Everyone.

Okay.

So we'll have a minute of meditation.

So keep an eyes open,

Ras yoga meditation.

Seeing yourself as the energy in the center of the forehead.

I am the living life energy.

So my original nature is peace.

I practice being a peaceful soul.

Allow your heart to be big and gentle and learn to cherish everyone.

Because in fact,

Everyone is a great soul.

Encourage the sweetness to emerge in all souls.

Never be attached to a title or a role.

Keep yourself respect and maintain dignity.

And don't put yourself above others.

I am a soul.

Everyone is my brother's soul.

And the original nature of all souls is peace.

Peace is your greatest power.

And remember the one above the ocean of peace.

Aum Shanti.

Aum Shanti.

Aum Shanti.
