People are saying that 2020 was such a bad year that things can only get better and in 2021 what are your thoughts? From time to time, when the news and world events seem very distressing, depressing, tragic… what would be your advice to cope with this? If someone is new to meditation, what would be a good practice for their first week? It's important to keep a track of your spiritual progress so that you can feel success. How do you do this?

This is Rose from Inner Space in Glasgow,

Bramacumara and we're going to just have a look at new thoughts for the new year.

What are your thoughts on 2021?

Well as someone who meditates and has meditated over a long period of time,

Every year you could have asked yourself that because there's always traumas in life and in the drama.

This year may have been a slightly bit more traumatic but it's the way we think personally for ourselves that can give us inner happiness which is why we do meditation because the gift of meditation is inner happiness and contentment,

To look at ourselves inside,

Reassure ourselves and appreciate the self for who we are and people have to do what they have to do so when we look outside the people are doing what they have to do but we should stay content with who we are and build inside,

Constantly build.

When I first started to do meditation I used to think why do they keep building new buildings and everything and things are kind of maybe not so brilliant a lot of the time so why they keep building because you keep building for the new for your own self.

This building freshness and newness in your life will bring you bonuses.

What advice on how to cope when seeing things on the news or in the papers that are really quite sad actually?

The sadness is over the entire world so were we there when they made the plans?

Were we sitting at the table to say right we'll do this and we'll do that?

Did we have an input?

Physically we did not have an input but spiritually we have an input and spiritually we can send good vibrations and good wishes which actually are the most powerful energy on the planet and although we cannot stop what others have to do we can feel reassured in ourselves that we're not getting caught up with fear or dislike or hatred but we're staying content and loving and creative and keeping our mind focused on the qualities within the self.

So what brought you to meditation?

There must have been some feeling inside that this must be useful or helpful and it is useful and helpful because no matter what happens you are you and you have to live your existence and your existence is powered by your energy and your energy is in the centre of the forehead and also when we look out we see the physical and it's all very graphic and we can see it so clearly but what we don't see are the thousands and thousands and thousands of souls who do meditation not just rajyoga and they have good thoughts and those powerful thoughts are very very powerful and good energy so it's as if there are two energies on the go one you can see which is like shock and another which you cannot see which is steady concentrated loving kind understanding and powerful because everyone has to do what they have to do and so the things that appear to be bad people are prompted in some way to do these things and who are we we cannot tell other people how to live their lives we don't want them to tell us how to live our lives and so to focus on what you feel is good for you do you want to be traumatized by what you see that you feel you want to criticize or do you want to start to have the faith that there's also other energy involved in this life process at the moment the first step is to go to a rajyoga center and find out about the soul and about meditation and practice feeling that you are the energy in the center of your forehead and you have so many qualities you have so much to offer the world but first you have to offer it to yourself and uncover it and feel it and you can only do this when you sit in stillness and silence and it can take a little bit of time to come together so as you can see it and feel it but have the faith make yourself have the faith that is instill that faith in yourself you need to have thoughts because we have got masses of stuff going on inside our heads and I think stillness and silence comes as we start to sort out a lot of questions and feelings that are inside but you see we've been on a journey and we need to start to look at many things have happened to us on that journey we've had a lot of sadness a lot of problems a lot of obstacles a lot of concerns and so we need to start to look at what's been happening and sincerely see what it did to me and how I want to feel better about everything and if I have these feelings I want to feel better then gradually gradually gradually that I'm a soul in the center of the forehead and if I'm able to think that maybe everyone is actually a soul and if everyone's a soul and if maybe there is a higher soul and then maybe that is the one soul who's the head of the whole world the old souls belong to that one and gradually sitting sitting in calmness and stillness and more peacefulness will come to me that's how I think I started I just need to put the time in really there's no shortcut there's no there's no shortcut no yet you'd have to if you've just come to it now I'd say you have to sit and think a lot and gallop ahead but the thing is to appreciate yourself to see that the very fact you want to do this means there's something about you that's really rather wonderful how do you do that how do you keep a track we have habits and we're not even aware of the habits that we have until we do meditation and then when we're doing meditation we can quite often understand how we react to people and when we react we go down the old track and we feel unhappy or we get into conflict we're not happy with that so you keep a track by seeing how something comes in front of you and you didn't go into the old habit you were able to stay maybe not 100% stable but a bit more laid back you were not quite so quick to challenge or get upset and so gradually gradually you become more and more you might use the word tolerant and calm and steady and that's how you can check yourself if you instantly rise into the old way then you've got a bit to go yet but slowly slowly you're able to think oh this person really really was really quite tough with me but I didn't really react so when we practice meditation we practice virtue kindness understanding patience sweetness love etc so the more I can think these things I used to just recite these words to myself over and over again and then gradually they started to come into practice so that's there's no really quick track in that way it said come into good company listen to good things and do your best to think about the one above if possible who is that so what's the meaning of this and how did I manage today we often say keep a note of your daily progress almost like a diary how did I manage today you might think well my day was just the same as any other day but that person was like this was me and I managed to stay quite calm then you're definitely moving yourself forward what are your thoughts on self-confidence I need to start to see the good that's in me I think we've been taught to not see the good in ourselves to be really quick to you know think no I can't do that no no I don't have been told I'm not good at that I'm told this you know this person doesn't like me or oh I could never do it no you have to kind of have a look at that and change your attitudes and see that you if you're looking at meditation there's something in you that's amazing if you're looking to see something really good for yourself then there's something really good in yourself you could see it perhaps see it in others but I don't think you see it in others so much until you start see it in yourself you have to really have the faith and the belief in yourself and the fact that something new is happening to you therefore you're really lucky and with these kind of thoughts that something amazing is happening to me talk about it and even if it sounds strange to you to say the words and people look at you as much say what you saying what you're on this is practice of putting out what's starting to happen inside you and as you put out what's starting to happen inside you more and more it will come into reality for you but you can't just hold it in your thoughts and you can't just wish and hope you have to observe what's happening in your interactions try not to go down the wrong tracks observe the thoughts and the feelings that you want to feel for yourself allow yourself to see the best in yourself and put it out share it with others find ways to say it in a way that they'll be able to take don't say I've found meditation and I've found God and I've now become so wonderful no but just say you know I feel so much better and so much more peaceful and I find that things have changed for me and but if you go too far you'll feel threatened actually as well so you have to be careful but put it out as best you can I just feel a benevolent energy is there and if I want to remember that benevolent energy there's nothing to stop me I can remember kindness the same as I can look out and look at the TV and see all the violence I can look inward and see the benevolence and the wonder and the sweetness the love the kindness I can attribute that energy to the most amazing feelings which helped me to develop such respect and faith in that energy which then enables me to have faith and respect for myself so that's how I see the process really of Raja Yoga meditation it's like being able to recognize goodness yeah I can see goodness and when I can see goodness big style like bigger than me it can inspire me to be a bit better and a bit better and a bit better and to see that there is if I can see or think or feel there is a benevolent energy that's so benevolent and that is there not that that energy is just sitting back watching us all being upset and but anyone who wants to see that energy connect with that energy can be empowered themselves so sitting still and peaceful and quiet and focusing on the center of the forehead I am the living energy every human being in the world is the living energy in the center of the forehead but I'm choosing to become peaceful living energy powerful life energy is so and I'm choosing to see that there is a benevolent one and I'm choosing to have faith in that one and thereby to have faith in myself to know that I the soul my pure desire is to be loving peaceful understanding helpful and to create those good vibrations and to be part of that silent energy that's also present today in the world I am a soul a being of love of peace and understanding and so day by day to create and make more powerful those vibrations in the self is to give more and more strength support and reassurance to the self which gives the self the power to send those vibrations into the world to help with that vibration of peace I am a soul a being of peace and so to spend time during the day every day to create within myself those powerful,
