
Mother To Your Mind

Are you a good mother to your mind? How you treat yourself will spill out into your relationships with others. If I think the soul is eternal and has had many births that means all souls have been mothers before and probably many times. So those Motherly personality traits are within the soul. Maybe they need a little polishing up, but they are there.

Good evening and welcome.
This is Rose from Inner Space.
Are you a good mother to your mind?
How you treat yourself will spill out into your relationships with others.
If I think the soul,
If I think of it as eternal and has had many births,
That means all souls have been mothers before and probably many times.
So those motherly personality traits are within the soul but maybe at this point in time they need a little bit of polishing up but they are there.
Tenderness,
Care,
Selfless love,
Only seeing the best,
Forgiving and nurturing,
Supporting but not restricting.
So what does it mean to be a world mother?
A sense of responsibility to care for all souls,
Not to be limited by my,
My,
My.
To belong to everyone.
To be a guardian of the earth and all souls.
This includes animals.
Everyone loves images of baby animals and mothers.
The trust and love,
The unquestioning care,
The sense of tireless duty,
The natural easiness.
So to be a mother to your own mind,
Extend that loving vision to others.
So it starts with the self and then I can extend to others.
Send your love out into the world and don't be stuck in this small world of my,
My,
My.
So my,
My,
My means this is my family,
My child,
My work,
My this.
So if I could stop just seeing the limitations of my and extend it to everyone,
It's actually close to me and related to me somewhere in this world life drama.
I'll shan't see.
You mentioned near the start that some people think that with rebirth that means that everyone's been a mother at some point.
So everyone has those qualities within them.
Everyone will have been a mother because sometimes if we believe in rebirth or whether we do or not,
We think about it.
Sometimes you're male,
Sometimes you're female,
Sometimes you'll be a father,
Sometimes you'll be a mother,
But you'll be a parent.
And so how many people have you been a parent to?
Something to think about and where are they?
And so what happened to them?
How many times did they have children who are now also related to you?
And how many times if the children had children who are now also related to you?
So you don't know who you're talking to.
You don't know who you're meeting.
And it was just beautiful to hear that list of things like selflessness and nurturing,
Loving,
Supporting,
But not restricting.
Why is it so challenging to access those qualities in myself constantly and always to keep them to the front?
Because I think they sound wonderful.
Why is it so difficult to do this?
Because we get caught up in all the complications of today.
Yeah,
We get caught up in the world of today,
Which certainly is different from that.
And when we get caught up in complications,
We forget the selflessness and the kindness and the helpfulness and the love.
We forget that.
When I practice meditation,
It encourages me to remember that these qualities are in us deep,
Real,
Strong.
And given a little encouragement,
They come to the surface.
Do you actually practice dialogues in your head,
Speaking to yourself in a motherly way?
Or is it more just an attitude that you develop?
What's your process of returning to that lovely,
Lovely state of being a mother to the mind?
Well,
I have to say I do a mixture of all of that.
I do look at my attitudes to see that I'm having as best an attitude as I can.
And I do talk to myself inside through the practice of meditation.
But I also,
Yeah,
There's times when I practice having a motherly attitude because people need,
You can't have that loving attitude,
Actually a motherly attitude is safe.
You can't go around being romantically loving to people.
They take it the wrong way.
But you can be a mother.
A mother is a safe position to take.
You can be loving as a mother.
A mother can tell you off.
A mother can straighten you up.
A mother can praise you.
A mother can hug you.
A mother can love you.
And there's nothing uncomfortable about any of that.
A mother is a beautiful thing to practice.
A parent.
And you said that in today's world the qualities and the wonderful things are maybe not so visible.
And also you mentioned being straightened out or told off.
And then that makes me think about approval and how much we can seek the approval.
So how do I approve of myself?
You know,
If we talk about mothering my own mind,
How can I learn to approve or accept my own self?
Well,
I would say that if you're listening to this,
That says a lot about you.
And if you're practicing meditation at all,
It says even more about you.
And if you put these two or even one of them there in their position,
It says that you definitely have incredibly good qualities in you.
And so if you keep thinking like that,
You'll begin to uncover in yourself the lovely qualities that are in you.
And then the practice of meditation can firm that up.
And if you're lucky,
You'll be inspired to bring these to the surface,
Start to believe that you have these qualities in you and put them out into the world.
And it will change the way you interact with others.
You'll see them with much more appreciation and you'll learn to stop yourself from saying or doing anything that you know would have upset you.
So you don't want to upset anyone else.
You want to be tender hearted.
And could you help me to understand a bit more this unlimited way of thinking about not being stuck in a small world of my,
My,
My,
But to be like you mentioned the phrase a world mother.
What does it mean to be a world mother?
That responsibility,
Not just for the person next to me,
But for the world.
Well,
I think if again,
If you're starting to practice this,
It's not difficult because from almost day one,
I tried so hard to know how it fitted together and I would send my good wishes out to the entire world as best I could.
Even if at that time I didn't have that many good wishes for myself,
But I did everything I could to be sincere in my energy and think of send good wishes.
How,
How could I do this?
How could I send these into the world?
And I used to see the world and send these vibrations in four different directions so that the whole world would feel good vibrations.
And I think everything develops and I think it developed from there to more and more.
I had more and more self-respect.
I've heard you say sometimes that one of the reasons that you do get up early every morning is that you feel that responsibility to the world that it's as if souls are waiting for their peace,
For their love.
Yeah.
And so if the people who do that regularly don't do it so regularly,
Then it's like there's a gap.
Well,
I think I used to feel it.
It's like a job in a way.
And if I don't do it,
They will feel where's almost like,
Where's my chocolate biscuit?
Where's that energy?
Where's that good feeling?
I'm not feeling it today.
And even you've never met them,
But you don't know when you met them and when you'll meet them again.
And that's what you call creating good karma actually,
Because in your future,
You don't know who you'll meet.
And you'll have laid a foundation for a very good relationship.
So it's worth thinking about.
So,
Tenderness,
Care.
Why are we so defensive?
It's like there's so many brick walls that everyone,
People have become so hard.
Well,
We defend ourselves to stop ourselves getting hurt.
And we've unfortunately or fortunately developed the habit that the defence is always there now.
It's to the front.
In a second,
We meet a strange person who hasn't even said a word to us in our defence,
Is up waiting till we check them out.
And if anyone says anything,
Even that we don't understand,
We're defending.
So it's difficult for us to take on board the good part because we're too busy trying to defend from anything that might come.
And so I need to know myself and forget what others are going to,
Whether I can trust them or not trust them.
I need to start to trust myself and go beyond that,
Actually.
Go to a place where I'm going to keep giving good vibrations,
Whether they're going to insult me or whether they're harsh.
I'm not going to be like that.
Okay.
What gives you the courage or the motivation or the awareness or the spark to make that decision that you're going beyond public opinion and that you're choosing peace and love?
The courage comes from knowing that,
Beginning to know myself more and more and knowing that it's needed in the world.
And if I don't do it,
There's not so many people will do it actually,
Because public opinion is a big thing and we're all terrified.
And so I tell myself to go beyond that.
So I can see how the qualities of being a mother to your mind are really essential to have a stable mind.
I'm just thinking sometimes the earth is described like a mother as well.
It's Mother's Day in the UK today.
How can I give that respect to the earth,
For what it's given to me as a mother of the physical?
So again,
We need to think of that to see that everything we've got has come from living on this planet.
And if you think of the qualities of a mother,
A mother just gives.
A mother would actually,
Maybe not every mother,
But the qualities of the mother is that they can almost give their lives for their child.
A mother becomes selfless,
They just give.
If they need it,
They'll do,
They'll work three jobs,
They'll get up early,
They'll be tireless,
They'll do without,
They'll feed their child before themselves,
They'll do everything for their child.
The earth is silent,
I mean the earth is not living,
But it automatically gives everything,
Everything.
So to become a bit like that is to do good for yourself.
You become a powerful earth mother.
Om Shanti,
So we'll have some meditation.
So focusing with eyes open,
This is very important.
Eyes open brings back my peace,
Because I focus on the one above.
And through open eyes,
I can fill my mind with vibrations of peace,
And other thoughts don't find it so easy to enter my mind.
So I become steady,
Powerful,
And peaceful,
And focus on the one above.
I'm a point of living energy.
When I think like this,
My mind is filled with light,
And other thoughts find it difficult to intrude into this space of peace,
Because my mind is filled with light and peace,
And feelings of good wishes.
And if I focus also on the one above,
There's power and strength,
And that power and strength gives me the strength to be the spiritual mother.
And from the spiritual mother,
I can be the world mother,
The earth mother.
So I am the soul,
The light,
The living energy.
I am light.
So to send your love out into the world,
Into the whole world,
Not into a small world,
Be a mother of your own mind,
And extend that loving vision to others.
It's a sense of tireless duty,
And natural easiness.
Be your own mother to your own mind.
I am a soul,
I am light.
